I’m hair stylist too. This is classic technic. I used it a lots on my clients. I like the way how U do. No music disturbing, no personal information, just straight to the hair. I love it and the hair is blending, excellent job !!!
aww thank you 💗💗
there is music
I’m so glad UA-cam recommended this video! 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼
The occipital bone Is half way down from where you parted the hair. It’s that little curve around ear level.By the time your done yore 15 vol bleach mix, the 30 vol bleach mix has lost its power and has died down, I suggest you mix as you go along. If you mix your bleach every 20 min, you’ll get max lift and fresh powerful bleach that’s much more efficient . Continue educating hairdressers you’re doing a great job!
The first hairstylist video I've ever watched in my life. Thanks Tenet, Thanks Christopher Nolan!
yay! hope you watch more!!
I've been watching so many UA-cam videos on placement and this is definitely the best video I have watched! You explained everything so well Thank You so much♡
yayy!!! that makes me so happy💗 so glad it was helpful!
You hav the best vlogs and great foiling the results show your skills
Thank you for freely sharing your knowledge and techniques - as a newer professional (graduated 12/2020 and missed out on a lot of hands on due to Covid - classes were switched to zoom 🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️) I have been relying on lots of tutorials to get my techniques up to par... I am forever grateful!!!!!! 💕💕💕
How come the hair did not fall out and I did not notice the use of Dugase dye
yay! I love that💗
This was a really good video easy to follow. Will definitely try it
Beautiful blend, great dimension & I love the simple partings. Thanks for sharing 😊
Stylist 20 yrs...love your vids. But always shampoo b4 toning....it settles the ph and tonee lasts longer and develops low n slow...bleach particles oxidize toner or even eat it
Thank you! I've watched many tutorials & have done lots of placements on different people. I did your placement & section today and it turned out perfect! She even gave me a huge hug & said it's her favorite highlights she's ever had. Thank you so much!
that makes me so happy🥰🥰 this is my go-to for super blonde yet natural results! so glad your client loved it!!💗
i like how you dont tease the hair alot of stylists do so they dont get a line of demarcation but you didnt have any lines it looked great
Excellent ,thank you for you great job
This was the best foiling technique i have seen. Thank you so much.
What’s the reasoning with the board i feel like it waist time whats your thoughts
it’s personal preference, I didn’t used to use a board but found that it works great on the back and sides of the head to get as close as I can to the scalp and have a surface to paint on!
Rinsing with water then shampoo is very important because the residues of bleach eat (oxidize) the color molecules by time
Loved this video thanks for sharing. And that you said don’t over think it, definitely guilty of that sometimes 😀
Laura Selig I am totally guilty of overthinking as well! it’s a lot of pressure, but I do my best when I go where the hair takes me😊
ur translation was embarassed me
Another amazing stylist on UA-cam like your self is hair by Kristi Jennings sooo good!!
Love the techniques. I just can’t pre mix my sides and front (the 30 vol) before I’m ready to use it. Like from the beginning. Doesn’t the lightener loose it’s lifting strength if it sits for too long?
sometimes I end up having to mix a little more, but I just like to save time by doing it at the beginning. I haven’t had any issues with it loosing strength
Thank you for these simplified highlighting technique videos! I sometimes feel intimidated by the sectioning for highlights but now I feel like I can be confident and create beautiful hair! ❤️
yay, I love that 🥰 I will be doing more highlighting videos soon! it’s my favorite service to do!
Do you do vertical hairline on the back? I feel like it’s too stripey unless you do both sides vertically and the one at the base horizontal 🤷♀️ I’m not that far into the video so was surprised to see you didn’t do that with this client. When they pull their hair up it makes SUCH A DIFFERENCE
beautiful work and well explained, thanks!
I absolutely love your attention to detail. Wonderful tutorial. I have stopped hairdressing due to health but I had my hair done 2 days ago, hadn't had a colour done in 1 year due to having my baby, reason for being so excited too and I cried various times throughout the day and the next because it turned out terrible that being the foils and cut. I really thought I was losing my common knowledge due to many years of zero practice and having to tell my hairdresser what to do made me feel so uncomfortable and of course never listened to me anyway and tried to back herself up. But her foils were so messy, she never used a comb to section and the sections were very random. Then when it came to putting the foil on and closing them she did so by patting the middle part down roughly with her thumbs and closed the package on both sides with her hands. They were the most messy wrinkly foils I'd ever seen. No heat was applied after for uniform colour development. Fortunately she did wash the back and waited another 10 for the front but weren't enough time at all especially with no heat applied. I'm a natural ash blonde. It had taken her an hr to complete a half head of foils not to mention the pain due to over tension on every section. Only 3 foils applied to sides also... Then the toner was applied (which she weren't gonna put on but I insisted and was double the price initially quoted) to towel 'patted' hair (barely taken wetness out of hair) and left on for 8mins only that including application time. Then washed very quickly with no attention given and then a standard blow-dry was extremely painful and scolding. The layer cut was roughly done dry in order to remove length first but was not corrected when colour was completed and wet to make sure all sections were done correctly. Been as I am a hairdresser myself I knew the sections were roughly chopped and not cut into to make it soft. I insisted in having it cut wet but she was sure it was fine and refused 3 times. I couldn't wait to get out of there 😔. So disappointing and complex hitting when you were looking for a lift after waiting so long to do my hair after a trumatic birth and long recovery. Just so sad. I came on here to see how it was supposed to be done even though I do know as I've been to other hairdressers and been taught in college and within a salon myself so I really appreciated your tutorial thanks! X
This demonstration is great. I watched it more to observe posture because as stylists we have to be mindful of our standing position not to strain our bodies and yours is great!!
thank you!!!
Wow! Just found your channel and I love it! Professional hairdresser here 👋🏼 great job!
Jessie Vela you’re so sweet! yay! love meeting other hairdressers on here💗 thx for watching 😊
im in school and doing highlighting right now. this helped a lot to reassure me on what im doing. great job! felt like i was watching my teacher
yay! thats so awesome, and such a sweet complement! I've always wanted to teach, so I'm glad this was helpful for you💗
@@WholyHair it really was! I'll be back to watch more! In school, they always teach the basics so it's also nice to see different ways of doing it. We've had to rush our classes because of xmas so this really helped me!
Hi holy hear what is hear hear natural what is natural color you hav tell what is natural hear hear
Hi holey hear what is hear natural hear hear what is natural hear befour you put bleach
love it. I have a question, what's the best thing to do if a client has white hair on hairlines and I'm doing highlights with bleach? Should I do the base color first then do highlights with bleach? I've done lowlights, highlights at the same time but it didn't cover the white hair.
Thank-you for every single steps you showed us 💕 ❤️😘🥰
Take out the foil before the Clint Layton the sink very smale step but very important ❤️❤️❤️
I just got foil highlights done from a salon and now my hairs literal rainbow
Hi sweetheart, why did you sliced on top bit , if you weaved not good , I guess weaving is more natural, it’s my opinion
Hi holley hear if hear is black can you do highlight complet hear color what bleach you us what developer you us yes or no full hear color
Where are you? I need a hair stylist who knows how to do this! I have had nothing but failure with stylists, they have no clue what they are doing yet I see all of you on you tube who are so talented and I cry because I want you to do my hair!
Look for matrix bleach finder to see why it's important to shampoo hair very well after bleaching
Cool! Why do they color sooo baaaad in the hair salons?🤷🤷🤷 I had 3!!! hairdressers but all times it was terrible
This is slightly sped up.
yes, it is!
Big love from other side of the world..very helpful technique...
I love the way you did it ! I own a hair salon I definitely will recommend this video to my hairstylist ❤
How long do you normally take to finish full head highlights ? How many foil do you use?
One tip I would interject with for people just learning, and watching this video for guidance: the SECOND you mix your bleach with the developer the timer starts. So if you are using two bowls, there is no reason to mix the second bowl until you get there. ( so maybe have the unmixed, pre-measured developer and bleach of choice *ready* to mix, but on standby.) That is just my tip for newbies who are typically going to be struggling with the timing (because whether it’s on hair or not, bleach stops processing after a very specific time once activated)
yes, this is true! I foil really quickly so I find it easier to mix ahead💗
I thought she said she was going to do two on one side and then alternate
I'm a bit confused as to why you didn't shampoo out the and lightener Before applying the toner? I've never seen that done before.
I definitely rinsed out the lightener before applying the toner
Thank you for this in depth video! You did a great job explaining everything clearly! Will be trying this out soon💛
gabriela castro thank you!! let me know how it turns out💗💗
If ok I ask😭🥺💔. What ratio do you use for full highlights?
I really enjoyed your video. You are very explicit. I learned a lot from you. Not everyone shared everything they do!
Cool video!
What board are you using? What brand is this?
I just came across your channel. So glad I did! I love your video. I’m in school now and these are so helpful. You are definitely goals 😊
Steph B. thank you!!! that means so much 💗💗
Just wanted to share ...
I used this placement today when I did a blue fashion colour on the ends of a girls hair.
The whole process was made effortless with this layout and sectioning so thanks gf!!!
that’s amazing, and so good to hear! this is my go to sectioning 💗 been doing it for years and it’s always a winner ✨
I loved your work thank Iwll like to know what color you use in your hair please
Great job on the client!
I am astonished by your hair, wondering what you've used for that amazing pinkish tone colour ❤ its beautiful
I have a few videos on my channel of how I color my hair!
Loved the video! I have a question so what does a Mohawk section do when you use it in foiling?
also, why do you slice instead of weave when you got to the top of the head?
for a blonder look on top
Beautiful! I'm licensed but haven't worked in a salon yet.... I'm about to get myself back into working a bit.... How would you go about doing 2 colors with this technique? For example if the client wanted blond highlights but wanted red low lights in all the hair that wasn't highlighted. Thanks for such a great informative video.
I dont recommend red with blonde cause it can turn the blonde pink when they wash their hair, unless they always wash in super cold water! but I have some highlight and lowlighting techniques on my channel! ill link one
ua-cam.com/video/egrUn8pkjjs/v-deo.html
@@WholyHair You can wash the red color out first very carefully leaving the foils in until well rinsed than pull blonde foils out rinse and shampoo.
You are wonderful, I learned a lot, thank you!
I love this way of foiling ever since I stumbled upon this video but something I've noticed is that there are harsh lines on the top section when I do it from the back. My clients don't like the root smudge so how do I avoid getting the harsh lines?
take smaller sections on the top, like babylight pieces. it depends on the color you’re starting with and texture of their hair as to how thick or thin to do the sectioning, every client will be a little different
Clients may not care if you use a stool, but the salon owner or manager might 😔 was told at one salon that it “looked unprofessional,” and by another that it was, “against state board,” despite not finding anything on the board’s website about that
oh no! that just seems like an excuse, I'm sorry they won't let you! Honestly the salon I used to work at years ago would have probably had a similar response
Hii mam i from 🇮🇳 India i like your tecnek
thank you
Where is your salon located please?
Hello. Can I ask what is the specific name of that board your using? That black one. 🙏
Why do you prefer doing horizontal sections in the sides versus diagonal back
it just depends on the client!
Thank you so much! I felt embarrassed searching for techniques, but now I don’t. Lol! I have problems with bleeders and I think i folded the foils 2x instead of 1x. Also the board was genius!!!
it also depends on the clients hair type and how heavy the foils are, and their hair! Bleeds can happen to anyone, it still happens to me every once in a while! You'll learn little tricks to avoid them as you keep practicing!
You know, you approach this very scientifically, which I appreciate as a logical person.
A lot of people look at hairnstyling as an artistic profession - which it is - but, there a lot of knowledge and logic that goes into it as well. You show and explain this balance wonderfully.
Gratifull so good work🌻
Love the video and your technique. Please don’t skip the foil pull, all those wonderful, fresh highlights right out of the foil.. mmm! That’s the best part.
Hi what was hear hear natural
This is so helpful 🫶🏼
Quick question
On the 15 developer and 30 would you still use same levels on virgin hair?
I would appreciate the response 💖☺️
love your salon!!!
fellow stylist here. would love any support you can give
!
BeckoningBeauty i’m actually editing a video right now with safety tips for fellow stylists going back to work! it should be done and up next week 🤓
Thank you this helped me so much with sectioning and application. Any tips on how to achieve neat parting with a comb or clip
How long does it take you to do these full highlights? How long should it take?
it usually takes me 45 min - an hour to apply a full highlight depending on how much hair they have
@wholy.hair are you in New York City? Please advise where your beauty bar is located. Great work.
Where do you purchase your highlighting board? Cosmoprof or Salon centric?
I believe I got it at cosmoprof, it was several years ago though
@@WholyHair thank you
@@GinaPickett Framar has some too
For this upper sections which formula did you use....very nice tutorial...💖💖💖
It would be so awesome to shadow you. I like the way you explain what you’re doing and why. Thank you! I have foil work on Wednesday and I wanted to get an idea of what else others are doing aside from what I’m learning in school right now. Thank you!
How does your foil stay gurlll mine be movin
At college we don’t even use highlighter boards it’s even harder then, I only tried my first time at foil highlights a few days ago and I was pasting the foil first so the hair stuck to it first and then pasted it again after 😃 I dunno if I was supposed to do it that way , I guess I’ll find out when it gets marked lol 😝
Excellent tutorial 😉
my mom wants her hair purple with highlights but she had fine hair and wants finer highlights, if do the hair that is not highlighted with purple will it still look good?
Wish I had to highlight my hair! Great job !
💛💛💛 love this video. Was wondering how long did you leave the foils on before you rinsed it out?
Great job, can i ask you something? How did you get 15 volume? Thanks
Where are you located in ?
When the person wears their hair up all the time how would you section them hair ? Mohawk?
How long does it take you to do the full application? Watching on mute so sorry if you already mentioned
about 45 minutes
I have a problem when highlighting, the roots always are warmer than the rest of the hair before and after toning, & I can’t seem to figure out how to get it to not do that.
Un saludo desde España ❤
I really like your video. I am returning to cosmetology after a long time. I was in the Navy when my license expired.
I am scheduled for my state board practical April 20, 2023. Woo-hoo.
Back in my day we used those awful caps with a tiny crochet hook. I originally graduated beauty school in 1989. It's been a while.
It's good to see how techniques have changed. Amazingly many of the tasks stayed the same.
You should consider being an instructor. You have a talent to not only hold interest in your video, but you gave clearcand easy to follow directions. And on top of all of that your client's hair is beautiful.
that’s amazing you’re getting your license again 💗 my goal is to teach more, I am launching online courses in a few days on my site wholyhair.com if you’re interested! In person classes will be coming soon as well ☺️
I’m curious as to why you only do every other section and why you don’t go to the roots (on the scalp) ??
is it better to not bend the foil with ling hair or just fold it? should i use one or 2 foils? for each strand
Very nice hair color
You make this look so easy! I wish I could see the back of my head so I could do it myself. Lol😂
highlighting is so hard to do on ourselves! I know a girl who can foil her whole head, so crazy!!
I like the way you explained everything! Blessings.
I've been a stylist for the past 8 years and I'm just now getting into coloring and highlights and placement and sections are not my strong point so thank you for this video it helped a lot I'm just gonna keeping practicing and hope for the best thank you so much
A absolutely beautiful
Absolutely Beautiful
Thank you so much.
I dyed my hair pearl blonde and my hair is dirty blonde
What highlight color should I use on my hair ?
Equal parts of your shades Eq?
yes! 💗
I have an exam on foils tomorrow and this video gave me so much confidence with partings and placing the foils.
What was the toner
Thanks, 💘 U.
God bless you and your family
Why did you decide to slice at the top instead of weave?
Cos student here!
I feel like it’s kind of unnecessary to weave the mowhawk section because of the way it falls and I can get closer to the scalp if I slice! but it’s totally personal preference, this is what I found works best for me 😊
