Some players have said that playing against Federer is suffocating. He takes the ball extremely early, goes to the net without hesitation, attacks mercilessly with his cross-court forehand... This video is a perfect example of this suffocating strategy...
what you say is true, what is not said is every single aspect of his game i would take over any other player - certainly when you add it to the rest of his game. his backhand was supposedly a weakness ...., by the time of 2017 it was better - better than any other when you include every situation he hit it in - the variety of striking - and the accuracy and consistency of result ... oh and do not forget the strategic choice behind the shot ....
Well said! I think the point that really sticks out to me after reading this comment is the one at 13:49. After a relatively good first serve from Djokovic, Federer nails a deep return, and immediately attacks, rushing to the net to finish off a point with a soft touch leaving no breathing room for Djokovic; no chance whatsoever to react or counter attack, or anything really. When a player is relentless at attacking you, that is exactly how you feel, suffocated and Djokovic demonstrated that through his body language after that point.
Do you know why Federer is so rich? Because he plays with so much joy, always dancing with the ball, making the audience always love him more than any other tennis player even though they don't really like tennis that much. In short, when you love something, you should play it with extreme love and everyone watching will automatically follow your frequency when you play, that is the most natural attraction to become rich.
I remember him playing so well, but when he lost the second set against Nadal and fell, I thought all was over. Well, he proved me wrong! The 2017 AO match somewhat reminds me of this match, both in terms of how effective his backhand was and how he regrouped and played better even after Nadal threatened to come back.
Weak era king struggled and was getting ass whooping against clay court specialist in the form of Rafa early in his career but in your delusional mind he will beat prime Novak any day of the week.
i really enjoyed watching roger play tennis he had so much more to offer than a boring baseline humdrum shootout others are simply boring yet they also win and a few have won more titles but so boring and monotonous to view he really was the magician who brought the game to a different level
I give a lot of credit to Andy Murray. his is a great story for British Tennis. He overcame an awful lot to succeed as he did. Very intelligent player. As far as RF here ...., i taught tennis briefly around 1980 - RF does everything i wanted my students to do just one time in practice. he does it every shot and one runs out of superlatives - so now i just say " disgusting !"
Too bad there isn't an indoor grand slam. Federer would have gotten a few more slams. It was so easy on the eyes to watch Federer play offensive tennis.
Dhokovic is the greatest, no doubt, but Federer simply decides his own fate with his style. He either wins, or beats himself. There were rare moments when Federer was in the zone and got outplayed. Even when he lost those important matches against Djokovic and Nadal, he did it all by himself, on account of his mental weakness in important moments. US Open 2015 comes to mind as an example. Looking at stats, it was very close, even for a 4-setter. Federer had like 30 break points, only converting 4-5. Djokovic saved some of those breaks with incredible tennis, but most times Federer was missing easy shots, due to the pressure.
He always seemed so passive on break points. The 2007 RG final comes to mind. Seemed like he was sitting back and waiting for Nadal to make an error every time he got one. There were times when I was extremely baffled and frustrated while watching Fed that I didn’t experience while watching Nadal or Djokovic.
Also Fed’s attacking style overwhelmed most players, but racquet technology, slowing of courts, and better tennis fitness/strength/speed just naturally meant his game would be less effective over time.
Is he? They played each other for 15 years at a racket sport called tennis and Federer won more rallies than Djokovic did. Doesn't that make Federer better?
@@danthomas4198 He was better at winning their rallyes, games and sets. Djokovic was better at winning their matches and at winning matches and tournaments against the rest of the field. Choose your preferred currency.
Hey, I am a big sports fan as a university student. I am interested in interrogating top athletes and influencers to make content that shows their daily efforts to perform at their highest level. Would you be interested? Cool, I am planning to create short-form content and other engagement services to promote their training schedules and more. At the moment, I am conducting market research to learn about their daily routines, satisfaction, what they like, struggles, and more. I appreciate it if you could answer a few questions on this topic.
Playing with the tour 90 for so long is just nuts. And generating that much power in his shots is crazy!
BIG mistake....

@@samy29987very fast, and that is what Safin said about Federer: let's see the way he destroyed the match!
@@terrenceolivido741 Na, best backhand goes to Stanimal.
We take it for granted because of his other shots (and I guess it’s not as flashy), but that serve is one of the greatest shots of all time.
It is one the greatest shots of all time and also one of the most beautiful motions !
Pete's serve is better. And few other guys too.
Fantastic. 1 accuracy, 2 quality of his stategic plays and 3 killer instinct. That's what strikes me in this set of matches.

his ball sense was perfect
I was at the semi and that was about as close to perfect as I’ve ever seen in tennis. Absolutely unreal
Nobody plays like him and will ever play like him.
Red shirt Roger was sublime

A prime Federer beats a prime Djokovic any day the week.
On Sunday as well?
What a joke . Federer loses 3 matches and wins 1 and his fans be like he is better . Just because novak plays bad federer wins sometimes too

A 17 year old clay courter beat Prime Federer on a fast hard court.😂.Imagine what prime Djokovic would do.
Thats a lie 🤥
