      It's an amazing update, maybe not the most packed in features but definitely what Pigments needed :)

    The reason why VST2 can take direct audio in is because Bitwig is overriding how VST2 instruments are supposed to work, and also because VST2 has no concept of sidechain inputs -- it used to be that Arturia instruments could also take the "main" input into their instruments as well but only Bitwig supported those well; for Ableton in particular it was impossible without a sidechain input to route audio into their plugins (i.e. the old Mini V3 or the MS20), they changed it to always take from sidechain inputs in all plugin formats that support it instead.
    This doesn't change the Bitwig workflow much though, because you can always take previous devices' output within the same track as sidechain input for later plugins.
    Also, you can also directly route MIDI output from Pigments into other plugins in Bitwig because Bitwig simply allows MIDI within the entire track, and allows devices to modify the MIDI data. You can see it with the yellow squares that the plugin you put after Pigments would receive the MIDI output of the sequencer. You can even drive the Bitwig native instruments with it!

    Ollie... make sure you click on the settings cog wheel, in the top right and turn on Multi Core - not sure why this is not on by default. Who in this day and age is running a single core CPU?

    I will probably buy Pigments today. Acid V is on my wishlist as well as Avenger 2 and Icarus. If you would to add a few more to my list, what would it be? Fatastic video btw.

    Top !

    Why does Arturia brings allways a new version from their V collection synths and no direct updates while Pigments gets allways direct updates? Since buying V collection I have 4 seperate Versions of CS80V, that sucks.

    Anyone know how to trigger the sequencer like he does in Acid V , inside of Logic Pro X ?

    How did you get the pigments sequencer to drive Acid-V as I use Bitwig also and could not understand how you managed to do that?

    • @kaislate
      @kaislate 8 місяців тому +1

      I would also like to know how this is done. I use Ableton so maybe it is not possible.

    • @olliepsy
      @olliepsy  8 місяців тому +2

      In Ableton or Bitwig you can route the midi from any midi channel to any midi channel. all you need to do is set the midi input of a given channel to the source (Pigments in this case) you need and midi will be routed.
      Just like if you set audio in on an audio channel, same principle.
      If this doesn't work, you can always refer to the manual :)

      Actually @dadda just did a really nice video explaining how to do so, check it out:

      I knew that you can route midi to/from tracks in Ableton, but I didn't know that Pigments now passes the midi out of the VST. This is fairly rare for a plugin to do. Even other plugins that have similar sequencing, etc only routes the midi internally inside the plugin and isn't available to "send" to another track.
      This is really cool of Arturia to do. Also, Bitwig seems to be pretty powerful in being able to utilize multi instruments per track if I understand that right. Really cool stuff! :)

      @@olliepsydid some quick testing with v5 last night. I see the oscillator retrigger is still more random than other synths like serum, but it’s better than v4 but still not 100% rock solid. Do you see this as a problem for bass?

    • @olliepsy
      @olliepsy  8 місяців тому

      @@sheppo it's not random, it wiggles a bit like if there's a tiny bit of midi delay applied on some notes and I'm not sure why exactly this happens but it's the same with many synths like Vital!
      It's not that big of an issue because you'll end up rendering the bass to audio anyways and I bet you can't hear the difference you only see it on the analyzer
