ive still got the PS2 i got for my 14th birthday that came with a copy of Metal Gear Solid 2. played the hell out of that game cause i was a broke kid who only ever got games for christmas or birthdays or had to save up for ages with my pocket money.😂. Yes lets encourage people who don't want to play the games to buy them that way the prices increase more. I swear people who make these types of videos only do so to make more money off of inflated retro game prices.
You might be right on that, still this channel is too small to have that kind of influence. I think it is about attention. The more reflected on these games, the more people want them. Demand push the price up. But still it sucks, there are games I want but can't bring myself to pay that much for them.
My Friend, I have children that despite me having a vast collection of video games ranging from Nes to PS5 and everything in between. My kids just want to play FORTNITE.. Thats the world we live in today. The younger generations just want Multiplayer and silly youtube.
Brother I hear you. Got two boys myself, same thing only want to play fortnite. Instant gratification I suppose, they don't have patients to grind and finish a game. But that is the way things go the new generation will determine the market.
Cut off the online gaming and show them the ways of the classic. We as grown gamers are in charge of passing down torches of gem games and gaming for the kids to know how to truely appreciate the games and not just understand use credit card for skins and upgrades.
I just ordered a replacement for my old PS2, which finally gave up the ghost. I considered a PS5 but, with no backwards compatibility, that was a non-starter. Like you, i have no interest in most of the "modern" games as they are basically interactive movies at this point.
Exactly, the long cut scenes, I get annoyed because I want to play. now you sit for 2 hours, walk a bit, watch a movie rinse and repeat. Death Stranding. they overexplain everything.
to answer your question from the title- there won't be a time where you shouldn't buy a ps2. I don't think you should buy 200$ hdmi mods for it though haha
ehhh, a PS2 is great, however a fat PS3 might be better bc you can play PS1-3 games. Or using PCSX2 thanks to 4K, save states. And being able to use any gamepad without extra cost. But you do you man.
get a backwards compatible PS3 like I have, play ps1,2,3 games whenever you want to. My PS5 will still remaine my main console because I enjoy modern graphics and gameplay but for nostalgia ps3 does its job, im 34 btw

I have a fat boy hooked up to my CRT for light gun games and a slim hooked up to a Bitfunx for a super crisp picture with scan-lines on my Sony Bravia TV. Outrun 2 coast to coast just looks beautiful. PS2 is awesome. So many great great games. Is it worth buying? As said, I have 2!
Absolutely, I am currently looking for a second on, and an old TV.
ive still got the PS2 i got for my 14th birthday that came with a copy of Metal Gear Solid 2. played the hell out of that game cause i was a broke kid who only ever got games for christmas or birthdays or had to save up for ages with my pocket money.😂. Snake Eater is probably still my most replayed game on any system but i also played and replayed played a lot of Ominusha, Psi ops, soul reaver 2 and both God Of War games on that console.
GOW 1 and 2 are great, Psi -op man so underrated. I should play Metal gear, never have.
@@LikeYesterday-sv3kr Psi ops really should have been the franchise they wanted it to. those power mechanics are still fresh today. You'll get purists who will tell you you should play metal gear solid in the chronological order the story takes place in but honestly release order is best. they have an hd collection for the ps3 but its missing the first game in the Solid series. that original ps1 game is very pricey if you find it out in the wild but is pretty cheap on the playstation network as a digital download last i looked. if however you ever come across the Metal Gear Solid Legacy Collection for the PS3 for a reasonable price snap it up as it has every game that was released up to that point and is becoming a highly collectible game.
You can put a hardrive in a fat ps2 and get every game 🎮.
I've heard about this, what are you playing?
The best time to buy a PS2 is yesterday. The second best time to buy a PS2 is now.
While there is still consoles out there.
The best time to buy a PS2 is 20 years ago.
The second best is today.
PS2 and gen 6 is the last consoles with real new games. After that, everything is just cut and paste with better graphics, bigger maps, larger stage, more characters...etc, etc...because of more powerful tech.
So true, thanx for the comment.
The best part about the playstation 2 is all the games come complete no downloading extra crap no micro transaction and two players games are amazing! Buy a playstation 3 to play playstation 2 games output in 240 and 480 p
That is a very good point. Pop it in, load, Play. Later consoles takes so looooong.
I recently just bought a PS2 and a few games that I had growing up. I found my old PS1 memory cards plugged them in and got to experience game saves from 20 plus years ago lol. The console is amazing and it's a shame companies like you said are becoming a monopoly and letting go of their artistic creativity in favor of money.
20 years old saved games, that is awesome. The days of the memory card.
I break out my PS2 all the time. I love Summoner (super relaxing and fun), Max Payne (better than the Xbox version), and Disgaea Hours of Darkness.
The beauty is having the option of replaying our favorite titles. Some games are gifts, made to revisit and get joy from.
PS2! just got a new one to play Cold Winter
Awesome, let me know how it is.
Very well put together video and retrospective on an amazing console. The DVD option and GTA III are honestly what made me change over from Nintendo to PlayStation at this generation. Still an amazing system and possibly in retrospect one of the best generations in gaming. 🍻
Thank you so much. It is one of the greatest consoles. the games sells the system.
true im born 00s and i grew up at the end of ps2 life cycle and straight to xbox 360. and nowdays i feel games are soul less. and i went recently back to ps2/ps3. been collecting on ps2 now for 3 months having a blast. my fav silent hill 2/3 .lord of the rings return of the ring. and few more. i feel like there is perhaps 1 good game a year on pc. 2024 been an ok year tho. but i only use ps5 for series xD or else it youst sits there
The fun factor remains in the older generations, When gaming was for fun and nothing else. Today it is taken way to serious.
If you are a game collector then ps2 is worth having in your collector,s show case playing it on a crt or even on a 4k monitor but if you really wanna play it beyond it limitations you just get a decent pc
Gamers find a way.
This is funny I’m ready to buy a ps2 because their is nothing to play I miss the old game to play like Dynasty Warriors
As a kind gift to yourself, It is like a old lost friend you haven't seen in years, welcoming you into a warm embrace of joy and happiness.
Yes definitely
I only found out the new Xbox you can pay $20 one off developers fee and then download the emulater software and play all the old games. Videos online on how to do it. Setup takes about an hour. When my PS2 and 360 die, i think this will be the route i am taking. Love the older games. 47 and still loving it all. 😊❤
That is great to know, Fun knows no age. Think your right about the future, emulators might be our saving grace.
I accidentally left my old PS2 from my childhood plugged in without using it for too long and ruined it, so I am going to have to get a new PS2 Slim at some point. Found out they now have refurb ones on Amazon. It really is a fantastic system. I have a lot of the good games from it too.
Hi, luckily there are plenty of PS2s out there. One of the best systems.
@@LikeYesterday-sv3kr Yeah, I've played a lot of great games on PS2. It was soooo awesome to collect fighting games on in particular. Soulcalibur III I think is still to this day exclusive to PS2, and it's one of the best in the series.
Glad other people agree ☺️
All these triple A companies need to do is to refuse ESG funding and hire good devs to complete their games before release instead of launching them unfinished and charging extra for season pass ext.
Seems they just want the money printing multiplayer model developed by single player teams.
I have just recently found out that a ps2 slim that i was given has been scratching all my ps2 games with the ribbon cable inside. Its a common falt of the ps2 slim ive heard.Very dissapointed as some of these discs ive had 20 odd years are were worth a fortune.
Noooooooooooooooooooooo!
lots of love man. keep it up
Cheers brother.
Agree, the question should why don't you buy a PS2.
Controller looking greasy af in the thumb, lmao
Always. Why is that? Secondhand controller thing.
@@LikeYesterday-sv3krIt's because If you get a brand new duel shock 2 It actually has a matte coating on it Which turns glossy over time :)
ehhh, a PS2 is great, however a fat PS3 might be better bc you can play PS1-3 games. Or using PCSX2 thanks to 4K, save states. And being able to use any gamepad without extra cost. But you do you man.
That is true, but I don't trust the fat model, the angry yellow light of doom.
Got one but screen resolution is not ideal not clear with the standard connection.
There are HDMI adaptors out there to help with that, but to an extent the bad resolution ads to the charm.
get a backwards compatible PS3 like I have, play ps1,2,3 games whenever you want to. My PS5 will still remaine my main console because I enjoy modern graphics and gameplay but for nostalgia ps3 does its job, im 34 btw
PS3 is super underrated.
You mean PCSX2 right? PS2 hasn't been in production for about 20yrs.
This is exactly why this console killed the Xbox.
I heard Microsoft are selling their exclusive console I.P.s to Sony and Nintendo. Looks like they are stepping away from the console space. They have not made profit on any Xbox consoles ever.
@@LikeYesterday-sv3kr Yes, because you have to have proper console selling games in order to sell consoles.
theres no point i have 3 ps2,s never use them buy an early ps3 that plays everything good luck si
to exp the worse graphics of that generation with the worse performance worse clairity it helps you appreciate all the other consoles thats why
Ha ha ha. I suppose that is one way to look at it. Got the nostalgia for this one. Playing it now, those old legendary games. The consoles are better, but the games on the old systems where something special.
Modern gaming is brain rot.
Good observation.
i will not subscibe because you asked at the beggining i hate this kind of creators....
Hi, thanx for the tip, will keep it in mind for the next video.
No. Don't do it.
You won't regret it.
Why would you buy it when emulation is available
