  • In her memoir, Golda Meir said that “Israel’s enemies must know that the surprise we know as the Yom Kippur War will never, ever recur.” For fifty years she was right. But recent event demonstrate that those who fail to learn the mistakes of history will indeed be condemned to repeat them.
Uri Kaufman, author of "Eighteen Days in October: the Yom Kippur War and How it Created the Modern Middle East", will explain how Israel was caught by surprise on October 7, and how, as in 1973, it will recover and ultimately win. You may purchase the book at a.co/d/0MU38EJ

    About the speaker:
After putting himself through CUNY’s Queens College at night, Uri Kaufman attended New York University School of Law and graduated with honors in 1989. Kaufman subsequently became a real estate developer, specializing in adaptively restoring historic buildings, winning awards at the national and state level. His Harmony Mills project appears on the homepage of the New York State Historic Preservation Office’s website, hailed by officials as perhaps the finest example of restoring New York’s rich architectural heritage.
For over twenty years, Kaufman visited the battlefields, interviewed veterans, and reviewed thousands of pages of declassified records. Kaufman is fluent in Hebrew and hired a team of researchers to translate Russian, Arabic and German records (to review Stasi files describing Syria). Eighteen Days in October is the first history of the Yom Kippur War to be released in almost twenty years, and the first with access to previously classified information.
