      Oh yeah of course. This is feeling like a good fit for stuff that doesn't require a deep dive and 4-5 days of production, but avoids me just doing a short. This takes roughly 25% of the time to produce so it will be in addition to the main vids.

    • @1Devilzay1
      @1Devilzay1 11 місяців тому

      @@badseedtech If that's the case, then yeah this format is perfect to fit that gap and help you free up time for the stuff that really warrants the deep dives and high production. So please do more!

      I like this format of video, but it might be a good idea to have a quick review or notes of the background info of the product so you don't give false information or lack it and have to edit/interject with text in post production. It would just help the video flow a little bit better. But otherwise, great stuff! Also I agree that your other videos are just soooo produced and hope those don't go away, but I understand how lengthy of a process that can be. Keep it up!

    Let me know what you think of the new format. This obviously isn't going to work for stuff that requires lots of deep testing or conveying tons of info, but for stuff I know pretty well, this feels pretty good to me.

      I liked it, feels more casual.
      The cut to give the foam correction was a little jarring.
      If you have to amend a section a small post reshoot feels a little less immersion breaking IMO.

    This is exactly what I needed to know in a perfect quick format. Thanks so much. Been debating on whether or not to get this board since I often change my setup, and thought this would save me time in the long run just switching the caps and top instead of buying a whole new board.

    I really like this vibe, but honestly I think it only works because you're already very experienced in your previous style of content so that this still holds much of the informational value that your usual, more tedious and harder to produce stuff would have. A veeeeery slight miss for me was the absence of on-screen kg information as I'm not too well versed in pounds and ounces but yea, just a tiny miss really. It would be really interesting to still see a more traditional BST vid on this board and A/B compare the two, as I'd love to know all the stuff I might be "missing" about this board.

    I agree with your conclusion. I will stick with my Everest Max + DisplayPad, but I'd be comfortable recommending this for a friend who's not into keyboards but who needs a mechanical keyboard for not a ton of money. As a comparison I not-too-recently recommended a Keychron K8 to a friend of mine in that boat, and I put Everglide Crystal Violet switches in it because she likes purple.
    For somebody who's more into it, I don't think this offers much that's unique other than a swappable top cover...and I don't see swapping that very often without also swapping the keycaps.

    Love the content BST. I bought the board right after the review was over off your link. I love this thing BUT few issues I have with it. 1-the lip by the space bar drives me nuts but that will take getting use to as I came from a huntsman tournament. 2-I use the superglue glass pad and this doesn’t have adjustable feet on it so taking time to get use to that as well being further away. but all around great keyboard. Thanks for all your reviews.

I can put the board together, plug it in, and use a VIA app (not website) on my computer to configure it immediately. If that board could make that claim, I'd probably pick one up soon.

    When will one of these "entry" level custom -ish keyboard makers come out with something that has Hall effect switches? I think it's a decent prebuilt but I'm not sure it's worth the money right now. There are a lot of amazing budget keyboards out there so there is some massive competition. Drop has definitely made a huge improvement with this board compared to the others. With it being plastic, I just can't justify the price. Monsgeek M3 is fully CNC aluminum gasket mount with daughter board and full assortment of foams. I recently built one for a friend and it turned out amazing. However, Drop does have some decent sales sometimes so maybe it would be worth it during one of those and if you are the kinda person that wants to change out the top plate for something interesting. Drop does have nice designs for their premade keyboards.

    Don't mind this format at all. Not all products require an in depth video, as long as the quality is still maintained. Just be careful to not fall into the "first impressions/unboxing" trap because quality can take a hit if not done carefully (ala the whole LTT mousefeet protector fiasco). Gasket mount, hotswap, VIA, south-facing switches... finally DROP has caught up with the rest of the world feature-wise. But Keychron's K8 (which came out 3 years ago, around the same time as the DROP-CTRL) has the same features for $60 less (currently on sale for $90 less). And you can get an all-aluminum Monsgeek M3 for $20 less. It seems like a really good board , but $150 for a plastic keyboard is still kinda high. I'm sure they'll sell like crazy though.

    All I want to know is if drop is still autorouting their pcb traces like they did with ctrl and alt. The amount they charge for such massive corners cut like autorouting is a crime. Most pcb's stopped working within a year because of such laziness, greed and ineptitude. Nearly 8 min vid, 26 pictures on their official store page, not 1 shot of the back of the pcb. If they're still doing autoroute garbage, STAY FAR AWAY DO NOT BUY

    The DIY version is $100...but it doesn't come with any top case. It's essentially $125 for the DIY and then you still need to buy switches or keycaps. The DIY discount doesn't seem at all significant. Almost a hindrance.
