The Who are a real rock band and have been since they first started unfortunately they lost Keith moon and his departure didn’t dry up Towsends pen as they continued to sell out huge arenas around the globe and probably would if they had a tour planned in the future but they aren’t the same as they are old people who can still rock
Rockmaster Best part of this concert is when he first addressed the crowd. “Sit down, stand up, sit down, stand up. When we do festivals we like our audience FIT.”
Thanks again for that, I didn't know what Pete was saying there either...LoL, maybe this 60 yr. old Rocker needs to get my hearing checked. Rock - n - Roll !
The foreman over there hates the gang The poor people on the porch get it so rough The truck driver drives like a devil The policemen - they're acting so tough They need water Good, good water We need water And I'm sure there ain't one of us here Who'd say, "no" to somebody's daughter (No[?] no[?] no[?] no[?] no[?]) Sampson seems sorta sweaty The draftsmen- they smudged their work The captain of a ship is swimming Then just wore off a keen bank clerk [Chorus] We need water Good, good water We need water And maybe somebody's daughter [Verse 2] Come on, gimme good water[x3] Please don't refuse me, mister I've seen your daughter at the oasis And I'm beginning to blister A Chevrolet just made steam Your crop is laying fallow My grass skirt's lost its green I'm alive, but I don't know how [Chorus] [Verse 3] Gimme good water Indian Lake is burning New York's skyline is hazy The River Thames is turning dry The whole world is a-blazing [Chorus] [Outro] Ah, gimme what I need Please, water, water, water, water, water, water Gimme water Water Water (Water[?]) And I'm sure there ain't one of us here Who'd say "no" to somebody's daughter (Oh, no) Whoa[?] No, no, no, no, no[?] No, whoa
The 2004 or whenever it was remaster is horribly edited. I am not sure if this is whet it is or not. The original 1970's film is quite good but obviously it is of 1970's film quality. Epic concert all around. One of The Who's top 4 or 5 with the original line-up
LoL, I agree. It was Summertime, might be a bit more acceptable if it was Halloween during the concert. Pete looks like he's ready to paint a living room with those Painter/ Milkman coveralls he's sporting.
LoL...Awesome my Friend ! You were so right last night when You wrote that it's Impossible to keep your eyes off Keith in this song. He was a Powerhouse on those Drums !

Roger was a frontman a few years before Plant hit it big with Zeppelin, but like 66rambler stated Plant copied Marriott. Man, I hate it how Steve passed away....he & Frampton had started working together again & then tragedy happened to Steve Marriott. Humble Pie was awesome.
The Who in some form or another were together in 1959. By 1962 they were getting solid even with their old drummer. The Who opened for The Stones and The Beatles. By 1964 when Moon joined The Who, they were ready to dominate the stage. Plant stated that as a young lad, that he was blown away by The Who and especially Roger Daltrey who was 5 years older and already a seasoned front man. So Daltrey came first by 5 years.
My take is this song is about the Strife in peoples lives at the time. The line' poor people on the farms got it so tough' makes me think that. Also the river Thames has run dry, not a good thing if you're a Londoner !
I don't remember where I heard this from, perhaps I am making it up completely but I have faint memory of hearing Pete explain the story about writing this song in some interview. Supposedly after they played the Monterrey Pop Festival Pete indulged in some Acid he scored in the USA on their plane ride back. He had a bad trip from the acid and desperately wanted to be sober again. Needing water when you really need it is a metaphor for begging to be sober again after a bad trip.
Four unique stage demeanors.
Roger, serious.
Pete, pissed off.
John, bored.
Keith, just happy to be Keith!

The Who are a real rock band and have been since they first started unfortunately they lost Keith moon and his departure didn’t dry up Towsends pen as they continued to sell out huge arenas around the globe and probably would if they had a tour planned in the future but they aren’t the same as they are old people who can still rock
100/ agree. Jim.
Daltrey and the treble of the youth
Did he mean Philadelphia, Pa ? And how we say Wudder ?
LoL...Yes, Philadelphia, PA. (Philadelphia Conty) been there many times !
Wow awesome live track..So good together. I loved hearing Daltry imitating an American accent and Pete bitch slapping Moon.
LoL, 'Wahter Wahter'. Pete saying →Down Boy was crazy as he Popped Keith. Thanks, Yes this was 1 great concert......wish I could've been there.
Keith the star here
I wonder if The Who are like this when on tour nowadays? LOL
Keith and John have tamed.
LMAO......Excellent Sir !
longest guitar solo of Pete's career
LOVE KEITH MOON
Me to my friend!
“I smell feet”
LMAO.......took me a few times watching this to understand/comprehend what Pete was saying !
Hippies
LeAd Zeppelin!
The foreman over there hates the gang
The poor people on the porch get it so rough
The truck driver drives like a devil
The policemen - they're acting so tough
They need water
Good, good water
We need water
And I'm sure there ain't one of us here
Who'd say, "no" to somebody's daughter
(No[?] no[?] no[?] no[?] no[?])
Sampson seems sorta sweaty
The draftsmen- they smudged their work
The captain of a ship is swimming
Then just wore off a keen bank clerk
[Chorus]
We need water
Good, good water
We need water
And maybe somebody's daughter
[Verse 2]
Come on, gimme good water[x3]
Please don't refuse me, mister
I've seen your daughter at the oasis
And I'm beginning to blister
A Chevrolet just made steam
Your crop is laying fallow
My grass skirt's lost its green
I'm alive, but I don't know how
[Chorus]
[Verse 3]
Gimme good water
Indian Lake is burning
New York's skyline is hazy
The River Thames is turning dry
The whole world is a-blazing
[Chorus]
[Outro]
Ah, gimme what I need
Please, water, water, water, water, water, water
Gimme water
Water
Water
(Water[?])
And I'm sure there ain't one of us here
Who'd say "no" to somebody's daughter
(Oh, no)
Whoa[?]
No, no, no, no, no[?]
No, whoa
Water Rocks ! I can see you 've listened to this song many many times too. Rock - n - Roll !
Excellent quality. What DVD is this from?
Live at the Isle of White i think
obed salinas gonzalez Wight.
@@arlingtonhynes thanks i thougth it was the color
The 2004 or whenever it was remaster is horribly edited. I am not sure if this is whet it is or not. The original 1970's film is quite good but obviously it is of 1970's film quality. Epic concert all around. One of The Who's top 4 or 5 with the original line-up
@@tdunph4250: After Keith Moon none of their performances would be considered in their top.
After reading the comments, I believe the commentators are just as nuts as the rock musicians seen here.
LoL....I think you're right Mike !
I'm watching this entire Live At Leeds set in the middle of the damn nite drinking‼️ 🍺🍻🥂🥃 *cheers*
Jean-Marie "Animal" du Muppet's show fut inspiré par Moon the Loon
RIP Keith
All this talk of water I have to piss
lmao !
John, I love ya dude, but what the hell are you wearing? Come on man!
LoL, I agree. It was Summertime, might be a bit more acceptable if it was Halloween during the concert. Pete looks like he's ready to paint a living room with those Painter/ Milkman coveralls he's sporting.
There are 12 people who doesn't need water or somebody's daughter...
LoL...Awesome my Friend ! You were so right last night when You wrote that it's Impossible to keep your eyes off Keith in this song. He was a Powerhouse on those Drums !
@@RockmasterVideos It's like you fall into a spell... You just can't avoid to look at him. You can tell that the same thing happened to the cameraman. He was filming Keith A LOT!! ❤️
Who copied who??
Daltrey or Plant?
I don't know, but Plant copied Steve Marriott. Check out some Small Faces circa 1966.
Plant copied Daltrey.
can someone please just give them water?
LoL, I agree.
keith's drum set without a hit hat...sounds too hard
He never used it for live performance, but only during record sessions
Water is really out there as a song. Post-Tommy, before Lifehouse (I think). Any story behind this tune?
My take is this song is about the Strife in peoples lives at the time. The line' poor people on the farms
got it so tough' makes me think that.
This is a Life house song.
Lucie Melahn do you have a link, please? Thanks.
Mario DiSanto thanks.
