One time my ridiculously well-behaved and unnaturally calm Sheltie jumped out of a pickup bed and sprained his hip. When I carried him inside and laid him on the sofa to check on it, I accidentally hurt him and he yelped and instinctively spun around and snapped at my hand. Just as his mouth closed on my wrist and his teeth started to touch me he realized what he was doing, froze, and got a bashful embarrassed look like "Oh, my; what on earth is this hand doing in my mouth?"
It's interesting how people who portray dogs as speaking English usually turn them into bad spellers/speakers. "I'm sawwy"? The dog can talk but only like a "delinquent" from "the wrong side of the tracks"? (^?^)

I can't imagine how much exercise this dog needs on a daily basis to not go completely neurotic. Good on the owners for seemingly having a very healthy and happy pup given the circumstances!
I take my husky border collie for 2 hours in the woods and about an hour playing fetch daily. Probably walk like 3 miles a day scrambling through thick woods. He doesn't mind missing a day if it's really nasty out but 3 days being pent up is about the limit before he starts acting up inside. I've spent a decent amount of time training him to be calm inside the house.
I THINK H&K (one husky, one high content wolf hybrid) said his boys go for 8 mile walks every day or they go into furniture-eating mode. I'd imagine it'd be something similar for this guy.
@@GilraenTook it's all in the training. If you train the dog to be calm inside it'll be much easier on you. Malinois are supposed to be super high energy, hard to control blah blah blah but I've seen plenty that are calm inside the house and get energetic outside while not acting out. I don't get why people think you can't control a husky border collie, if you can't train a dog than maybe don't get one? My border collie husky has literally never eaten any shoes, sock, clothes, furniture, remotes, garbage or anything even including his puppyhood. He does what he's told, he's easy to train, he's athletic as all get out, he's a problem solver. I would recommend the mix to anyone who knows how to train a dog and doesn't want an inside dog to sit and watch TV with all day, although mine stays in the truck for 6 or 8 hours a day while I'm at work so he's alright with lazy time as long as he gets to run every 3 days or so. More than 3 days pent up and he doesn't destroy anything, he just wants to play in the house more.
@@mikewhitman745 I think you misread my comment? He keeps his dogs exercised so they don't have tons of excess energy that they have to find an outlet for.
@@GilraenTook no, I got that. Did you misread my comment? I'm saying if you train the dog to be calm inside it'll be calm inside, my border collie husky is calm inside and wants to play fetch and expel energy outside. He's never acted up inside destroying anything because it's been storming for a few days and he hasn't been out as much as normal. A properly trained malinois will be calm inside and not all neurotic eating furniture. The 5 or so wolf dogs I've known through friends have all been calm and didn't need 8 miles of walking a day to keep them from eating the house. Maybe basing your thoughts about these dogs off of what sounds like either a special case or a poorly trained dog isn't the wisest thing?
I can't get over how beautiful this dog is. The blue eyes, the border collie coat, the husky wolf-esque face. I'm astonished it's the first time I hear of this mix because it's just gorgeous
This is the first time you've heard of this mix because this sort of dog would need to run a daily ultramarathon while being given mental maths puzzles. :P
Appealing looks in a dog are very individual. What you consider beautiful is not what someone else would consider beautiful so mixing breeds intentionally can go very wrong. The man who first crossed a poodle and a Labrador regretted it later. This is not a mix thst I would never ever consider. I do not find huskies attractive at all! Nor any other Spitz breed as I said beauty in animals is very individual.

Finally caught Chance in action, downed three muffins, wrapper and all, like an anaconda but without moving the plate or making a noise.
Ohhhhhhhhh no... The height and appetite of a Great Dane, with the problem solving ability and sheer awareness of a Collie? Did you need to buy an armored bread box?

When his time came.. he laid down in his bed and quietly passed away in his sleep. He was a great dog! 😊🐶❤
I have that same mix but he is the polar opposite, loves swimming but absolutely hates the bathtub for whatever reason. He'll hide under his pillow at the mention of giving him a bath. He is quite well behaved during the bath despite that though.

We had Border Collies growing up and that is such a Border Collie thing to do. It's the "you need to pay attention to me, remember I could be biting you to force you to do this" behaviour from their herding instincts, they just put their teeth on you and don't chomp down unless they are reacting defensively to something which is usually easy to train them not to do if they are domestic dogs and not working dogs since you don't want them to snap at a child that goes for the tail or face like they would a farm animal or predator being aggressive towards them or the herd.
My Border Collie was a nibbler. She didn't like you to play with her toes, so if jerking her foot away from you didn't work, she slobbered and puppy nibbled the sides of your fingers. She played rough, but she never hurt me once. She was a very good dog.
My chihuahua mix does this too. He hates people touching his paws so he will very slowly bring his mouth to your hand if you don't stop. As he gets closer he goes slower and slower because he doesn't actually want to bite. He only ever does it if I'm trimming his nails, and i feel a little bad for how adorable i find it
That is just a general behavior for most herding/livestock guardian dogs. Both my Pyrenees mix Eeyore, my German Shepherd Raymund, and my Brittany/blue heeler mix Kaleo would be a bit mouthy but rarely if ever nipped hard enough to hurt.
I was literally counting down the seconds until he started to sing. Imagine my amazement and confusion, when he didn't. But still all drama queen, the face he made at first when hit with the blow-dryer was priceless. Very, very cute and, I'm certain, a nightmare for anyone looking for a quiet companion^^
i have this exact mix! Really challenging to own but a lot of fun, shes 8 years old now and has mellowed out. Honestly if someone did a really good and vetted sports cross of this or a husky heeler i get another. teaching them how to be calm and have rest days helps them out alot.
@@neonice You're right but if all purebred weren't 'pure bred' at the beginning then eventually all would be mutts and then we wouldn't know their true and or potential temperaments. For example, A Pomeranian Husky PitBull Terrier Wienerdog Chihuahua would be a complete nutcase .... I wonder what it would look like though 🤔 😉🤣 Also, though Merle breeds aren't always healthier than purebred's
@@neonice Many of those disorders that are often attributed to a specific breed are just as likely to be found in mixed-breed dogs, including common health problems such as lymphoma, mast cell tumor, specific cardiac issues, hip dysplasia, and lens luxation to name a few
That's not actually true. Mixed breed dogs are just not tested for all the things purebreds are. Purebreds seem more sick because we know about their problems. But not knowing does not make mixed breeds healthier. If you do same tests to a mixed breed as to a purebred, it's very likely the puppy has similar broblems as both the parents breeds would. Like if you mix a boston terrier with a bernese mountain dog, do you think the puppies would be completely healthy without inheriting any problems? Also true breeders, who breed with the dogs health in priority, need all the testings to make sure the litter's parents create the most healthy puppies. With people who breed mixed breeds just for fun, they could very easily breed two dogs with the same problem and make the puppies have it even worse. Now if there was a breeder who tested their dogs and did all the things properly but with mixed breed dogs, to create healthy puppies? That would be great. Unfortunately that is rarely a thing. A few years back when I was looking for a dog (ended up with a mixed breed rescue) I found a website of a breeder who bred short-haired collies with two other breeds, to make puppies that were healthier than all three of those breeds and with the temperaments of them combined. I thought that was really cool, she talked a lot about all the genetic stuff and whatnot so she really seemed like she had fully researched to know what she was doing. She might have also bred purebred dogs in the past so a certified breeder. It bothers me that I don't remember her kennel name. Also my bad for not knowing the proper terms for things, English is not my first language.
Also, he took the grooming like a champ. Some mouthing that he needed to be muzzled for mainly out of precaution, but honestly? They did an amazing job with him, given he is mixed with husky. He wasn't a high-strung mess either.
Mine would probably do the same thing. I named mine Kodama (after Japanese forest spirits. Cause he has that pattern on his body) Pancake sounds adorable!
The owners did a really good job socializing and training that dog. He seems very tuned into people and calm enough to suggest that he gets enough exercise and discipline. The farmers we buy meat from have an Australian shepherd mix with a similar personality.
My husky/ staffie mix only verbally expresses his emotions when he REALLY wants something (like to go outside), is overly excited (when we get home), very upset (being crated or when he was high coming home from being neutered) or is very engrossed with a toy that squeaks. The last two are the only scenarios I've ever heard the awooooos, not from a lack of trying

Yes my husky/border collie cross did the same thing, she would lick to say “please stop” I trained her to lie on her side for nail trims and gave her treats afterwards. As a puppy though she didn’t try to fight me one ounce.
When I was a pre-teen, I had a pure breed border collie. He was the best dog ever. So smart, learned fast, energetic but laid back too. I had so much fun with him. With husky in him, I expected a song but the tap dance made me fall in love with him. If I was still a teenager, I'd get another border collie in a heart beat.
My family recently adopted a border collie puppy cuz my stepdad wanted help with our sheep since I was in college and my siblings moved out. She's only 5 months, but she is one smart dog. She'll harass you with her frisbees, but she will also tolerate everything and already knows most basic commands. Meanwhile my German shepherd hound mix just whines at you until she gets pizza or her walk in and only listens when she benefits.

😢Our borador grieved the death of her little chi mix so we got her a toy that looked like her friend & called it by the name of our lost dog. She slobbers it but doesn’t chew it like all her other toys. Her santa riding a dinosaur is barely hanging on with limbs missing, other toys have many holes, all their squeakers bitten out & most toys must be tossed within a month. She knows this one represents her missing friend, amazing how a dog can grasp the concept.
I'm floored that this dog handled his grooming as well as he did having Husky in him. Some play bites and tap dancing but no screeching or barking at all :0
People see what they want to see in dog "breeds" The reality is behaviours are not correlated with "breeds". Most breeds are less than 200 yo, started by the Victorians. If you ever actually go to Alaska and look at a sled team, they look nothing like what people envision as a "huskie". Behaviors are by family, not "breed". The dog has been around for 20,000 years. Their behaviors aren't based on appearance anymore than humans are. There's plenty of genuine research on this.

I have this mix mine in only 25% husky but he can be very stubborn on walks want to be sosical and wants to meet everyone dog or person though sometimes a little suspicious he still wants to sniff them before moving on. very kind and obedient when we are alone and despite the husky he almost never barks and I have never seen him howl or *talk* he just become 1 year last month. He is very calm inside(mostly) though he can quickly get very excited and playful if we do some activity/play where he can’t stand still but surprisingly manages very well when we have to take a quiet boring day and don’t get restless easily
You think that’s bad. I read about someone who INTENTIONALLY sought out a border collie/Australian shepherd mix. Like, you’d need to be an ultramarathoner for that. And you’d never be able to sleep while raising that puppy.
I'd love to have one of these. We have a Malamute Husky and boy do I see the personality traits of the Husky in this mix breed. We have had a border collie too. Both adorable dog breeds, but you really need to rise to the occasion to meet their activity needs....it's worth the effort, their presence in your life is a tremendous blessing.

Husky/border mix! My heart swooned for sure. When he was getting tired of the dryer and kinda “slapping” at you, that’s definitely behavior I recognize in my border collie. That and having to have their face in everything that you’re doing. Also getting mouthy when you’re trying to do something with their paws. Great vid 😁

Yep. Border collies are smart in an obedient way. Huskies are smart in a mischievous and snarky way. If you're not mindful about it, a husky will end up training you!

She mostly seemed curious.
That's what I thought too. And then he proceeded to lick for forgiveness.
when you dont listen to the "pls stop🥺Uwu forgiveness licks", they eventually do bite. tht is why she put the muzzle on...
@@invertedangel I completely understand why she put the muzzle on him. I’d do the same in that situation.
The way he instantly goes into that cute "I'm sawwy~" mode after getting scolded for almost biting her hand has me dead😂
The dog can talk but only like
a "delinquent" from "the wrong side of the tracks"? (^?^)
I love how herding dogs always seem to “apologize” after mouthing.
My Aussie will always lick me after mouthing at my hand and give me an apologetic look
I had just put a comment about this exactly... But my dog is a Bugg (Boston Terrier/Pug mix). Go figure lol

I had a Border Collie/Husky mix! She was part of an “oopsie” litter at a local rescue and her name is Esmeralda 💚 I got so lucky with her- she was stubborn, yes, but once she gets into training mode she is unstoppable. Unfortunately my living situation changed, so she lives with my big brother now with a huge yard and a young kiddo to run around with. I check in on her all the time and I miss my girl so much!

It's wonderful she's still in the family!
@Claire:
Glad you were responsible as to her wellbeing. A selfish or immature owner would have dragged her out of her best environment. Very good on you 👍
it was so cute that Kai super slowly went to bite your hand while you were clipping his nails as a message to you, then when you went, "Uh uh!" he just transitioned into a lick like nothing happened. "See, I wasn't thinking about biting you, just giving small kiss to you. nothing to see here" 🤣
Did it at 2:07 too 🤣
I really appreciate his communication skills . He was like “I’m into you, but I’m not into this foot clipping biz.”
he was like.. "You freaking bi... beautiful woman!"
Exactly like my puppy ❤
Sneaky
I love how he slowly bites, like he’s trying not to hurt you.
He is trying not to hurt.
Little "please stop I don't like that, but I don't want to bite you, but I also don't know how to show that I want you to cut that out" nips
Such a gentle boy
He's just telling Mom the truth.
my collie does the same. "i cant talk, but i know how to tell dad to stop"
my GSD does something similar. when she's extremely frustrated with me she gently places her teeth on my wrist and stares at me, as if she's saying "I'm mad and want to bite you but I can't hurt my dad"
Yes all I could think of is this could be as popular as the Labradoodle (not for the same reasons!)
It's truly a superb cross mix, I hadn't thought of it before but now I want to know the pro's and con's and if it would truly be a viable/ethical pet.
@@Quint1975 Control of a herding dog but with the drive of an extreme working dog. We added Anatolian and german shepherd to our mix and now I have 140lb versions of that dog. They are noisy, they are seriously active and they nip to get your attention. God bless anything that goes into their pasture.
i love how gently he bit, like an indication that he’d like you to stop what you’re doing rather than trying to hurt you at all
That's because that wasn't "biting" at all. Mouthing in dogs is like you using your hands to make a point. If a dog bites you know it!
Smol nibbles of disapproval
the part where he suddenly likes the vacuum again because she was going down under kinda felt dirty lol
We rescued a Great Dane and Border Collie mix named Chance. He had the chill temperament of a Dane but was smart and agile as the Border Collie. My dog Teddy - considered a 'mutt'- was a mix of shepherd, husky & collie. He was a great dog! So smart and obedient. He had long hair. A beautiful coat. I always bathed him at home. He loved it! I'd ask him.. "ready for your bath?".. and he would excitedly jump into the tub. He really enjoyed being brushed. He lived to age 19.
So sorry for your loss. He sounded like a wonderful doggie.

The way he slowly advances when he’s about to bite with his mouth open is adorable. I know he shouldn’t be biting but he’s so not sneaky
He's likely doing it that way on purpose, as a warning that he doesn't like the clipping rather than an attempt to hurt.
That's collies, they will push away with nose then hit with paw, then this (lay teeth on you), then nip you, if this wasn't enough warning then teeth are going straight down to bone.

Border Collies pure or mixed are beyond amazing. The are not an average dog. My border collie/lab mix crossed the rainbow bridge 3 years ago and hardly a dog goes by not missing her.

@@CartoonHero1986 My aussie does this too, but usually in a playful way or if she doesn't want her paws touched lol

Mixed dogs are healthier than purebreds anyways. I don't get why everyone wants a purebred dog.
@@neonice
You're right but if all purebred weren't 'pure bred' at the beginning then eventually all would be mutts and then we wouldn't know their true and or potential temperaments.
For example, A Pomeranian Husky PitBull Terrier Wienerdog Chihuahua would be a complete nutcase .... I wonder what it would look like though 🤔 😉🤣
Also, though Merle breeds aren't always healthier than purebred's
@@neonice Depends on the breeder. Some of them out there are awful. But for the most part you're right
@@neonice Many of those disorders that are often attributed to a specific breed are just as likely to be found in mixed-breed dogs, including common health problems such as lymphoma, mast cell tumor, specific cardiac issues, hip dysplasia, and lens luxation to name a few

The last two are the only scenarios I've ever heard the awooooos, not from a lack of trying

I love how when he got a little mouthy and u told him no he licked your hand as if to say oops I’m sorry I didn’t do that 😂
Yes my husky/border collie cross did the same thing, she would lick to say “please stop” I trained her to lie on her side for nail trims and gave her treats afterwards. As a puppy though she didn’t try to fight me one ounce.
When I was a pre-teen, I had a pure breed border collie. He was the best dog ever. So smart, learned fast, energetic but laid back too. I had so much fun with him.
Gorgeous dog. It was fun watching you groom him as he's such a character -- glad you're so experienced, though, as his behavior could've ended up with a less experienced groomer being injured.

I'm floored that this dog handled his grooming as well as he did having Husky in him. Some play bites and tap dancing but no screeching or barking at all :0
What a gorgeous combination! It's cute that even when he didn't want you messing with his paws, he didn't lead with biting.
@Hello there, how are you doing this blessed day?
Despite the combination, Kai is a surprisingly mellow dog.
Wait ten seconds the situation changes, we speak from experience!
I’m so glad you brought back the aftergroom backyard zoomies! I’ve been missing them and was afraid that you had just replaced them with the ‘pet of the day’s. I love having both :-)

As a husky owner I immediately knew he was husky mix from looking at the picture
Edit: his zoomies are so cute, my husky does that exact crazy face when she zoomies, lol
Great vid 😁
He is like moon night. One character comes out and the other go inside.
That would be a great name. Khonshu wants to know his location
Moon knight*
The way he runs at you just fills me with happiness, he looks so excited
Kai is stunning! I see why Vanessa was so enamoured by the patch over his eye, only added to his good looks! And the snek at the end there, so cute with her bandanna
Mixing the breads was not a good idea, it was the best idea! Look at this cutie!
