Thank you!!!!! I have the identical Renegade right down to the colour. I am solo road tripping to Clearwater this summer. You’ve made my life much easier!
To answer all the great inquiries about our build, we just added a free PDF with the build measurements: www.buymeacoffee.com/anywheregoes/e/210660 Not a pro builder/spec maker by any means but tried my best! If you have any questions, feel free to reach out! Would also love to see the campers you build, share a pic with us on our instagram, we wanna see! Anyway, here's to a happy build and even better adventures! 🚘🗺
We are buying a Jeep Renegade for our Greek adventures based out of Skiathos and your video/build notes are just what we need -Thanks so much for sharing 😊🌈🙏🏼👍 Kevin and Val
Would be really cool if Jeep released a product that could replace the back seat headrest to just extend the rear seat while down to convert into a bed
Very nice! It's a inspire thing to see. I had some ideas to build my renegade camper by wathing your video. I'm from Brazil and I hope soon to make a road trip from here to Alaska..
Thank you for a well done video. I'm about to do the same thing to my Renegade except going to take out the entire backseat right off the bat. But your video proved to me that it can be done ✔👌
Youve gotta remove those middle seats/ mount the spare on the back! Ive got a 15 renegade, ive got the spare tire cover in my garage because theres SOO much additional room with the cover taken off, I can only speculate the extra space if I were to mount it on the back instead. Also the middle seats are HUGE/easy to remove if you have somewhere to store them!
We removed the back seats in our version 2 we used all of last summer. We fit a kitchen and pantry in it, so you're absolutely right, tonnes of space! We'll be making another video with the newer set up this year (:
Thank you for making this video. Very creative and neat modular design you all came up with and have helped stoke my ideas. We’re in the process of making our Renegade a livable space for my wife (and me) as well. We recently added a pop up roof top tent to the renegade & just tried it out on a 7 day shake down trip. It works great except one night at a rest stop it was storming and we only needed a few hours rest. We had so many bags & what!attempted to sleep sitting up (it didn’t work so I ended up driving out of the rain for an hour and popping up the RTT, & we slept great). Anyhow I’ve been thinking of a modular setup fir some storage bins & making room for at least one person to sleep laying in a scenario were we might need to stealth camp in the Renegade. I really.like the ideas for being able to open windows & still have privacy too as well. How did the Reflectix work out for the hatch window? I made Velcro ones for my truck topper recently. I know this got a bit long winded but again thank you for the video!
Reflectix has been a game changer! I (Angel) have always been weary of someone coming and flashing lights into the Jeep in the middle of the night, so it's been amazing for privacy. Because I made a template for the hatch window, and really all windows, we don't need to add anything extra for installation. Which is great because I didn't wanna mess up the interior with tape or adhesives. It maybe takes an extra 10 seconds to really pinch it in the window corners, but after you do it doesn't go anywhere! We've been considering a pop-up tent for a while for longer road trips, but we love our cargo roofbox and it's pretty pricey, how are you liking yours?
@@AnywhereGoes Thank you for the response and that’s good to hear. I have some left over Reflectix that I might as well put toward the Renegade build because I get your weariness. That’s why I made it “light tight” in the truck cap. The thought of someone watching me sleep…waking up to a pair of eyes would be creepy for sure, lol. We really are enjoying the pop-up tent. My wife wants to live in it full time and travel around birding :) One of the big pros for us is that we can keep all of our bedding, pillows, and our clothes, along with a few other items in there when we close it. Kind of like a luggage carrier (which as a side note the manufacturer says you can use it as by just popping up the back and keeping the front closed, but I don’t think so). We can also use the restroom up there so we don’t have to climb out in the middle of the night. To my surprise I found our pop-up for less than the price of the Smittybilt RTT which was the one I had wanted to buy for a while. I’m happy we didn’t go with that now, because it’s such a small foot print and so easy to just pop up vs the Smittybilt. Thinking of going with a Madness Automotive ladder to mount to the side and use that instead of the telescoping ladder. We went with white and grey…Would love to send you some pics of it we took on the Rene.
how are you liking the renegade camper several years later? would be cool to see an update. I'm interested in getting a renegade but having difficulty finding reviews
It was a great car and worked well until we had to sell it. If I could do it again I'd maybe invest a bit more for the rougher roads but it handled basically everything I threw at it.
Thanks for the great info! How tall are you and Tom? I'm 6.1 and the lady is 5.4 and we're looking at a 2002 Liberty (very similar visually). I'm just curious if I would be able to sleep in it without too much discomfort
Haha we're just one off, Tom is 6' and I'm 5'5". If you use a fluffy pillow that stays put because of the tilt of the front seats pushed forward, you can scoot up a few more inches for sure. That's what we do 😊
Hi :) Great sleeping pad good job. I own the Jeep Renegade and planning to go camping this summer. If it is not too much to ask for precise measurements of the top desk and supporting timbers. Would precipitate your data. By the way fantastic videos wonderful landscapes.
We use either bins or bags. A couple of shallow bins under the main trunk area for kitchen and food stuff. And we put our backpacks and soft-side cooler behind the front seats. We then shove some odd shaped things under the middle of the platform. Oh, and we use a roof cargo box. It's not great, but works. We are planning to build better storage for sure.
It looks like they don't sell the 4 fold anymore in a twin size, which is fine since don't use the fold as a pillow anymore and bring regular pillows instead. If we were to get a mattress now, we'd get this one: tinyurl.com/trifold-mattress2021
I would personally be claustrophobic in a Renegade & I’m not a huge guy … 6’2” & 220 - small by Slavic standards. This where the higher roof of the Wrangler helps.
Yeah, it can get kinda tight in the Renegade, but we're working with what we have. There's enough space to sleep on our side and watch movies before bed, but aside from that, it's functional and we don't really hang out in there.
I love your build. I also have a Jeep renegade but have a no build camper. Would love if you would take a look at my Jeep setup and share some feedback. Thanks!
I started building this with thinner plywood (1/2") and 2x4"s. Those shown look like 2x6 instead of 2x8s but I could be wrong. I wanted the (what looks like 3/4") plywood (in the video) but that piece is $75 right now near me. I am just installing additional supports in the middle of all three sections. Hinges and all I should have about $100 in it. I will share some pics when done if anyone wants to see them. Thanks for the video!
You're so kind to publish for free the plan for the jeep Renegade's bed platform., thank you so much !
Of course! Happy to help 😃
I really liked the simplicity of the design at first. I would definitely go with that design. Thank you for sharing
That is just fantastic job congratulations.and you are nice couple, enjoy. Thank
Thank you!
Thank you for the amazinly helpful video. In my opinion that the most efficient jeep build I have seen on youtube.
Easy and functional!! we go with that design, thanks for sharing!!
Nice!
Hmmm, good ideas here. Might be a project for our Renegade. Good job. Thanks!
Thank you really much. U really saved my day!!! Lots of love and my best wishes. Keep going!
You're welcome!

Greek adventures sound incredible! Hope you have a dreamy trip, glad we could help.
Great design and getting a 6' bed in a Renegade no less! Well done!
Thank you. We didn't get it as a vehicle for adventures but we're making it work great!
I have the same Jeep so this was great!
Great to hear!
Nice, plenty of space. Love it 😍
Glad you like it!
This is awesome! Thanks for sharing.
This build is dope af 🔥🔥
Thanks! Quick and easy with lots of space.

Thanks for this video! I drive a jeep renegade and am looking to do this when I travel to visit family throughout the country.

guys that is cool
I need those measurements! I will be traveling around Wyoming in my Renegade and my last trip was very uncomfortable!
Measurements are in the description

Definitely! Going to be making a PDF doc for you and everyone else! Will msg again in a day or two (:
Hey, thanks for your patience, we've updated the description to include a PDF of the build 😊 Check it out and let me know if you have any questions!
Hi there I was wondering if you have a link for those window socks for keeping the bugs out. Thank you for the awesome video!
Sure! We got 2 of these: amzn.to/38NWYZK
@@AnywhereGoes Thank you so much again for your help and the awesome videos!
@jeep this is cool 😎
Easy way to get out there and have room for all your stuff
Wow, I really like how you designed it! I am looking to do the same to my Renegade. Any chance you the measurements to the platform? Thanks!
Definitely! Going to be making a PDF doc for you and everyone else! Will msg again in a day or two (:
Hey, thanks for your patience, we've updated the description to include a PDF of the build 😊 Check it out!
Did you end up pulling the seats out and rebuilding.
We did! There's a video of our V2 setup too
Great vid!!! How tall are you guys? I Only ask as I’m 6 foot and wonder if I’d fit comfortably :) thanks!
I'm 6' tall. It's a bit snug but for just sleeping, it works. Only down side is you can't sit up.
How do your store your camping gear???
We use either bins or bags. A couple of shallow bins under the main trunk area for kitchen and food stuff. And we put our backpacks and soft-side cooler behind the front seats. We then shove some odd shaped things under the middle of the platform. Oh, and we use a roof cargo box. It's not great, but works. We are planning to build better storage for sure.
I really like the design that you came up with for the Jeep Renegade. Do you have any information about the design and measurements?
Yes! Updated the description to include a PDF of measurements!
Do you have a link to the mattress you purchased?
It looks like they don't sell the 4 fold anymore in a twin size, which is fine since don't use the fold as a pillow anymore and bring regular pillows instead.
If we were to get a mattress now, we'd get this one: tinyurl.com/trifold-mattress2021
@@AnywhereGoes Thanks! I will be building a platform for my Renegade in a week or two.
No problem. That's exciting!
@@AnywhereGoes So, 39” will fit?
@@365vacay It'd be a squeeze only in the last few inches at the back, but fine everywhere else.
Where can I find the dimensions for the build? It is mentioned up above that there is a PDF.
Just gotta click the link
What did you do about the back seats still being at an incline?
The platform legs over the back seats are angled, not straight. Haven't had an issues with it.
@@AnywhereGoes awesome!! Thank you. ❤

Where do you store the matress when you’re not using it?
Usually in a closet at home or tucked away in a corner of our living room hah
Why do you need a bed ? just put a thick comfy mattress and you will have more headspace and won't feel claustrophobic.
Having the platform gives room for all the gear. Otherwise, I totally agree.
Nice Hair
Thank you!
How hard is it for Tom to get in? I am only 6' but older lol.
It's definitely a bit awkward but not terrible by any means. Getting out without squishing Angel is the real challenge haha
I love your build. I also have a Jeep renegade but have a no build camper. Would love if you would take a look at my Jeep setup and share some feedback. Thanks!
We're huge nerds with that kinda stuff, let's chat on instagram! @anywhere__goes
i really would prefer a van
Us too honestly, but sometimes you gotta work with what you already have.
Cabina su portellone posteriore più box da tetto auto okay
We have the box on top but we don't have a hitch yet
Just buy a roof tent haha
Unfortunately, our Jeep Renegade has a roof load capacity of 155lbs. So if that's an option for your vehicle, then I guess you could!
I started building this with thinner plywood (1/2") and 2x4"s. Those shown look like 2x6 instead of 2x8s but I could be wrong. Yeah wood prices are crazy right now
You can't sit up in there
Wasn't designed for that
Very hard. Goodbye ribs. 😣
The mattress actually makes it super comfy
Fake.
