hakaihan, an excellent video, thank you. I’ve never seen a anybody work so calmly and confidently and treat a watch with such care and it’s a lesson to us all I think. I can’t wait to start the battery replacement on my GB-6900BU I’m just a bit worried about releasing my battery cover. You seem to go in “sideways” to pry back one of the two prongs and it should pop open, right? Great idea about twisting the bracelet to assist access to the back of the watch, I’ve never seen that tip before. Another question do you really need to put that adhesive-backed round seal back over the battery? What is it’s purpose? Thanks again.
It is an insulator, to prevent the battery from contacting the metal plate/points. Here you have a rubber cover, which might prevent such contact, but better put on the adhesive seal, as it also keeps the battery lock secure.
@@Tube-bank You are welcome. However a small connecter needs to contact the buzzer which is attached to the back covers plate, and a small cutout for that is provided. If this contact is not made, the buzzer won't beep.
What about the spring that makes the button tone "beep" for the alarms or hour mark? Those usually pop up in the air when you take the back case off the watch. I bought and re-sold a G-shock on eBay and had to change the battery. It popped out. The customer sent it back and I got a spring from the spring bar that keeps a regular watch's strap or bracelet on. I made sure to pick a spring bar that's spring inside of it was very close to the width of the original spring that came with the G-shock. I cut it with needle nose pliers with the sharp cutting tool part near the handle. Replaced the spring. Put the back case back on and the button tone "beep" for the alarms, hourly chime, and button operation "beep" worked properly again and mailed it back to the customer. Are there not these springs on the dw5600? They will pop out of the movement when the back case is removed and fly somewhere and get lost if you're not careful. This customer is how I found out how the button tone sound of a G-shock works. I watched a video on UA-cam on how to replace a lost spring and that's how I fixed the watch. I'm more careful now not to lose the original but because I was a watch dealer who bought, sometimes fixed and resold watches I had to do this a few times and I have lots of extra spring bars from sprucing up watches with new straps and bracelets. I'll also polish the watch but changing the spring in a G-shock, polishing the case, changing batteries and replacing straps and bracelets is all I know how to do. I made decent money at it until COVID-19 left half the country at home wondering how to make money before figuring out what I was doing and it became impossible to make enough money to keep doing it. It's definitely a "it takes money to make money" business.

add blue locktight paste on the 4x screws threads before installed them back , it will help a LOTS
Tel1roc I usually put oil in the inside where the rubber seal hoes in since you tightened the screw it will be water tight once again
Great video. However, if your watch is otherwise in great condition, I would order the o-ring before changing. Twice, despite treating carefully, the old one was too stretched to fit well into groove.
hakaihan, an excellent video, thank you.
I’ve never seen a anybody work so calmly and confidently and treat a watch with such care and it’s a lesson to us all I think.
I can’t wait to start the battery replacement on my GB-6900BU
I’m just a bit worried about releasing my battery cover.
Here you have a rubber cover, which might prevent such contact, but better put on the adhesive seal, as it also keeps the battery lock secure.
hakaihan, thanks very much for that explanation. Now I know and won’t forget. Thanks. Peter
hakaihan, I meant to ask you before. What make and model number are those curved tweezers you were using? I would like to get a pair. Thanks, Peter
@@Crazytesseract CT I'm not sure if I acknowledged your helpful explanation. Appreciated thanks. Peter
It's definitely a "it takes money to make money" business.
excellent video, but I have a question: why is important to reset the watch? Thank you!
Don't lose the spring guys I got lucky and found mine. Fell off wen struggleing with the battery clip I got lucky and found it lost in the towel I was working on.
Second time I replaced battery. Last time was 4 yrs ago
Yea sending my 2 G Shocks to Casio. I know how to change a battery. Not gonna risk losing da water resistant. That right there is worth paying da money for.
CONGRATULATIONS! GOOD WORK!!!
Excellent video! Thank you!
Hakai, what mm is the screwdriver? 1.2mm/1.4mm/1.6mm? And thank you for your video.
I didn't know you needed a degree in quantum physics to change a battery.
For G shocks yes you do. They’re the most fragile when the back is taken out. I ruined mine for not being gentle enough. So much I get anxiety trying to change my other g shocks batteries. You absolutely need those tweezers too btw
