i think bodybuilding.com is far more guilty than youtube when it comes to having a calorie deficit and still build muscle, almost every second person promoting a workout plan there is guilty of such BS. People forget to ask "what are you selling". but i have seen several people attempting to explain how you can build muscle in a fasted state, which is very different from preserving muscle in a fasted state

ScottHermanFitness Hey Scott, I feel a bit of a pain near the left scapula, does this mean a possible injury or is it a pull? It happens only when I do pushing movements, I wouldn't mind some education on different injures that one might succumb to during gym, and can the serratus tear?
      Sorry if it's too much😅
      Just saiyin

    Mistakes:
1.Under Eating(most important, caloric surplus, 1g of protein per pound of lbm, get enough carbs)
2.Doing too many exercises(2-3 good exercises per body part is enough)
    3.Stop Program Hopping
    4.Lack of mind muscle connection
    5.Poor Training frequency(too often/too little)

There are several ideas to try
Test out one of the natural remedies for plantar foot. Something as simple as ginger root, which can be found at your drug store, is a great anti-inflammatory. Ginger root is in the class of plants known as Cox inhibitors. This means they help inflammation naturally.
Another good remedy for pain is Bromelain. Bromelain is an enzyme got from pineapples. just drink the raw juice or eat raw pineapple, you can gt advantage from the properties of Bromelain. Enzymes are one of the top remedies for pain because they are all natural and are what your body uses to cure inflammation
(I learned these and more ideas on fergs foot formula website )

I think this video, so far, has been the most beneficial to me. In one of your other videos, I said that I hit a plateau and have been stuck for years. I've been stuck at around 30lbs. with arms since my 20s and I'm in my 30s now. Based on this video, I think it has to do with my eating habits. Money has always been an issue for me and living conditions so I'm limited to what I can buy and have been eating canned food over frozen meat. I'm still looking for a way until I get into my own living space and can utilize my own fridge. Another issue that may be stopping my gains is the lack of mind and muscle connection. When I think back since the first time I picked up weights with my dad is I would just go through the motions. That mind set that as long as I get the weight up, I'm good. I also didn't focus on how many reps and sets were the right amount until late last year. I'm going to work on these 3 things and see if any changes occur within the next 3 months. I can be patient as long as I know that I'm doing things correctly. Thanks for your time.

brian londono you need to balance intensity and volume. If your doing a push pull legs program 2 times a week the first half you could do intensity where u go heavier and do sets of 3-6 reps and the other second half of the week do PPL again but with sets of 10-12 and shorter rest times.

I'm 74 and have been reading the muscle mags for over 50 years. Scott has distilled all the best knowledge down to a quick and easy to understand 12 minutes. He is quite knowledgeable. Listen to him. The drugged up guys who are pro competitors or wrestlers may have to train more but they're also building "false" muscles. When they go off the steroids, their bodyweight drops a lot and their muscles fade away. There are plenty of UA-cam videos of pro wrestlers before and after. Most of you want to build FUNCTIONAL muscles like Special Forces. Not big puffy muscles that limit your mobility and flexibility.

I've seen the video in which he talks about it, what jeff was mainly pointing at was as Scott here also mentioned "dirty bulking", but also people who eat everything in sight (which is what many trainers actually recommend), doing so would put a person far over the amount he actually needs.
it's just different word usage. buff dudes have made some fun of it in their own way as well

Hey ScottHerman, I just found your videos and have watched a few -- and I think you are one of the most professional fitness coaches on the internet (that I know of). I´m glad people like you are around because there is so much trash out there, people who act irresponsible by giving absolutely false instructions. So thanks and keep it up!

Keeping point 3 in mind, what I’ve heard a lot more is that after 3 weeks your body get used to the exercises and that’s when I switch. I don’t change my workout completely, because it feels like that’s where I need to change as it does feel I’m not growing.

I go to the gym every day, I always start a session doing some cardio.
Day 1 I work legs, deadlift, squat, powerclean press, lunges.
Day 2 I work chest, bench press, flies, both flat and incline.
Day 3 same as day 1, including leg extensions and leg curls.
Day 4 I work my back, pull ups, lat pulldown, seated row.
Day 5 same as day 1.
Day 6 I work my shoulders and traps.
    Day 7 I rest.
Some weeks I will include a weighted circuit training session.
For me between them day's let's my different muscles recover.
