  • @Teamshmo
    @Teamshmo 6 років тому +122

    As a skinny fat fuck myself, you nailed this video. The main problem is definitely too little muscle. However, building muscle is extremely hard. Our bodies just can't do the workouts. I could do a bunch of push ups and a some pull ups like it was nothing and build 0 muscle. This was because I was somehow able to do them without even using my muscles it seemed. I went all the way back to the easiest forms of the exercises and made sure to feel the squeeze on everything I do and have made much better gains now. I use to do 40 pushups straight and gain nothing and made more gains doing a few sets of 5 knee pushups with very slow and controlled reps, and feeling the squeeze. I also noticed very weak core, glutes, and scapula retraction ability was killing my gains. If you can't keep your core and glutes tight you basically won't be able to make real gains as your lower back will take all the pressure instead. Also, if you can't contract your shoulder blades together it doesn't matter how many rows etc you do you are not actually building muscle when doing the reps.

    • @flawlessproxx7374
      @flawlessproxx7374 6 років тому +15

      Team Shmo your not gonna build muscle doing 40 push ups. If your not going to a gym then watch some of Scott's home workout videos to push yourself

    • @Teamshmo
      @Teamshmo 6 років тому +8

      Yes, however, I am saying I could do that many and not even feel a true squeeze. Then I would do knee push ups and only 5 reps for a few sets and actually made better gains. The easier exercise with less reps gave me better results because I could actually control it the entire time. The key for skinny fat people is starting at the easiest possible variation of the exercise and making sure to do a very controlled movement, and stop the second they hit form failure. Don't just rep out as many as possible and lose form and think you are building muscle. After a few months of doing that I built up enough strength to do real push ups and will continue until I can do even more insane push ups like hand stand push ups. Just make sure everything is controlled the entire time.

    I developed the muscle I had (hypertrophic training) then bulked for hyperplasia.. that's what it's all about. That's why very light weight people who can squat a fuck ton of weight is impressive

    Thank god I found this! I was in Cambodia for 2 months and lost so much muscle and when I came back to the US. I gain so much weight but only on my stomach area and no where else. I lost confidence in myself and began to hate looking in the mirror but you gave me some hope! Now I need to get back on track with a workout plan and meal plan. Thanks!

    Hey Scotty great video man! Totally related to me and my body type. I used to be lean and no body fat then I got into beer and stopped working out. When you said the 150lbs and 22.5 body fat example, that was literally my body weight. Thanks for clearing up the build before cut idea. Now I know not to try to burn it off right away versus build on to it. 👍

    All i eat is lean, non-fried meat, whole weat bread with some creame cheese, cottage cheese, oats with milk, 100% fruit bars, fruits, veggies, soups, potatoes and a plenty of nuts, i havent had a cheat meal for a year, i train consistantly. I'm 6"0 80kg, and my shoulders and back muscles are pretty impressive, but i have a visible layer of fat, around the belly and chest area. Basically i tried to bulk but i dont know what to do, and what im doing wrong. informations that are worth mentioning: i train only at home with dumbbells, and i've went from 95kgs to 76.5kgs in 6 months, so 19kgs in 6 months is quite a lot.Thanks for any tips

    I’m vegan. I know what to take in, and I know what to stay away from. After 8 months of non-cardiovascular activity, I’m only now returning to the gym. Another downside, on my part, is knowing what exercises to do and how much protein is recommended to take in.

    I skinny fat and start go to gym for about 1 month. At start it was very shame that I can lift with very little weight ( barbell with 5-7 lb )
    Luckily that the gym that i go was nobody at morning lol. So it just me and the mirror.
    I think it will be very hard to train like this when a lot of peoples around.
    To me the hardest part was my ego and caring about peoples around me.
    I learn that to perform a good form first time is reduce your ego that the key :)
