    I had the same thing tuesday, pissed a little rain in the morning but the wind picked up and they got dry enough to go in the afternoon. Haven't done any since. Looks like it may be a salvage operation to get the rest of em the way the forecast looks😆

    Noticed going down the road the fall colors are starting to come in. Yea a "new to me "machine you always have a learning curve but you will figure it out in short order. I am in Georgia and we haven't had rain in several weeks. Good for the harvest going on but sure could use some. Had to stop over seeding pastures cause it got too dry. Chris I have a 66 row crop that needs the short stubby output PTO shaft. Mine is broken off. Do you know where I could get one?

    • @ThatOliverGuyChris
      @ThatOliverGuyChris  11 місяців тому +1

      They used the same shaft in the 66, 77, and 88, as well as the Super 66 through 88, so it shouldn't be too hard to find one. Maibach tractor would almost certainly have one. Wenger's show they have some used ones in stock. The part number is K1200. Do a google search for "K1200 Oliver" and you should find it. Same for Maibach Tractor.

    If you go into the purple hand and go into the vmm data you can see basically every sensor input and controller output on the machine. The dynaflex heads are kinda dunny to get set right you have to play with the fore and aft head pitch and ground pressure to get them to feed. Its so odd to see a dyna flex in 25ft. The ones i deal with are all 35 and 40.

      That field meets an existing cemetery, so we were able to donate the land to the church to add they just added it on to what they had. Still farm some of the land we donated, otherwise it would probably just go to weeds or cause the church to spend more on grounds keeping. Our family already had plots in the man part of the cemetery so it all fit together nicely.

Friday was warm and sunny things dried well enough that we got the wheat test plot planted, video to come of that. The beans dried a lot, but not quite enough. What a beautiful setup. What did you have before this one?
    How I have always said the real on a flex head as you put a 4 x 4 Cube under a spot in the cutter bar usually the middle. And then you bring your real down to just above that. That is usually a very good starting point where in tougher conditions you can bring that real down and you can either shove it out which would get it even lower to help bring material onto your Draper
    There should be some settings on the head or the feeder house if you have the option of the tilt on the face plate. But on the head there should be adjustment somewhere to set the angle of the cutter bar for how aggressive the cutter bar is diving into the ground
    That has to be one of the most simple combines on the market. I hope it treat you very well. I only had a couple of guys that I knew that had them and they absolutely love them
    On a nice machine like that have your local dealer come out and do an inspection with you this winter. And 100 percent do engine oil and coolant and then your hydro system oil scans

    The one thing I didn't like about the only draper I've ever ran (which happened to be a John Deere 630D on an S670 combine) was that it didn't feed good at all if the beans were short (which auger heads don't either really) and if it ever got into a weedy patch (which there were a couple in that field) it didn't like pulling in the green weeds (I guess because they were heavier) so it would start pushing a big wad of crap. That kind of got annoying.

      @@ThatOliverGuyChris There are still many of them, especially in the southern region of the country, which is where I was born. It was the region that produced the most grains in the country in the 1970's and 1980's, especially rice, corn, and soybeans. The CBT was a tractor that stood out for the power of its Detroit and Mercedes 6-cylinder engines, so people used it a lot. Since I didn't live through that era, I don't know much more than that.
      The early models, such as the OLIVER-CBT 950, 1020, and 1000, are very rare, but the 1090 and 1105 models are still quite common, many of them still in operation.

      @@dennisfoltz7880 CBT is a tractor brand that was marketed in Brazil during the 1970s. It stands for "Comércio Brasileiro de Tratores," which translates to "Brazilian Tractor Commerce."
      Initially, CBT started as an import of Oliver tractors, and the subsequent models inherited many features from your tractors. In Brazil, it began with a red color, but the one that really stood out was the yellow version starting with the 1090 model. Its engine and robustness for the time were distinguishing factors, making it popular among all audiences. It continues to have a devoted fan base even today.

      @@dennisfoltz7880 The story as I have heard it: A group from Brazil was looking to start their own tractor company and approached Oliver about striking up a deal. They didn't have much money, so the arrangement they came up with was that Oliver would give the new CBT company all of the tooling and patterns for the Oliver 990, a model Oliver had discontinued at that point. It became the CBT 1090 and was powered with a Mercedes Diesel. I have heard the GM diesel was an option, but the only one I have seen had the Mercedes. As the company came out with more models they styled them very similar to the Oliver tractors of the 1960s. I was told Oliver never received a penny out of the deal. Later on they started looking more like Massey Ferguson tractors, but I have no idea if there was any arrangement between those two companies.

    • @ThatOliverGuyChris
      @ThatOliverGuyChris  8 місяців тому

      I have my soil grid sampled, half of it each year. I have P and K applied to maintain levels, so bean ground does get fertilizer as needed to maintain those levels.
      I don't apply any N to my bean ground, I don't foliar feed, and only do fungicide if it needs it. I averaged about 52 bpa this year overall, my farm running average is right around 60. If it's new to you ground, my opinion is your money would be best spent on getting pH checked and lime applied as needed. Fertilizer gets locked up in alkaline soils, and soybeans get spindly and make lots of vegetation but fewer pods in acidic soil. Plus too acidic soil will cut down on the effectiveness of many weed sprays.

The string stretched from the pull point to the middle of the 2nd bottom should pass directly under the hitch pin. An OLD mechanic told me that. When things were right the string would be like the old man told me. Worked on 3 bottom and 7 bottom plows. That usually made the customer happy because it looked scientific. @@ThatOliverGuyChris

    Some of your fellow UA-camrs are putting poly duck flippers from Mae Wes on the reel fingers.

      I should have taken the camera out of the cab with me to show how far above the cutterbar the reel was. It was way too high. I think a little more tweaking and it will be good.

    Are parts hard to get for the Massey Ferguson combines being they don’t make them .

      They technically do. You can get the Fendt Ideal combine badges as a Massey. They discontinued this platform in 2020, so parts are readily available.

      It hasn't run since before I got on UA-cam, the engine developed a bad knock. I might have some old video of it harvesting wheat. I'll see what I can find.

    Chris, glad you was able to get out in the field and get some things accomplished. Now if the rain would hold off long enough so you can get all your harvesting done that would really be great 👍 Thanks Michael

      Fingers crossed! The corn around here is on the wet side, so it looks like that will be a slow process as well.
