Who Tee Who has been coming out with banger videos back to back!
🙏🙏🙏
@@WHOTEEWHO
Been seeing your vids now on those "short take" scrolls...seeing many familiar producers as well as those I've never seen..I believe THAT can be credited with your recent jump in subscribers, as that "stream" offers various genre's of video presentations.
Those not normally "just gun" oriented find your videos as interesting as we all do! Keep em' up!
Tik tok, Who Tee ran up the clock!
would love to see this test with a Brennke Rottwieler slug...3 in mag
That piece of jacket you found is actually the gas check off the backside of that hard cast Bullet
Be interesting to see the experiment repeated at a hundred yards and see how much difference the loss of velocity makes.
WELL, my hubby just saved about $800. He was planning on buying a 45-70 lever action, for use on brown bear & moose. BUT, based on your test, he's content to keep his Mossberg 12 gauge, and load it with slugs !
I'm kind of feeling the same way at the moment... But I also still want a 45-70 😂
There is very little you can't make not-living with 12 gauge slugs
Bears are not made out of concrete
You can kill bears with just about anything, and in fact most encounters of the surprise attack nature where a firearm is involved are with smaller caliber, more common self defense cartridges like 9mm. And most of them survive those attacks. But armed with that knowledge, would I want to be caught out in Alaska with a 9mm if I could have brought a guide/lever gun? Not if I thought I had a high chance of seeing a Kodiak. Likewise, this concrete test does not equivocate what a 12g slug vs WLNGC 45-70 would do on soft targets, nor does it account for range, where both drop off substantially but the +p 45-70 here has the same muzzle energy at 100m as the 12g has at the muzzle. And the 12g? It's lost half it's energy by 100m. Up close the 12g has some real knockdown power, but at any real hunting distance the 45-70 maintains many many feet of soft target penetration. (Which for 1k lbs moose is a plus)
Just food for thought; If I were out hunting moose, but thought I'd have a chance to see a big bear, I'd want a cartridge that could do both reliably and accurately at all potential ranges.
I was laughing so hard as you were making your predictions, and then especially as you were dramatically holding the .45-70 cartridge close to the camera and slowly rotating it so it would glint in the sun. I love to see you excited about a cartridge. This was a very fun video!
45-70 is a beast. But so is 12 gauge. This is a good comparison.
Not really, a Brenneke would be a good comparison, he already did it and it beat the 45-70 in damage both times, seems like he didn’t want it to win again.
Ehy do u always have to comment like we needed u to tell us rhat
@@brandongerman4167 bro, the crap is your problem? I'm commenting because I like watching and giving feedback to one of my favorite UA-camrs.

@@rogertycholiz2218 Thank you!
Hardcast bullets generally have a high antimony content. Antimony is the cheapest way for bullet companies to harden the lead. The problem with high antimony alloys is it creates a brittle lead so unlike a pure lead bullet, or one that is hardened by using tin, that is malleable and expands or deforms after impact the antimony bullet will chip and break apart.
I’d like to see this same test with a 20ga slug and a 44 mag rifle
yeah or the 500 smith
That would be an interesting test
I know both will smoke a deer down, I’ve taken deer well over 200 yards with my h&r slug hunter 20ga and killed them with my old ruger auto .44mag
Yellow but they are different kinds of slugs he used soft
I’ve never hunted cinder blocks. But, if a bear was charging me, I’d take the 12 gauge without a second thought.
the semiauto 12 gage with some 42 grams slugs is the best choice for the 30 mtrs distance. Hold my bear.
If it was hunting brown bears 45-70. If it was close up self defense 12g.
@@machinesandthings7121 I agree! . accuracy is important .
4570 for distance and 10mm up close only two you need for anything
@@scottjorgenson2892 have you ever been in close proximity to a brown bear? If so, you thought 10mm was plenty...
You ought to mow the grass short around your target area, and maybe put down a tarp to have a better chance of finding the bullets or slugs.
12 ga. slug is probably the more practical round, as more people are likely to have a 12 ga. vs a 4570... And it gives you the option of different rounds.
Simply put down a painter's drop cloth under the experiment.
You mean weeds
I don't think he was worried about practicality.
@@kennethcurtis1856 That should be one of your main factors in selection of weapons and ammo.
This has gotta be the most anticipated cinder block 🧱 test I’ve ever wanted to see
Notice how he didn’t use the brenneke this time, didn’t want to embarrass the ol’ 45-70 again.
Yeah, Black Magic and Magnum Crush, drop the hammer real hard.
Very interesting comparison. I don't know much about the 45-70, but I thought no way it penetrates that much more than a 12 gauge slug. Great vid as always 👍
The 12g is going about 1200fps, the 4570 is usually high 1k to low 2k. Personally, I'd pick the 4570 at 50-100, but the 12 is ok at less.
The results are very similar to the .30-06 vs .300 win mag test. All four shattered the first block but did not touch the second. My guess is that when the first web is cracked that it wedges apart the sides of the block and cracks the other two webs. The three webs really are not independent of each other, because they are connected by the sides. Concrete is very strong in compression, but not in tension stress or shear stress. It would be interesting to turn the blocks 90 dgrees and see if the bullets get through the first block to the second, when there is only two walls they need to penetrate.
This is a very interesting test because both projectiles are heavy with a lot of energy, but have drastically different sectional densities. I bet you would see a significant difference in penetration in the paper plate test, or in ballistic gel. The key points to penetration are velocity, sectional density, and bullet construction. Good video. I like your tests and have subscribed, but to make it a truly great video, include as much data as possible such as bullet weight, velocity, and design.
PS. Yes I did take differential equations and newtonian physics in college and my job title ends with the word engineer.
Let's get some titanium bar stock, a lathe and some cutting tools, and get Allen Grantham into the Lab, Late One Night, and see what sectional densities emerge.
Engineering Matters!
right, they shatter ! Shatter, not penetrating without damage. This is a sign of "man stopping power, because most of the kinetic power is given onto the target .
Good comments & observations. Pps me too.
I have lots of experience with 7.62 AP rounds with tungsten penetrators. In the above test, they would usually punch through the first three cinder blocks, or about 8- 9 layers. But a hardened penetrator AP round sucks for deer hunting. Just makes a small clean hole through the torso without dumping much energy into the tissue. But a turned tungsten penetrator in a 12 ga sabot would be freakin awesome to demonstrate.
For your shoulder…when shooting my 3 1/2” Benelli Nova from a bench with magnum loads…I salvaged a 1/2” piece of the black dense foam from a computer shipping box from work and cut it to fit under my shirt where the stock contacted my shoulder…it worked like a charm for this soft old man 🤩🤩🤩
My kids call my strap on shooting pad a "wimp pad". I don't care, my shoulder thanks me later. 🤓🍻
I knew no way that 45.70 go thru all those blocks and the 12 Guage did as much damage and a lot more cheaper.thx for video wtw.
I'd love to see the Brenneke black magic slug in that test
He did and it beat the 45-70, he’s biased towards the 45-70 so now he’s comparing run of the mill 12 ga vs hot 45 70.
A few of us are saying the same thing. The 45 70 might reach out further but up to 110 yards Brenneke with Magnum Crush and Black Magic wins hands down.
Ddupleks monolite is much better than Brennekes.
That piece of copper was a most likely the gas check, previously crimped to the bottom of the slug. The bullet probably bounced out somewhere.
Yeah the gas check is needed when you start shooting at velocities of around 1400 fps and above. The idea that most cartridges are going to be operating under such high pressures by then, that the powder combustion event can bypass the plain lead. Which means you have molten lead spraying at your barrel, thus leading occurs. Just for those why may not have known. Also, hard cast lead doesn't mean it's hard like steel. It's just harder than pure lead, and can hit harder before it deforms.
The gas check was probably from the 45-70
When I was in the Marine Corps, I started out in Artillery and moved on to other things later in my career, but I always have enjoyed seeing what big projectiles do to targets, like many other folks of our persuasion. Thanks, for the video brother.
One of those out of place Marines at Ft Sill?
Definitely thought that 45-70 would’ve pushed a bit further. Prayers for ya man!!

I think we are all suffering from that.
The 12 ga. is one of the most versatile and deadly calibers out there … I want me one that holds 10 rounds !!!
Buy yourself a Civet-12
Love me some 71cal
Enjoyed watching, the .45-70 pulverized the cinder block. Either round is very effective and I thought the .45-70 would've penetrated a little more based on the higher muzzle velocity 2000 vs. 1500, but that's why these tests you do are fun and informative!
I love the the test, nice work. I would humbly submit that Brenneke black magic slug would be more in line for a comparison .
Thank you for putting these comparisons together. I think this one surprised everyone. Cheers!
I've always been a fan of the 12 ga. foster slugs for deer, groundhogs and inanimate objects.. When I was a kid, every nearby farm had their own dump, with two within a half-mile of our house. We killed more than our share of old TV sets with 12 ga. buckshot and slugs (this was back in the late 50's and early 1960's); or as I like to say, way back in that last century. The only problem was those slugs and buckshot hurt like the dickens when fired from a 12 ga. single shot shotgun with a plastic (Rynite) stock. But we was young, dumb and considered ourselves immortal!! Anyway, I love your video's and have watched quite a few. I was very surprised that the 45-70 stopped so short, although I thought your estimate was a little optimistic.
Being hard cast hitting a hard cast the bullet broke up a soft lead one or jacketed would go further. I own a Springfield and Rolling Block
Your first shot went at a downwards angle, destroyed the first block, chipped the front edge bottom of the 2nd block, then went down through the pan and the table.....look at the video closely....... look at the dust fragmentation in the spaces of the 2nd block....check out 2:45 to 2:46 in the video. Also look for the big hole caused by the slug deflecting through the table.
Hole wasn't from the slug, you didn't listen too good. Slugs can disintegrated, ex.- break into a million tiny pieces. 💥
Whooootheeeewhooooooo
Heyo
When will we see your grandpa shoot some guns with y'all, he sounds like quite the dude.
Also, the 2nd time in 2 days that I see you comment on a vid I've seen, which is quite cool
You know your doing something right when mr edwin comments
Man a fun collab WTW and Edwin Science channel would be.
WE used to use Remington sluggers for FQ... Regular 2 3/4 inch. Very accurate out to 50 yards with open sights. It would be interesting to know what the higher performance 12 gauge slugs would do.. And then there are 3 inchers, not sure if there is a 3 1/2 inch slug but I know I don't want to shoot it.. These are great tests that are interesting to most shooters.
Yep those "high performance" slug are punishing to the shoulder. Had a Savage bolt with a custom stock. Not bad with 325 gr 2 3/4 SST's. Had some 3 in 385 gr Winchester Supremes, dang near blew me off the bench! Gave it to my step son along with all the 3in ammo!!! He is alot bigger than me and younger!! lol
The slug did exactly as I expected. I guessed the 45/70 to shatter 4 and crack number 5. I like the unexpected results they keep us humble. Cool video
A 20 gage will do the same thing
I'm a brick mason and those feather weight blocks you can do that damage with a hammer 🔨. Try using fire rated blocks.
Love to see you do that again, but try a 405 grain at say 1500fps. I reckon that 2000+fps is destroying the hard cast bullet. Contrary to what you think a lower velocity would allow the bullet to keep on trucking into those blocks.
Who-Tee, another great video that is right up my alley.
Awesome test! Hard to beat a 12 ga slug. Probably one of my favorite rounds overall!! Thanks
I agree my friend there are better slugs out there
@shanevickyware4010 not only that they're cheaper and have much less drop than the 45 70...12 gauge for me no brainer
I shot a 300 + pound bear this spring with the 45-70 grizzly bullet, and very impressed. This was my 25th bear. He ran approximately 20 ft. and didn't make it over a fallen log. Next on the list is elk.
I love both 12 gauge and 45-70
WOW 🤩 I was NOT expecting that. I’d like to see you do that test on water jugs from 50 yards WTW. And as always another awesome video bro.
Surprised by both, 12 gauge was stouter than expected and 45/70 not as strong as expected.
I thought water bottle was too far, but I expected the 45/70 to get a whole lot closer, maybe one block short of the water bottle,
These two need further evaluations to compare then with different media, like paper plates and ballistic gelatin .
That truly was a fun video!
I thought the 45-70 would do a bit better, didn't think it could go to the jug, thought the 12 would do better than he thought , which it did, anyway interesting fun video , I learned some info , I never knew I needed LOL
His High Velocity Hard Cast 47-70 would shatter into small pieces A 45-70 made for the Trapdoor Springfield would likely do better
I would have expected the slug to expand extensively at the first wall as it dumped a tremendously large amount of it's energy. As it wasn't on the table it must be on the ground (along with the 45/70). You may wish to consider repeating the test with a high speed camera on the ladder.
I love the videos, please keep them coming...
Awesome comparison video WTW. Very surprising brother. I was not expecting that outcome! Hope y feel better and have a great weekend brother!🤘🏽
Good video Who, the ole 45/70 is always a crowd pleaser. Thanks for all the good things you do. Good shooting and gods speed to The Who family. 👍🇺🇸 hope you are doing better. 🙏🏻
Gonna be a whole lot of splody bits today. 💥💥💥
Absolutely!
About right, no surprise. Either way they both still obliterate.
I love watching cinder blocks getting destroyed.
I bought some freedom seeds today from the ammo shop and on the comments I let them know that Who Tee Who showed me the site, let's go all and do this, and see if they will sponsor Who Tee Who!

Sending prayers and good vibes Adam...🙏🙏🙏🇺🇸
Another great video! Love the slow motion action!
Thanks for watching Bimp5!
Always fun to watch - you keep it fun!
Great comparo! Those cinder blocks are designed to be as solid as concrete but without all the weight. I thought you'd only penetrate and break the first block, and you were ambitious to get it to the water jug! Anyway, still shows the force that both rounds can do. Catch you next vid, hopefully a bit earlier this time.
Get better with ALL THE ZOOMS, Adam!!!
Great video man, I’ve always wanted to see how they compare
Love this comparison, always wondered how the two rounds compared. I still love the 45-70 cause it not only broke the first block, but pulverized that block to dust. Also, I’ve hit some big deer with both rounds (different weapons used during different hunts), and the 45-70 seemed to cause more devastation than a 12 gauge slug. I own a dedicated 12 gauge slug gun, and it’s performance and accuracy doesn’t come close to the 45-70. Not only that, when confronted by a bear or big wolf which weapon would you want to have in your hands? Thanks again, Bill from Minnesota.
A nice Benelli M4 would do the trick with 7 Black Magic Rounds ?
Would love to see this with different slugs. Brenneke and others claim harder lead for better performance.
Oh man this is an awesome video! Hard hitting lead rounds! Cinder blocks tend to obliterate bullets though. Hope you’re feeling better WTW!
Great job, love it. One of your best
Well now that was an interesting video and I thought you were either joking or very over-optimistic about the penetration of the 45-70 hard cast bullet.
Feeding the algorithm, as classic cool as the .45-70 is, I’ve gotta say that a good 12 gauge will probably serve you better through sheer versatility unless you need the .45-70’s range, and then there are rifled slug barrels to cover that application as well. 🤷🏻♂️
Great video, as always. I never miss a wtw video.
Very surprised!
I’ve always been amazed at the velocity of 12ga slugs
Not a lot of energy difference between the 2. The 1oz is 435g while the 45-70 st 405g works out close to the same energy with the higher velocity I think. Great comparison and was fun to watch
The performance in this test of a solid brass or copper .45-70 would be much different. That would be interesting to see compared to a brenneke slug.
Thanks for the clip m8 very interesting I was surprised with the results of the 45 70 keep I'm coming m8
First time I watched your channel. I just subscribed. Great video. Thank you
Thanks for watching William!
Oddly enough, the 45/70 may have done better if the velocity was lower. I think the lower velocity actually helped the softer slug.
I'd love to see 45-70 solid copper, in the same test.
Great video WTW love the cinder block 🧱 videos amazing how fast those blocks eat bullets
Thanks for watching E Whip
This will be long winded but I think worth it. I did the following with my 45-70: I tightly packed a blue rubbermaid tub with neatly folded newspapers stacked upright like your paper plate tests. I then saturated the papers with water over a couple of days. It ended up swollen and god awful heavy and ended up 24 inches deep. I then took a Barnes Original .458 400gr and cut off the exposed lead which created a 380gr projectile with about a .35 metplate. I was interested in the cavitation effects of metplate diameter on penetration. This bullet also has a very thick jacket. The result was a bullet that acted like a monolithic/solid. I shot the tub at 20 yards dead centre. Chronographed velocity at 10 feet was 1800 fps (anything more proves too hot for my Marlin using IMR 4895). I recovered that bullet.... not in the newspapers but in the sand berm immediately behind the tub! Complete penetration of over 24 inches all the way through and out the tub without deviation. The bullet was not deformed and but for the rifling marks I could have reused it. For a radius of about 1.5 inches around the path of the bullet's travel the newspaper was pretty mushed up. I am convinced this round hitting a large grizzly/elk/moose in the chest would have exited out their backside. Old black powder loads at 1300-1500 fps with .45 calibre 400 grain and larger flat nose bullets were reported to fully penetrate and exit bison regardless of the angle of the shot. I believe it.
I want a rematch that was too close to call we need a winner
He was using a run of the mill slug and one of the hottest 45-70’s, hes’s already done 45-70 tests vs a brenneke black magic slug and the black magic did more damage.
@@nickleback3695 go to his playlists check out the 4570 catagory and watch 4570 extreme penetrators video where it broke the second block and really i just like cinder block tests its easy and cheap for who tee whoo
You should have used some 3 inch mags for the 12 gauge. Maybe Brenneke slugs. I would choose the 12 gauge for almost everything if not every thing. And don't discredit the 20 gauge either. Good video!
I prefer 20 ga, very underrated. 🤓🍻
Great show loved it.
Thanks for another cool video brother !
If you look at the slowmo you can how the energy continued on after the first cinder block.it's hard to deny the 12 gauge!
This was a good comparison. But, it all boils down to physics. I knew the slug would go deeper through the cement because it's 1 ounce! The energy is sustained longer.
Enjoyed watching the video Adam get better soon have a great weekend 😎👍🤜🤛💥💥🇺🇸
Wow, that’s was awesome 👏, thanks
Who tee who
Well, at about 2:00 you asked us to put our guesses in the comments and I honestly don't think that .45-70 will go anywhere as far as you're saying. I paused the video to write this. Let's see what happens.... I'll comment some more after the test. I feel like I should dim the lights and be eating popcorn, lol.
Edit - Ok, I'm glad I took a chance on this one. I thought the .45-70 would go further than it did but I didn't think it would go through all of those cinder blocks. This was definitely an interesting video. More importantly, you are looking healthier and rested. God bless.
I expected the 4570 to go further
The 45-70 exploded the cinder block into much smaller fragments than the 12 guage did, but the penitration results were ruffly the same. I'd like to see you compare a 308 to a 30-06 on the cinder blocks.
Super awesome vid bro!
I know that .45-70 is a beast, but when you predicted it reaching the water jug, my expression went to 😵💫 After watching some of your other cinder block tests, I thought no way. I did think it would get into that second block though. Those big ole bullets seem to drop off their energy much quicker than those faster, smaller bullets. Was interesting to see that .45-70 pulverize that block though.
IMO and I'm not an expert but the best gun, home defence, big game, small game is a 12ga. It's versitily makes it the almost best all around gun.
Both great rounds it's a bad day to be a cinder block I thought that the 4570 would run a lil deeper great video hope your feeling better WTW keep them coming
I expected both to go through more. But I didn’t expect the 45/70 to out preform the slug. Still awesome
I've seen other channels do cinder block tests, and it's hard to bust more than one. It's a lot like shooting a sandbag
Wow that was surprising!!!
Awesome video ideas keep it up 👍🏼
Quality content! As per you usual.
Sticking with my single shot Henry shooting a sabot round!
Could've moved the water jug to the second hole and tried to catch it again.
How about put the water jug right behind the third wall (between the first and second cinder blocks)?
Put a water jug into every cinder block cavity ...
Nice. That was sweet. I guessed correct on the slug. But the 45/70 got me. I thought a few more than that. But damn it made sand. Impressive either way
Genuinely honest review. That's cool you didn't edit out your predictions. I did think that 4570 was gonna do better. I'm curious if you would get the same results if you ran the test a few times. Thanks for the video
This was a typical 2 3/4 1 oz 12 gauge slug competing with the top of the line +P 405 grain Hard Cast 45/70 Gov’t that performed identical.
It was wishful thinking that the 45/70 would make it to the 1 gallon water jug.
In the words of China Joe: "Come on Man!" Hootily-Who- please shoot the 45-70 thru one block, with a water jug as a backstop. And you could do the same with the 12 ga. Slug-o-matic. We might get to see projectile remnants- What say ye? After your shoulder recovers, or better still, use the lead sled.🤗🤓🗣👏🏼
Ditto to this. And turn them blocks sideways, backed up with the gallon jugs
I thought the 45-70 would really go further great video
These cinder blocks have a nasty habit of soaking up endless amounts of kinetic energy. I think to pass each wall requires an exponentially higher amount of momentum, mass, and sectional density. To pass all the cinder blocks in the vid might require a 1 POUND brass rod that's a foot long.
My self as a 45/70 and a Bennelli super nova tactical shot gun owner..Shooting The 430 gr HSM BEAR LOAD HARD CAST..A 3 inch slug.. 45 /70 hands down if I had to use it in Bear Country on the Big Bears

There were some HSM Bear Loads in that box too. Those Grizzlies are more powerful.
I don't have a 45/70 question, how about a 50-110 lever action rifle. It's 67% more powerful then a 45/70. Check it out on Lever guns 50 on UA-cam. It would be a great side trip for the family and us. I thought I knew a lot about lever action rifles, but this guy is way ahead of me. God Bless your family Adam.
These are hot .45-70 loads, suitable for RUger No. 1/Marlin lever action rifles, and, about the same or hotter than the .450 Marlin....; not even close to standard .45-70 loadings, so, your comparisons to the .50-110 are not applicable.
