  • We got the BIGGEST willow cuttings to root through water propagation and I truly cant believe how well this worked! These are quite literally logs that we picked up from somebodies house as they were cutting down the weeping willow tree, all we did was stick them into a bucket full of water and BOOM, ROOTS GREW EVERYWHERE!
    Now its time to transfer them into soil which i am slightly worried about because its so hot out but i have to get them established before winter comes. UPDATES WILL BE COMING SOON!

    I am 63 years old and for many years I would not even consider planting a weeping willow tree. I grew up in South Georgia and the old people back then "some not all" believed that if you planted a weeping willow that once it got large enough to cover your grave you would die. I have not thought about that old tale for many years. Great video :)

      Just don't plant it near a graveyard and you should be ok 😉 I plant my willow trees near water sources so they have room to grow and get big.

    I like your little philosophical rant at the end and the way the spots of light shining through your hat play on your face... looks cool.

      We had 3 willow trees in our yard, some of which were nearly 100 years old, they were massive about 3-5 feet around at the base. Sadly a hurricane came and killed 2 of them, and we had to cut down the final one after it died. But the good news is that we are replanting the trees this year, to restart the cycle.

    I wonder if it would be better to shave off the bark before putting it in water?

    Fun fact: mullein is paralytic to fish. In a survival situation, the seeds can be crushed and tossed into water. Once the seeds come into contact with a fish, it will float to surface, Making the fish easily harvestable

      Definitely, it was a massive tree he cut down that looked exactly like a weeping willow. Maybe hard to tell from small section of log, thank you so much for watching and commenting! :)

    Love the content until you start talking about God. Yep, it’s your channel but do you not know that it’s condescending to talk religion when you are advertising garden content?

      Feel free to skip, God, not religion, is the foundation of my gardening practices. Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed the video 👨‍🌾

      I don’t think that encouraging others to help somebody out is a condescending notion.

      @@ExpeditionHomestead you can do that without the God piece. I’m sorry, religious beliefs are personal. Humanity and helping one another and loving every person, no matter what, is not exclusive to a belief in a god. The majority of homesteading, sustainable living seem to be primarily religious people. It gets old. I’m here to learn about gardening, I have the religion thing handled. I do enjoy the content and don’t mean to be contrary. I respect all beliefs, just don’t need to hear about them.

    • @ExpeditionHomestead
      @ExpeditionHomestead  2 роки тому +10

      I never said it was exclusive to only those with spiritual beliefs either.. just as you do not have to be spiritual to accept and understand the message I am giving, which sounds like you do because you believe loving and caring for one another should be common ground for all people. I cannot be genuine and truthful to my viewers without periodically expressing the symbolism behind what I do as a gardener.
