      Much love OCZ. I love seeing what people think of trails when they hike them and the reasons why, so just piggy-backing off of others. Happy trails!!

    Absolutely beautiful! I’d love to do it but would be terrified of grizzly encounters. Thanks for sharing for those of us that can’t or won’t.

      Indeed it was. So many people are afraid of bear. As someone who has spent many days and miles in the backcountry I’ve never once had a problem with a bear and I’ve had over a dozen encounters. Don’t let this deter you from such exquisite adventure. They are way more afraid of you than you realize (my pep talk 😊)

    Thanks for IDing the flowers! I've been using Newcomb's Guide for years. You? A few years ago the rangers warned us to hang our packs on a line between trees as the porcupines where terrible. We did that but I mistakenly left my cork handled trekking pole out and the porkies hammered the cork.

    • @TheOutdoorGypsy

      My pleasure. My curiosity has gotten the best of me over the years and I thought it’s time for me to ID them. I usually use a cool site called wildflowersearch.org. Can use it all over the states and at different elevation. More recently my iPhone can ID the flowers by looking at the details in the picture. I have to say it does an incredible job so far. Yeah the porcupines, like most animals I’m guessing go after the salt from sweat on the cork. Regardless I’m sure that wasn’t fun.

    Thank you for this brought back memories of my hike in 2023 We did 3 day Started Day 1-Taggart Lake Trailhead to Philps Lake, Day 2-Philps Lake to Death Canyon Shelf, Day 3-Death Canyon Shelf to Sunset Lake, Day 4- Sunset Lake to Jenny Lake. The views were Epic we did get Rain and there was climbing Hurrican Pass but once up there the clouds broke for awesome views as we descended. Over all the Best trip I have had to date.

    Awesome video, I will be taking on TCT with my buddies during the first week of September. We're starting at the Granite Canyon Trailhead and ending at String Lake Trailhead. How would we travel back to our car at the Granite Canyon Trailhead? Are their trams or any forms of transportation?

    • @TheOutdoorGypsy
      @TheOutdoorGypsy  6 місяців тому

      You should be able to schedule either a taxi Uber lift or some ride share ahead of time with any problems as long as you have a rough day and time to tell them to pick you up.

    On Death Canyon Shelf, was there a water source nearby? Just wondering if I get a permit for my group, will we need to water up before setting up camp on the shelf.

    • @TheOutdoorGypsy
      @TheOutdoorGypsy  10 днів тому +1

      @@davidbruce3931 great question. When we were there and the specific place we camped (it’s a huge area) we did find a small stream we could fill up at. I suspect depending on the snow pack and time of year it may not be the same. There are no larger bodies of water up there that I recall.

    @summercourvelle3588 6 днів тому

    Y’all parked on WY 22? How did y’all get back to your car afterwards? Do you know if there’s shuttles that run from Jenny lake to that area? We are currently trying to figure out our logistics from this trip. Thanks!

    • @TheOutdoorGypsy
      @TheOutdoorGypsy  6 днів тому

      @@summercourvelle3588 good questions. We hired a taxi to and from the start and end points respectively. It was the easiest way logistically. All other ways just left too much room for error.

      We did it in middle august. There was snow last year for quite a while too so we specifically planned around that and august is usually the month. I hope you and your son get to complete it. It’s my favorite trip to date and I’ve been on a lot.

      @@TheOutdoorGypsy we spent two nights at the north fork group site via cascade canyon and made it partially to hurricane before the route got a little sketchy. The next day we went to lake solitude before leaving the park.
