best tip i ever got was: Take it slow, League has so many aspects to it that trying to learn all of them and actively improve at the same time is impossible. Make a goal. like getting 80 cs at 10 min, training how you harass, wanting to pay more attention to the minimap etc etc just a singular goal, and keep yourself to just that one goal eventually it will become part of your subconscious and you won't even need to think about it at the point you've forgotten what you where trying to train grab something else that you want to improve in and dedicate yourself to that one thing. League starts with Knowledge the only way to get better is to actively play and understand both your own and your opponents mindset.

I started playing league like 4 months ago. I understand the basic concepts of the game, but I am not good enough and I don't feel comfortable in playing ranked yet. The lanes I play are support and mid. I'm currently trying to improve my CSing, wave control, understand how an enemy champion plays, how he uses his abilities and how to avoid it, when to recall, where to place my wards etc etc. When I started playing I didn't know that all that stuff existed and it actually makes me want to learn all that in order to get better. Seriously, league has changed my gaming experience a lot since I started playing.

One time I faced a D2 player against me who was smurfing in silver and she carried her team with patience and split pushing. After the match she told me I was really good with mechanics so she did not want to get into fights so she waited for my and my team's mistakes and she split pushed whenever she had the chance to. She invited me to play some 1v1 matches and assured me that I do not need to work on my mechanics and should focus more on macro plays so I could start climbing. The best advice I ever received, because I thought my mecsanics needed working on and my macro was fine. This is exactly why everyone in any elo needs someone who can tell then what they need to improve. I was lucky to get this brilliant player against me, I can only advice anyone to get a coach if they want to climb.

Ok guys well i got teached from my Brother. He is actual 210 LP Master and was Challenger in Season 7 and 8 at EU Server. He teached me that ive first to Master my Lane. Im Support Main and he teached me to play ONLY CARRYSUPPS in Lowelo because my ADC's wont know their Champs for real ! This are Brand, Zyra, Velkoz and Neeko. So go into Practicetool and Botgames, learn the Champs and their Combos as long as u dont have to think about it in Real Games. Now one of the most important things that U HAVE TO DO IN LOWELO -> MUTE ALL ! No joke guys this Point changed my Gameplay alot because my Brother told me that in Lowelo ppl are doin 99% Bullshitcalls. So i decided to mute all, even with Pings and just 3 - 4 Weeks later ive learned something that changed my complete mindset in League of Legends for real... Ive learned TO READ THE GAMES ! Its pretty hard to explain for me but u will get a kind of "Sense" for the Game in a whole different Way u have ever played it in Lowelo. U will see incoming catches and forcing Teamfights much faster and u will know where the enemy Jng will be the most Time. Well its rly pretty hard to explain for me im sorry.... Than learn the warding Game. Vision is the Key to force catches and Teamfights. And finally MASTER UR ROLE ! Would be to much to write it down here for any Role but its important that u understand what ur Maingoal should be in every Match (and NOOOOO the Supp is NOT the ADC's slave - to all Supps out there LEARN THAT !!!). Im actually Plat 1 and tryharding to get Dia 4. 3 Months ago i was Silver 3 so yeah, this is a whole new Game to me thx to my Brother =) "Hard work beats Talent when Talent dont work hard !"

So just have fun with playing the game, keep your cool, don't flame and feed, always focus on your minion wave control to be able to catch up and not be tilted. However, do have some limitations, don't be toxic as well and encourage them instead when they fck up. Do not troll and play a normal game when you're practicing a champion to avoid feeding in ranked games, losing LP and get reported. Those tips actually helped and I learned how to play better by myself and some more tips from my other favorite streamers like Yozu and bobqinXD so 3 years ago I was stuck a mere beginner, stuck in Silver, but now everything has changed. Over 400K Mastery Points on Lux and now I'm at Platinum II. I might use ProGuides too and be finally able to reach my dreams which is to reach High Elo. If ProGuides will help me achieve my dream, why not use it? Its always mentioned in Nicolai's videos. Lol

QOTD: I have a really good friend who coaches rec teams and he told me as a jungler if something ever happens on the map where I can't help or do anything about it, stop and think to myself "even though something bad happened, how can I gain an advantage" once I started thinking that, there is an increase in win rates when I do that opposed to when I don't.

Last tip is so important - I played an ARAM few days ago. We had 4 squishy damage dealers and a Sett main. I told him to build full tank not the damage (we needed someone to tank the incoming damage) and he yelled at me that I'm so dumb, he is a Sett main and he knows the items best. The result was that we lost, and he did 0 dmg because he had 3 damage items and he couldn't even stay alive for 5 seconds. You don't need damage items when you can't survive long enough to deal that damage.

Best advice I received for improving was from Huzzy. In one of his videos, his teammate typed in chat “that was lucky”. Huzzy explained that there is no such thing as “luck” in league. If you lose a 1v1, it’s because YOU got outplayed. This mentality has helped me because it forced me to accept that I’m not perfect and I make mistakes.
My strategy I adopted was typing “mb” in chat REGARDLESS of whether it actually was or not. This made me identify parts of MY play that was detrimental. There always something to fix.
Not only does this help my mental, but my teammates as well. It’s quite relieving when someone takes responsibility for something that you felt you could have changed. It reaffirms that you’re in this together, not against each other. You’ve got 5 opponents already, you don’t need more!
Of course there are some asshats that will say something like “yeah that’s your bad, you suck, uninstall, never play that champ again” but these people are inevitable and are part of the journey as much as anything else. Glhf in season 11!

This is the number one tip my friend told me that improved my gameplay. When you do something, commit. Just commit. Even if it's bad. If it's bad, you'll learn. If it's good, you'll get ahead. But if you don't commit to something, then you'll do nothing.
I would spin in circles thinking if I should engage or retreat, and then I'd either engage too late and die... or not be far enough to retreat and get caught and die...
But now I engage and die, but that's enough for my team to win the fight -- or I retreat and don't feed.

Till diamond u can just play a few same champs. Because after playing them a lot, u pay less attention on csing, thinking about behaviour in different situations and this saves the time for your brain to concentrate on important macro aspects and on micro like when to harass, how to catch him effectively etc. Of course you will be a lot stronger and more impactful.
Also get used to watch to map and side lanes with F1,2,3,4 (especially if u mid) and make a decision about what to do next.
The most important thing players dont mention is pick. It is not just about counters. Like when your opponent picks a scaler, u can sure pick a pusher (if you have a lategame-champs in a team) to get him being under the tower and losing cs and roam. U will be much more useful and will be able to pick objects. Also pick roamer on mid if your bot is not stronger on a lane phase because almost all bot pushs in this case and mid cant gank. As well as jgl. Before starting a match watch on a whole composition. And set a macro or micro weaknesses compare to the opponent comp.
Watch for the timings of dragons or herolds and make a wave management according to it.
Dont tilt, stay calm. U will be much stronger. U can mute all (only chat, not signals) because your teammates dont write anything speacial. And unmute if neccessary in lategame.
Vision on a specific spots according to a game. Make sure u know where to Defensive wards and where to attacking.
    Sorry for my eng.

Don't get me wrong, some of those tips may be helpful to me but as someone who has started League only recently the ways these tips are told aren't helpful. It amazes me that higher tier players will try to help lower tier players like me, but fail to formulate it understandable. Here are some of the things I had problems understanding:
Number 7: Looking at other lanes is hard for a beginner like me. I rarely experience the told situation of "just sitting under the tower after clearing a wave". Maybe my games were odd, but it barely ever happens to me that no enemy minion or champion is with me on my lane. It might come with experience, but looking at other lanes while keeping myself safe at the same time is to me not possible.
Number 5: Roaming in this case is depending on the situation of the wave. Here is the thing: I haven't had "wave control" tactics in my games yet. I don't know the advantages of a "slow push" or what that is. The term "Lane priority" might be common, but I still don't know what it means.
Number 3: I didn't understand this point at all. Whats the message? If youre stronger attack? I dont get this one.
Number 1: Building the same items over and over again is simple: I follow the recommended items, since I don't know every Champion and their attacks and stats by heart. I don't know which Champion has High Armor or MR (whatever it is, probably magic resistance??). I also don't know all items and which are good for which situation. So its easier to buy recommended items, instead of buying something wrong and getting flamed for it.
The problem is: League isn't really friendly for beginners. The Tutorial is a joke that doesn't even explain roles like adc, how supporter items work and which to buy, where certain champions should play, warding, the different exp of camps and minions, what dragons or baron do, etc.

    • @ethangatchalian6031

      Hi there!
I don't normally comment or reply but I thought I might because you worded your comment so nicely I thought I might try and clear some things up. Just letting you know I'm not the best at the game but I'll try and do what I can to explain a few things.
Number 7: Like you said, sometimes its not possible to play safe and look at other lanes at the same time. In these circumstances you should just continue playing as per normal. A tip I suggest is to use the "F-Keys" (F1, F2, F3 etc) which quickly jumps to the other players on your team, and using space bar to jump back to you with the camera.
Number 5: I'm still trying to master lane control myself but hopefully this video is useful.
      ua-cam.com/video/I8qqgVVlN8I/v-deo.html
Number 3: Power spikes are when champions gain a lot of strength instantly. For example when buying an item or a level up granting you another ability. The video is saying to take advantage of when you level up as you gain a lot of power. Therefore you are stronger than your opponent until the spike as well. So basically fight while you are a lot stronger.
Number 1: For starting off recommend items are ok. Once you keep playing the game and learn more, you'll eventually know when to build what. I recommend watching videos from someone who mains (plays that champion a lot) to see what they build and when. Plus they normally have like guides and stuff that tell you when you should build what. To see a champion's Magic Resist and Armor etc. you just have to click on them while in game and then look at their stats in the corner near their portrait.
Finishing of here, you're right that the league tutorial isn't the best but you can find a lot of good tutorial videos on youtube like the one I linked if you know what to search.
Anyways I hope I was at least a little bit helpful lol :)

@@ethangatchalian6031 First of all, thank you for sharing your experiences with me, those things you wrote are really helpful.
I was aware of being able to jump to myself with space but the other keys (F1 etc.) were new to me. That makes it a lot easier, thank you!
The website Mobafire was really helpful for me, but getting gameplay might become a little tricky, since i am a support/poke main and I think there might be more videos about other more "interesting" roles.
I agree with you on your note about better tutorials on other websites, but I hope you understand my slight frustration of having to learn from other sources. I expect that from going to University not learning how to play a game casually xD.

Mario Manuel Aymerich and thats exactly why I’m saying.. they don’t teach you the basics for normals. All they teach you is to hit minions and hit objectives.
Sure, it teaches you the basic goal of the game, but league is much more complicated than that and anyone who doesn’t do some outside research is not going to have a pleasant experience learning the game, considering the league community is full of smurfs and toxic players.
It’s a horrid tutorial that doesn’t set you up to play well or play smart. I haven’t played it since I first started league, about 5 years ago, but I just remember it was a bullshit tutorial. I was just lucky my roommate at the time could actually teach me how the game works. And then the various UA-cam content that taught me how to play the game optimally and which champs are typically played in which roles.

Best tip i ever got. This works for me personally since then, and since i got out from silver elo. I highly suggest this one to those who wants to climb the ladder.
    About me.
I started playing from season 7 and im silver for a whole season, hovering up to silver 2 down to silver 5, having like 200 ranked games. Season 8 of August 2018 i climbed from silver 4 up to Plat 5 in just two weeks. Pretty Hilarious, but i do think its all about luck and i play 10 games a day at that time. Since ive been busy this 2019 i havent played much league, in season 9 i climbed up from silver 2 to plat 3 consisting of 300 games. Im currently at Plat 3 and just a casual player not hardcore anymore.
Sorry for the long intro, here it is in no particular order
    1. Dont care about your rank. Play for fun while learning and trying to improve. Be patient, think of it like its just a game, no need to be stressed out. Don't think about it. You will win and you will lose a lot of games. Instead Focus more on your gameplay (Cs, Warding, Mechanics, Map awareness, This also impacts your attitude positively :)). Rank is just a shiny plate :p
    2. Everyone is just as shitty as you are, Everyone on your team is trying hard and wants to win. Dont flame someone who's feeding, instead help them out like telling them what to do or what to build. (We can't do something on Trolls, INTers and AFKers) You don't have to be over positive complimenting those 4 people on your team, just be neutral and focus. Even though its solo queue its a team game.
    3. Setting up your mindset, before you play make sure you have a complete sleep (Minimum of 7 hrs), Eaten your meal and get the job done. If your from work and school but have a good sleep and great meal its fine to play. Because if youre not doing this you will feel sluggish, rusty and angry at some point. Also dont play when your grandma/friend/dog died. These are my personal tips that ive got from watching tons of videos that works for me personally, Im not good at the game and im just a platinoob. Also sorry for my bad english, i suck at it since then. This one is a great video btw! Thanks!😁

Best advice I can give is to learn every role moderately well. I can't tell you how many times I've seen and ADC give orders to their support when its clear they don't know the support role at all. If you take the time to learn all champ archetypes you'll better know what your teammates and opponents are looking for in each situation. This allows you to react better to your teammates engages and avoid getting caught out. It is also important to form a rough game plan based on comp. This could be as simple as "play for late" or "look we have a cho 5 man at every drake to guarantee a fast soul". I have seen too many late game comps give up because of an 7-8 kill deficit. If you have a late game hypercarry and decent CC to peel for them, stay in the losing game and maybe you'll come back. You'll win more games this way than with a fast ff. Reading a champ's abilities does not count as knowing them. You have to play them a few times

The best advice that I received isn't exactly one thing but is something that I did all at once and that is:
    - Change the fingers position on the keyboard from QWER to QWE
    - Unlocking the camera from my character and watching more the minimap
    - Watching competitive play paying attention to the commentary
I went litteraly from bronze to gold

The most helpful advice was when i played adc and one of my premates, who was like plat, told me to freeze the wave and how to do it. This was the first time i ever thought about wave macro which is half the way to winning your lane. So obviously, this was the most important advice i ever got.

My little tip: (even though i'm bronze though i feel like i'm gold at best): i mute everyone on the other team, and only my teammates who are being toxic so i can focus on the game cause the pinging right on top of my champ or right by me is very distracting and annoying as hell.
As a support main i ward key spots to help keep vision but its real struggle when your the ONLY one warding, i ping my spells and skills so my whole team knows that my q or my ult or my spells are down and for how long.
I really need to work on this issue i got with TRYING to save everyone, something in me just wants to TRY and save them when the other me i push back into the void thats telling me "LET THAT FOOL DIE"

My advice is to not play sup. It's just an awful role at low elo. Botlane in general. If ur adc decides he's on a suicide mission u can't do shit about it. Even laning phase is basically a coinflip in low elo. Other roles can at least win lane and help others by roaming letting em get the kills if possible.

    • @initman01
      @initman01 4 роки тому

Support is probably the easiest role either that or top lane in terms on gaining and losing LP you sound like you're on the right path, just keep practicing, making better decisions and being there in team fights will help you stack assists and get that LP to climb.

The penetration thing is something I'm noticing more and more. I mostly play normals, but god damn no one buys penetration for some reason. As a Swain player, Sorc shoes, Morellonomicon, and the occasional void staff if they're building MR are soooo helpful. Not to mention the grievous wounds on that Morello. Lots of champions have strong healing, and being able to reduce the healing capabilities of an entire enemy team as long as they're in my ultimate during teamfights is so handy.

I think the turning point of my skill was when I realized the philosophy of the roles. I played jung all last season and this season wanted to play mid so I would be able to play a solo lane. I was winning lane every game but never won, then I heard a quote by dopa “the role of mid is to help the jungler” I litteraly lost sleep thinking about that quote and revised my champion pool around it and climbed from iron to plat.

    5 USEFULL TIPS:
FIRST TIP: The best advice I can give you: USE YOUR BRAINS>…. I know it sounds weird but: just play and think while making your plays. It makes such big difference during your games. Once you start autopiloting: you start making mistakes a lot easyer while falling back on your brons / silver / gold plays. Becoming better means investing and continious focus.
SECOND TIP: DIE LESS. Why do you die: Because of a lot or reasons ''which I don't care about''. Are all deaths neccesary? Definitily not. Play while thinking ''would this kill me''. Avoid those situations unless you believe you won't die. Less gold for the enemy while still getting the gold when you make good or decent plays yourself. Play with reason and your ammount of deaths per game will quickly drop. Teamfights might be an exception / situational per game.
THIRD TIP: VISION. Wards: nope. Think about where you are. Always in lane while trying to farm, poke, fight or taunt enemies. You're simply being a beacon for your enemies. Think again. BE AS MUCH OUT OF SIDE AS POSSIBLE. No minions in lane: What do you want to do? Roam? be in the jungle or supporting jungler for skutler krabs on river. DO SOMETHING. TRY THINGS AND SEE WHAT WORKS. Anything goes. Even if you do nothing; even then enemies have to consider the fact that you're missing in action and need to play around the possibility that you are somewhere else on the map.
FOURTH TIP: BE CREATIVE: During midgame: are you fighting 3 man mid or do you go as team through the jungle to catch enemies of guard in jungle or side lanes??? Be together and roam as one. Ward and have vision. Just wonder how unpleasent it is for enemies to not know what they can or can't do because your whole team is missing in action. Take enemies down and go then for objectives.
FIFTH TIP: FARMING. I challenge you: make sure to get all farm from the first 3 waves. Sounds easy??? Try and think again. Give it all your focus, use your abilities for it if neccesary. Got poked a little: use a health pot; but make sure to get all 19 minions. It's way harder then it sounds. WHY THIS CHALLENGE>??? it's simple: you manage 19/19 and you are sure to be well focussed on the game since it's a pretty difficult / challenging task for most players.
THOSE TIPS MIGHT NOT MAKE YOU A PRO PLAYER BUT AT LEAST THEY WILL MAKE YOU IMPROVE YOUR GAME FOR SURE IF YOU'RE A LOW ELO PLAYER.
What do you think about those tips? PLS comment. Are they usefull? I hope so.
