perfect. On the unpadded flat rate, I've shipped hair items and lotions, gels like that and never had a problem. To keep the envelope from wrinkling on the bottom, I stuff the bottom with packing newsprint/brown paper (that I get free), that makes the bottom smother. you can even roll up some paper and fill the top that will make tape easier/smoother.
I would be afraid the envelope would come open at the seams. Glad you're showing how you package your sold items. I appreciate the info. Very helpful.
Those envelopes are very sturdy. I always reinforce around with packing tape if I'm sending something a little bulkier but they are very well designed.
At my post office they always ask if there is any liquid fragile food or flame and then they also ask customers to press yes or no on the card reader machine where u pay and when I tell them it is liquids they just say ok answer the question on the monitor and then they put it in a separate bag they have there.
Those padded mailers and the other cardboard flat rate are suprisingly sturdy.. Good videp. I use the cardboard when I ship DVD's , CD's or ephemera. Just a little extra.
The folders that say "envelope" are the ones they are cracking down on, because they have to be able to go flat thru their scanner. So that would be like a letter, or paper.

Hi Lindey, another great video! When I travel I always put a small piece of tape on the lids that pop up so that they don't open. I may try that too. I also found the cotton candy mints. Will let you know how it turns out.
I know this video was made in 2016 but Nowadays it is COMPLETELY against the USPS to ship Liquids via Priority Mail, you have to use plain parcel post.
You can still ship liquids priority mail - just not flammable liquids

Those bread bags you use are cool. Put tape on the cap around the bottle for liquids or use saran wrap.
You dont have to take it into the post office, you just have to send it Parcel Ground Select. Anything with alcohol has to go Ground. You can print a label at home.

Does she tell the post office if these packages are fragile? Cuz I feel like if you don't tell the post office it's fragile but have fragile on the package they don't care.
I would be afraid if I use a priority envelope but I choose to pay the first-class rate, since the item big in size but light in weight, is that acceptable?

Great video. What size are the bread bags? Where do you get them. I currently impulse sealed my shampoos but think bread bags would be faster, always looking for better and faster, more efficient ways to do things and time saving.
Not sure the size of them but they come in boxes of 100. I get them in the Ziploc aisle at Walmart :)
The post offices in my area they will as ask that you do mark it as liquid, but lotions & shampoo they don't care. Perfumes, Fragrances, Soda you can't ship it air cause I asked and she said that these things expand in flight that is why you can't ship it air. So ground is the only why to ship those certain items.

I have a hunch that they don't pay attention to fragile, or any other kind of sticker. I know from experience that "this end up" bears no authority with them. I just assume now that "Any end up" is actually how it's going to go, so pack accordingly.

??? Could u address how to ship open perfume bottle?? I often see them at garage sales and some are very expensive, I'm sure would be a great resale item, but not sure how to ship. I use those flat rate & padded mailers on eBay for as much as I can stuff in also..just tape/reinforce the fr corners w/tape. It pays to be cost competitive when shipping clothing! Excellent video, no wonder you have over 25,000 views!!!

I am very interested in this video because I have been told in no uncertain terms, very adamantly that liquids can ship ground only-no ifs, ands or butts. That one of the questions they are now required to ask and you have to sign on their little machine that your pkg. does not contain liquids. They saidddd that with NO EXCEPTIONS, anything that contains liquids have to go ground. They will only ship it that way. Is their a printed document that can be shown to my town postal workers? They don't care what I say. They are very bossy know-it-allsss, and don't care what I say. They will only ship them ground-period. What do I do?

If you have the cardboard stuck in there, than you shouldn't have a problem placing your sticker afterwards, just saying.

I have Ocean Postion Aloe with a pump listed in Ebay and i package it with the dang bubble wrap that hase to be inflated plus regular bubble wrap around the top in a padded poly and I've still gotten messages about broken bottles.

I just mailed 2 oz. of perfume a couple weeks ago and the postal clerk told me that liquids can ONLY go ground. Maybe the rules have changed since you had all those national phone calls.
I also had a post office counter clerk tell me that I could not ship jeans in a flat rate envelope. I just asked her to please bring the po manager who told both of us that it was ok to ship. I don't know how to ship perfume, but just ask for the manager @ post ofc next time you go or call.
My post office told me that too. Have you tried to mail any other perfumes since? If you did, did you talk to a manager at the p.o.? If you did, what did they say?

Such an inspiration for us! Thank you for sharing your videos. I can so closely relate to so many (life and eBay) experiences good and bad that you've shared! I have dabbled in eBay since 2000 and now got my fiance into it and we just decided to just kick it into full gear. Tonight alone your name came up several times (hushed tones of course!) during a spontaneous source... stumbled upon a thrifty store we didn't know existed. Thank you! Now my question...yes...there is one! Lol. How do you package bottles with the trigger sprayer so it doesn't break? They are so fragile. Plus they are squeezier and would pop? ...like your Downy wrinkle releaser. Flat bottles or round with sprayers. TIA
Those kind of bottles I do the same way really. Extra bubble wrap around the trigger to fatten it up so it is the same width as the bottom of the bottle, then wrap cardboard around. Never had a problem! The only squeeze bottles I've mailed was the downy wrinkle releaser. Sold 6 or 7 of them without issue! :)

PLEASE reinforce the taped closures on EVERYTHING! I'm ex FedEx and did the scanning on these types of packages...it's really not a good thing when the mailers come open before they even leave the station for their journey. Law offices have sent huge batches of papers that literally busted open with "sign here" tabs flapping out. Use the proper size vessel and make sure they are going to stay shut.
As far as the squish test goes...all well and good, but imagine a 40# box getting thrown on top of the liquids...might not be a pretty thing. Choose your packaging wisely.

Wouldn't it be better to ship the multi-items in a box? A box can be just as light as the bubble envelopes; right?
the_shiny_penny OMG! Yes! My dad and sister used to work at a FedEx Smartpost and would tell stories of packages that had busted open. Also, a majority of workers would step on packages while loading those trucks. It was unavoidable most of the time. So, a 180lb. man stepping on packages...not squish proof at all!

Question -- why not use a box? Sometimes a box is as light as bubble wrap and doesn't add weight?
How do you pack a 41 fl oz bottle of laundry detergent so it won't leak? Can't stay on side for more than 1/2 hr before liquid starts oozing out from under cap. "This Side Up" labels are a suggestion not mandatory for postal handlers, so would not chance that. Tried the plastic wrap under the cap, did not work. Will eat though any tape during the 2-3 day shipping time for sure because the product is a concentrate. Will have have to dispose of the three if can't ship with no leaks. Can you offer any tips? Thanks.
have you ever tried putting the bubble wrap in first instead of partially in and then wrapping it around over top of the products after the fact? Or putting the bubble wrap around the items before you put it in the bubble mailer? How did that work out and why did you choose what you chose?
Reseller Mom Wendy I found that wrapping bubble wrap around items BEFORE putting them in the padded flat rate was very difficult. sliding bubble wrap against bubble wrap is not easy!
What about shipping perishable liquids

What about liquid food like raw honey in either glass bottles or plastic containers, ranging from 250ml to 1000ml?
I've been selling a lot of beauty care items on ebay such as lotion, makeup, etc but now that the weather is warming up do you recommend only selling these in mild or colder months? The delivery trucks probably have no a.c. and then the packages usually sit outside all day until the buyer gets home. I wouldn't worry too much about body wash or shampoo, but more expensive face creams or dandruff shampoos with active ingredients are what I'm thinking. Any thoughts?
