Aw, off the running trail. But that was quite a snowstorm. You are not alone with the sun damage. I hated hats when I was young, but have adapted to them now. I wear a hankerchief under the hat, but that would not keep the sun off your face. I hope you have a great hike at the Canyon, only South Kaibab is open until May 15, so that is the only choice to get to the river for a while. I have always said the best training for hiking Grand Canyon is hiking Grand Canyon.
