My dream was to cruise on a ship like that, nice bedroom with a balcony, much better than hotel itself, amazing food, an indoor swimming pool, theatres and restaurants?!?? What a floating mansion cruising in the sea
I have not been on this ship but I have been on The Independence Of The Seas twice, same cabin 1530 each time, and had the best holidays I have ever had in my life. The food was fantastic and entertainment was great. Both of these cruises were 2010/2011 and 2011/2012 and I have hundreds of pictures and hours of video of the places where I visited when the ship docked at each port. It's such a shame now with Covid that more people cannot enjoy a fantastic relaxing holiday seeing different ports of the world. Let's pray that this time next year we can all get back to normal.
I first took this trip in November 1982, on the Queen Elizabeth 2. There was a special Boat Train from London Waterloo that went nonstop directly to the Queen Elizabeth II Terminal. It used the tracks you can briefly see in the foreground. We walked from the train directly onto the ship, and the tagged luggage we put into the baggage van at London Waterloo was taken directly to our room. In 2005 we took the Queen Mary 2 eastbound, and noted that the tracks at the Southampton terminal were no longer used. Too bad.
i sailed on the 'real' Queen Mary back in January 1963 (i was 7 years old). We embarked in Manhattan (not brooklyn) for our ocean crossing to Southampton. Our return voyage was 3 months later, in March.
Many ships do , I crossed on The Queen M 2 , three times it does regular crossings , then The Norwegian Escape .The winner The Escape , for the most fun try the , Royal Carib , Oasis class ships .
Thank you for sharing this very nice clip! As a nearly 6 yr old back in 1972, we sailed with the "SS France" from N.Y. - LeHavre, France then back again ~2 months later. I have vague memories of the two trips, and would love to give the Q.M.2 a go with my girlfriend 😊😊
I had a ride on her Aunt (QE1) back in the winter of 1965. We sailed through a proper North Atlantic storm and I clearly remember watching the ocean rise and fall through the windows as we headed to New York. Two years later I sailed back from NYC to Southampton on The Carinthia, a much smaller Cunard.
Lovely video - thanks so much for making and posting. I am desperate to get away after this Covid crisis and am now living vicariously through videos like yours. I retired 16 months ago with three priorities: travel, travel and travel!
Definitely a cruise for the more experienced cruiser! No port days ("you're stuck in a 8x12' cell" as someone below put it), 'nothing to do' (no water slides or zip-lines), too many format nights (can't wear shorts, flip flops and Hawaiian shirts all the time). However, I for one am glad this more traditional experience is still available for those who would truly enjoy it.
It’s not a cruise, it’s a crossing, for anyone who needs to travel between Europe and the USA. Formal nights are optional, you can use the self service restaurant if you like. We were bound for Canada this time, a few years ago we were bound from London to Los Angeles.
Thank you for this, I got horribly seasick and can't get on any type of boat, ship or cruise and this is a great way to go on the journey without any of the trouble 😊
When I was a boy in the 1950 s my aunt would take me down to the docks to see the transatlantic liners arrive - the Queen Mary 1, Queen Elizabeth 11 and the USS United States. They crossed the Atlantic in about half the time the QM2 takes --- The United States setting the record of 3 days, 7 hours.
An Atlantic crossing with the coolest ship in the world imo; The Queen Mary 2- is the only form of cruise that's appealing to me. What an awesome experience that must be.
I've never been interested in cruises but I've always been fascinated by the Cunard and White Star ocean liners like the Olympic, Queen Mary, Mauretania, etc. One day I'd like to experience the Trans-Atlantic voyage on the Queen Mary 2. It looks to be the closest thing to the old ocean liners from another era.
My Mother came over from England on the Original Queen Mary after the war. It was still configured as a troop ship and the transition was taking place as they traveled.
Thanks for posting. I did the New York to Southampton crossing in 2016. Absolutely loved it and will hopefully do it again in the future (probably do the reverse crossing). The QM2 is by far the most beautiful ship on which I’ve traveled. It makes one appreciate the difference between a grand ocean liner and a cruise ship. I’ve always been obsessed with the elegance of ocean travel of the 30s and 40s, so if you want to try and get a taste of that today. The Queen Mary 2 is as close as you’re going to get. 🚢.
We took the queen Mary from Southampton to New York when we retired from military service. We were in our 60s and were the youngest people on board. I did a comedy act and would ask who is in their 60s who’s in their 70s was in their 80s? It was amazing how many people in their 80s were traveling on the ship. Had a great time had a storm followed us the whole way to the US.
I'm sure it was still a great time unfortunately for the storm behind you .perhaps your travel to New York another time and the weather will be amazing. She looks a nice ship to be honest .
Very nicely put together video. Really great quality. Thank you for NOT adding music! I'd have liked to see a sunrise or sunset, and the stars too though.
@derpy I compare every ship to the RMS Titanic. Because of the impact it brought to my life. Now what can I do about that? Absolutely nothing. The only reason why I would cruise on any ship to this day would be because of the RMS Titanic.
@derpy No ship will ever compare. But it will definitely be a reminder in my heart no matter what ship it is. I saw the movie at 6 years old. Ever since that day. I loved everything about it and completely fascinated.
Just a reminder you'll find the cost, whether food & drink is included, tips, photos, sailing dates at www.seat61.com/queen-mary-2-transatlantic.htm

Beautiful! I’ll be onboard in December, can’t wait! ❤️ 🚢
Hi Jonny, probably see you on board,me and my friend are also going in December.
There are many gay sailors on board who will bum you for a small fee.
Was lovely to see...Thank You for uploading...
Too bad.
Really enjoyed this video hope you and the family enjoyed the crossing.
i sailed on the 'real' Queen Mary back in January 1963 (i was 7 years old). We embarked in Manhattan (not brooklyn) for our ocean crossing to Southampton. Our return voyage was 3 months later, in March.
I had absolutely no idea crossings like this were still running. Amazing to see. Great video
Many ships do , I crossed on The Queen M 2 , three times it does regular crossings , then The Norwegian Escape .The winner The Escape , for the most fun try the , Royal Carib , Oasis class ships .
I'm poor too but at least we get to see how things look on travel videos so I am cool with it.
Did this cruise several years ago. This video is very nicely done...I enjoyed it very much!
An excellent video. I left Southampton on the Queen Elizabeth that night and stood on deck watching QM2 behind us as we headed for the Baltic.
I love the fact no one is narrating! Subtitles give you the info you need👍🏼
great
I had a ride on her Aunt (QE1) back in the winter of 1965. We sailed through a proper North Atlantic storm and I clearly remember watching the ocean rise and fall through the windows as we headed to New York. Two years later I sailed back from NYC to Southampton on The Carinthia, a much smaller Cunard.
What a brilliant video! It shows day to day instead of just the ship itself. Well done!
Thank you for showing a glimpse of this great ship and ambience - love the background noises and the view of a foggy morning NYC is fantastic!
Made the trip in 2014. Rain followed us for 10 days. I was in my 60’s and most of the passengers were in their 70’s and 80’s.
You are very beautiful woman with a beautiful smile, I wish you all the best this year, how is the weather over there now
Lovely video - thanks so much for making and posting. I am desperate to get away after this Covid crisis and am now living vicariously through videos like yours. I retired 16 months ago with three priorities: travel, travel and travel!
I’ve been on this ship from NY to Southampton back in the early 2000s. Absolutely amazing experience
I remember learning how to swim in the pivilion pool on deck 12. So nostalgic, thank you for this upload!
You should have learned to swim in the ocean
@Isaac G learn to swim in a pool, you’ll drown in the ocean. Learn to swim in the ocean, you won’t drown in a pool.
Crossed the pond three times twice P&O once America to England on the Independence of the Seas. Just loved it and would go again in a heartbeat.
Was on her last may stayed 2 weeks in USA then returned to Southampton on her same next year just lovely thank you
Great video, no inane music and very well edited. Thank you.
Beautiful, I hope to one day take the same voyage. I am very fond of Ocean Liners and their history.
The trip of my dreams since I was a child... someday...
Did this several years ago- would so do it again.... loved the planetarium.
What a beautiful adventure. Looks like great fun. I very much enjoyed watching, it was kinda like being there in a way.
This will be the most remembered ship of 21st century. For the next 80 years!
@@seat61 Thank you for pointing out the distinction!
BTW I was satirising the people who were leaving "this is boring" comments 😂
Some people can entertain themselves others need to be entertained.
Thank you for this, I got horribly seasick and can't get on any type of boat, ship or cruise and this is a great way to go on the journey without any of the trouble 😊
No talking just good video and descriptions, perfect!
Thank you!
Thank you for sharing! The "Queen" is on my list!
What an amazing video.
I love this channel. Keep up the good work.
An Atlantic crossing with the coolest ship in the world imo; The Queen Mary 2- is the only form of cruise that's appealing to me. What an awesome experience that must be.
ironic how this is the only form of cruise appealing to you, since it isn’t a cruise. :)
Hearing the lovely wind and foghorn. Can’t help but think of episode 9 of brideshead, the utterly romantic orphans of the storm. Thanks for video.
My Dad worked in the engine room on the Queen Mary... Before he passed away he said he would of liked to sail on Queen Mary 2 as a passenger.
@Marjo The stories he told about the QM were amazing...Sadly he never got to sail on the QM2.
Marjo. Maybe one day go to the states and visit the Queen Mary in dry dock.🤞
You are very beautiful woman with a beautiful smile, I wish you all the best this year, how is the weather over there now
I've never been interested in cruises but I've always been fascinated by the Cunard and White Star ocean liners like the Olympic, Queen Mary, Mauretania, etc. One day I'd like to experience the Trans-Atlantic voyage on the Queen Mary 2. It looks to be the closest thing to the old ocean liners from another era.
It is! I find it much easier to understand what travel was like back in the 1920s and 30s having crossed on QE2 and QM2.
@@seat61 still, would it kill them to do at least ONE high speed crossing every once in a while?!
My Mother came over from England on the Original Queen Mary after the war. It was still configured as a troop ship and the transition was taking place as they traveled.
Superb
Reminds me of a great trip a year ago.
Wonderful
Can’t wait to do it again!
Bahamas was my Journey, loved every second of it. 1988, my reward to myself after leg tracktion/broke femur and 11 months in a cast.
Very good job, steady filming and very informative, thank you!
The weather looks great for an Atlantic crossing!
Really good video. I love how you caught the changing of the captains and the helicopter rescue.
Spent 44 years at sea, 19 travelling the World, 25 in UK waters. Want to do this trip some day hopefully with sunny weather.
Brilliant. Love the balcony, private and protected.
I always wondered how QM2 looks like so this was informative. Thanks for the tour.
Superb ship, and video 👍🏻
Looks like a very relaxing trip. So many cruise ships are like being at a dance club/mall for a week.
Exactly. This looks like a throwback. Relaxing atmosphere.
Thankfully this isn’t a cruise ship.
Great video, never ever wanted to go on a cruise before, too many people in a small space, but this looks ace.
@Rover Cruise/crossing, its on a big ship and you are crossing the sea. Its a nice video and lovely ship, but its still a cruise.
Not a cruse
Very nicely put together video. Really great quality. Thank you for NOT adding music! I'd have liked to see a sunrise or sunset, and the stars too though.
Today’s modern day Titanic.
What an elegancy! And honor to be enjoying one of Cunards finest creation to this beautiful Earth! May God bless you all.
why do you people need to compare every single ship to the Titanic?
Cause it’s bigger than the Lusitania.
@derpy
I compare every ship to the RMS Titanic. Because of the impact it brought to my life. Now what can I do about that? Absolutely nothing. The only reason why I would cruise on any ship to this day would be because of the RMS Titanic.
@@l.a.dr0n389 even when a ship is absolutely incomparable to the Titanic?
@derpy
No ship will ever compare. But it will definitely be a reminder in my heart no matter what ship it is. I saw the movie at 6 years old. Ever since that day. I loved everything about it and completely fascinated.
