I have to say that is one of the nicer inside cabins I've seen. It feels light and bright 😎 The Queen bed split would annoy me. I know that's how they all are, but you've GOT to put a mattress topper on there to smooth the gap. 😊
Thanks for the brilliant cabin tour Fraser! This looks like a pretty good inside cabin, notwithstanding the melted hairdryer, bathroom issues, and ancient safe 😁 Totally agree with you on the small seating area is being a nice touch - it might not be the biggest, but do many inside cabins dont have the space for it. Loving your QM2 content 😍
Thanks for a great tour of the ship Fraser ! I am glad to see just what a inside cabin would feel like on a cruise and I must say not for me unfortunately. Thanks again great Job
Ahoy Fraser. Heard from some friends who traveled a few weeks ago on Queen Mary 2 about some of the dated features in the cabin, and I think your video shows that. Also, a few too many broken things. They laughed about the shower curtain, I mean, when was the last time that you saw a shower curtain, apart from a £29 a night B&B in Blackpool?
Ahoy Captain! You’re going to laugh at this, but I actually went to Blackpool and stayed in a cheap hotel recently, and it had a SCREEN and not a curtain 😂 I agree re too many broken things - I found this disappointing for a ship as well regarded as QM2 herself!
THat was spooky, you were in 5183, while I had 5177 just 3 rooms along! although did book inside cabin but they moved us to an outside right at the very front, and then on the night before sailing a bump up to the sheltered balcony! Was such a happy result! But I hear you on the bathroom, think its maybe the colour, reminds me of an old Austin Maestro lol Just wondering now if we had the same cabin steward (he did look after us which was good!) of if there had been a staff rotation at some point as thats a good 10/11 months between our sailings
Ahh, you’d have been SO close to my room - that’s such a coincidence! Maybe I’d agree about the colour - it certainly felt more old fashioned in there than a lot of others ships I’ve been on recently… Thanks for watching!
Looking forward to the rest of you QM2 vlogs. We have been considering a transatlantic with Cunard, but I am not impressed so far. For a ship that bills itself as "luxury," it seems rather dowdy.
Did you report the hairdryer to your cabin steward or other crew member, Fraser? I'm not surprised that some things look a bit dated. After all, the ship is 17 years old. I'd still like to do that trip.
Hi Joan, yeah I did report multiple things with this room. Unfortunately nothing was fixed prior to my arrival into Southampton - hopefully it’s all resolved by now, ha! I agree that it’s ok to be dated on a ship of this age, but damaged? No, no, no!
Fraser, you went the wrong way! Actually, I wonder, are Eastbound cruises cheaper than Westbound? I was onboard a fortnight ago in 5221, a Sheltered Balcony. Apart from the Balcony obviously, not a lot of difference. Slightly larger but not much.
Hi Colin! Ahh, so many have told me that - I lost the hour each day or so, rather than gain it! However, I arrived back in the U.K. with no jet lag, so a winning route in my books, haha! Thanks a lot for watching - interesting to hear your room was very similar!
Yeah, I expected the room on here to be beautiful, especially as the ship had just been refitted. Hopefully it gets a refresh in the accommodations soon!
To be really honest, I’d say the cabin - I found the ship to generally be in really good condition - she’s clearly being well looked after. Maybe I’ll need to go again to see another cabin…!!
@FraserAtSea I take your point, but the little things mount up, and for them not to respond to you telling them, dissapoints. So glad you loved the rest of the cabin and the ship. 😀
I know you don't need a functional hairdryer, but the next woman in that cabin would be very grateful if you'd report that one to your cabin steward or guest services!
Yeah, I reported to both Guest Services and my cabin Steward on day 1. Unfortunately remained unresolved by the morning of me leaving the ship - here’s hoping it’s fixed now!
@@FraserAtSea that's very concerning, given that the hairdryer nozzle looks melted, implying there could be a problem with the cabin's electrical outlets (and therefore a possible fire hazard). 😳
This is one reason why always keep my travel Ghd hairdryer in my suitcase . I hate those cheap hotel hair dryers. They take forever to dry my long thick hair.
Attention to small details seems lacking. Disappointing to see this on a Cunard ship. I’d bring these things to head of housekeeping for attention. The cabin steward doesn’t seem to care. The steward might need some more training or supervision? The sad, tired old bathrooms on QM2 are infamous. The crud on bathroom surfaces is not acceptable. I wonder when they finally plan to totally renovate every cabin on her? It’s long overdue. That will take considerable time in shipyard and a lot of $$$.
Hey, thanks for watching! I did speak with the head of housekeeping while onboard, but again nothing was fixed - sigh! I hope they’ve improved the basics onboard - such an easy way to impress!
We recently took my mum on QM2 and we both had a sheltered balcony room. We loved the ship's public areas but those rooms are really tired. They definitely need an upgrade and that hairdryer is straight from a 1980s Spanish hotel.
Pretentions to luxury? Looks very tired and uncared for. But the staff seem on the ball which can make a trip a success even with all the other flaws === I have to put the following _caveat_ or my commentary gets deleted by the YT AI Robocop: For educational and entertainment purposes only!
To be honest..if it wasn't for the royal blue bedding I could not tell this was Cunard. I don't think it is luxury but very basic. And that hairdryer is dangourous! And who puts the kettle in the closet?? No sorry..I would be disappointed to get this cabin on a Cunard ship.
Fraser, the state of this cabin is totally unacceptable. In your shoes I would’ve been up in customer relations with the broken hairdryer in my hand, with a picture of the shower line with everything and everything else that was wrong and the matter that not, and every work around the ship to take care of the cabin. Why is your English are so passive aggressive. I just don’t get it. You are paying for this cabin, you are a paying customer, you are well-known reviewer, the least they can do is get it right. The state of this cabin as it is resemble a cheap five dollar whore hotel on the outskirts of Pittsburgh. Either in my case they would’ve fixed it or I would’ve gotten off the ship. Not acceptable and shame on Cunard.
I was super disappointed, as I’d expected QM2 to feel really premium! That said, I still did find it a wonderful experience, but the rooms needs to be updated! I did complain at Guest Services, but didn’t get anywhere unfortunately.
@@FraserAtSea Fraser, don't go to the purser's desk with these problems; go to your stateroom attendant. I have been on five Cunard voyages, and in every case my stateroom attendant was always very speedy in attending to my concerns. There is absolutely no reason why you should have gone without tissues, tea bags, and a functioning clothesline. It's a good idea to inspect your room as soon as you enter it for the first time to make sure you are getting all you are supposed to get.
@@FraserAtSea This is supposedly Cunard and Cunard is supposedly not a Margaritaville-at-Sea experience. That being said, I recently did a six day M A S from Tampa Bay in a suite and the experience was absolutely lovely, top to bottom. The vibe was ethereal. I did Q M2 years past and found it just as you found it. Would never sit foot on a Cunard every again. Fraser, our own family's experience with cruising-at-sea is that Holland America is about as much of a class act as it gets in larger ships. Again, shame on Cunard. As opposed to the other cruisers here, they would have heard from my lawyer upon return. I refuse to be steamrolled by the imperious British colonial mindset steamroller. Either they can provide the service or not. Lulu du Furet Paris 16ieme
@@thomasvanantwerp728 Filthy and broken lavabo, ill-tended; broken clothesline, almost to the point of being dangerous; ad infinitum. This is either Cunard or this is a crack whorehouse in Pittsburgh, there is no happy-in-between here.
It all looks tired and dated. I don't know how they justify the pricing. The lack of resolve on Cunard their side is concerning. Normally the cabin attendant will arrange for everything to be amended when you raise concernc. I am a bit concerned about my 2026 Cunard QV cruise. I hope see is in a better state.
I wouldn’t worry - even although they didn’t resolve my issues, I found the onboard experience to be really good. I loved my time on Queen Elizabeth, which is more like QV!

Yeah, not ideal, was it?
Very nice, thanks Fraser!

I’m a Dane. I can tell you without a single thought of regret that I my Queen Mary is protected in class A. Literally 6mlion Danes have her back.

The hair dryer is a fire hazard. It obviously overheated.
Yeah, I wasn’t thrilled about this - I assumed someone must’ve left it on in the drawer at some point…
Do we say you were unlucky with that individual cabin, Fraser ? Or that Cunard's basic cabin maintenance of this Queen is woeful ? 😢
To be really honest, I’d say the cabin - I found the ship to generally be in really good condition - she’s clearly being well looked after. Maybe I’ll need to go again to see another cabin…!!
