That is pretty good for someone who likes to have it simple, and I think that it is a software really easy to understand. It is clear that the best about the Scan and Cut is the fact that it scans patterns from a patterned paper or printed image and cuts them around, not so much the software, but, Gi, I would love to have one of these, he, he!

After watching the entire video it would have been nice to see the finished cut! Not showing it makes me think it didn't work out well. For example I was interested to keep watching because I wanted to know how the 'dad' text inside the circle cut out!

does it have the slice option? I have a cricut maker 3 and the software has it. I make larger character designs
Although the software is extremely basic and annoying, I think you will find if you play with it some more there are more features eg selecting colour on trace will probably trace the inside of your design as well. Unifying your shapes in your machine before resizing would have done both at once. Holding shift while resizing in the software will keep your proportions. Just a thought, Glenda

Curious why you separated your images to resize...I think you should have welded them and then resize. ..just my opinion :-D
Also we were taught yesterday as a rule of thumb, anytime you scan in an image always weld and save..

Love your tutorial! I transformed a .jpeg into a .fcm file using image tracing, named my file, downloaded it and cut my image. Yay! How do I get the file to save to "My Projects" in Canvas?
I DO hope you FINALLY found the answer you needed!!! (Saw your request on the Brother Vid, as well. I hope I don't also end up with such frustrations using their DESIGN 'n' Cut!! Good luck in future, Char)

Just purchased my first scan n cut and its on its way. Do you know if it will cut chipboard, or foamcore? I puchased the item that comes loaded, so I should be receiving all the accoutrements. Thumbs up on your video. Do you have a vid featuring this machine, using digital images of your own artwork? I ask bcs I want to be able to extract items from my own artwork. Would love to see it done by a pro before I attempt it! Thank you for great teaching tool videos.

awesome I love the way you explain it but when you scan n cut did it cut the dad as well? If it did what if I don't want the dad to be cut what do you do then?
+Sarah Mendez I added the "Dad" text inside the shape. You don't have to do that, of course. But it was a part of the inlaid die-cutting technique I did in a follow-up video.

Jen, I have a question. I mostly want to pull images and cut from from my windows "saved" file images. I make a lot of stencils. How do I do that? I cant find anything that instructs me. Thank you.
Is brother going to make this program work with embroidery files? I do a lot of applique and that would be very helpful.

I have the design n cut and I’m trying to cut my own personal image using the tracing image option, when I’m on my laptop it doesn’t have the start cut button like the one when I’m signed in on my phone... I can select an image in canvas Workspace on my phone and send it to the machine to cut but not from my laptop
Do you think this will cut painted heavy canvas - heavier than the typical artist's canvas?

I named the file, then dowloaded the pattern that I made, but when I go trace image, says file can't be used. not sure what I'm doing wrong. the window pops up where the files are stored, it doesn't show that image I saved, so I noticed next to the file name bar window; called Cutsom files. I hit the drop down and slect all. then the pattern I made is there. but when I try to click on it to trace the image, that's when I get the (file can't be used). so somehow the canvas workspace is not saving it as a file I can use in the workspace program to be traced. so I'm confused at what to do. I just barely got this machine, feeling intimidated. I've gone through 3 days of learning the canvas workspace, and registering machine online.

Is there a cut settings like the silhouette what is it automatically know what type of material you loaded in the scan and cut
LEGENDERY STATIC You would need to purchase one of the latest Dx machines which has a blade that automatically adjusts its self for any type of material
Now is that still for the design and cut machine because I have that in is the DC 200
Hi Jenny Loved the tutorial but I am having trouble getting the text to change.I am double clicking on the box but nothing is happening.I hope you can help as I must be missing something in translation.You make it look easy everything else worked.

Highlight the word "text" and start typing over it. Hope this helps!

I scanned a paper pattern piece to cut out in vinyl....I scanned it, I saved it, but I can't seem to get it into canvas to manipulate or mirror it....HELP!!! ;) I have the 650W so I should be able to do it wirelessly....right?

Scan N Cut Canvas software is available only on the Internet. You cannot download it. When you go to finish a file and save it, you have to save it to a flash drive which then you take over to your Scan N Cut and plug that in.Hope this helps, Jenny.

Your computer is a hackers dream. NEVER have a file that says Passwords on your computer, name it literally anything vs that. :)

I tried the textboxes in Word 2010 It will not let me drag the textboxes anywhere. I want to do the middle letter larger and space the other letters accordingly. I have spent many hours trying to figure out why I can't drag textbox
Angie- you can't edit in Word. You must use the Scan N Cut CANVAS software only.
Is there any help on fonts. I am trying so despartly to make a monogram (3 letters) with center letter larger. I am so frustrated - can't get it. Is there any help on this? Thank you
What kind of help do you need? Importing new fonts? Or sizing? If you are having issues with sizing, you need to open 3 text boxes, type in one letter in each, and then move and size them to where you want them. (Obviously the one in the middle would be the larges size.) Hope that helps!
Ok i put in USB n it says USB media is not inserted. Insert USB media.....I tried 3 different USB....any ideas....I just got this in mail today thanks

I am attempting to make a multi layered pikachu for my son black yellow red, but I cant figure out how to make the file. will it seperate the colors? I am new at this and it seems very confusing.
+Kathy Lawson The scan and cut does just that, it's scans and cuts. It will not "see" layers. It will only cut outlines or lines on the inside.
Kathy Lawson Convert into SVG, then you should be able to import each color separately
You can use a program like Inkscape to do so.
Hi, I keep getting an Error ErrS90 when im trying to use SVG files to my canvas. I also use Inkscape and have tried multiple different ways. Can anybody please help?
ok so I have a question. I hope I know how to word it for it to make sense. I'm a hands on type person.. anyway when you 1st go to the scan n cut canvas, it asks if you wanna down load it to your desktop . well I do that but its literally just the canvas and is set up way different then the one you go to when your logged in and go to it from this site here that your talking about. also like the site your on, after you log in, the 1st thumbnail (so to speak) is create your own, then the thumbnails after that are all sorts of options and designs or w.e they are... well on the desktop one, it don't take you to that, like you literally only have the screen that you create your image on, the screen that has the mat on it and like I said, its not even the same mat screen as the one you get if you go to it directly from the site.. ugh I am beyond frustrated, I was so excited to get my machine but now that I got it I cant even work it besides the simple basic stuff that's already on the machine
Tiffany Hugill I think you have to get the activation card :( I know... I'm frustrated too... as my machine didn't even come with a deep blade or the tool to lift the cut out vinyl. I mean for $275 I expected the vinyl tool or whatever. But overall I'm excited for this machine.

After you did the dad and you want to do another project how do you get rid of the dad that you had and start all over with a new project
You touch the (x) on the top right of the image and it will delete it from the mat.
I have created an account, but when I log in it takes me to load the pdf pages, how do I download the software
You don't download the software at all. You use it online only.
