Metroid prime 4 isn't going to be released in 19 years.. I'd rather wait so the game is perfect just like dread was why have the game out now?
Don't worry, Sakamoto said that a sequel to Dread was already in development in the Game's Development story at the E3, and considering we don't have the limitations we had before, there's a good chance we won't have to wait for 19 or even more to get a sequel to Dread.

May I suggest you a series of videos made by Blue Shell, entitled "How Metroid creates fear"? These videos really show how each game, with their own technical limitations, create a sense of loneliness and fear. As such, you really see the technical evolution of the series!

In many ways, Samus could be considered a Mary Sue: "the best of all of us", "the most powerful in the galaxy", and so on and so forth...but what makes her tremendously relatable as a character is how much she had to suffer and sacrifice to get to that level of power.

there are like 2-3 nitpicks I hear some people have, usually 1. sound design 2. plot 3. recycled bosses near the end, but overall every metroid fan I know is ecstatic about it.

Not usually a "voice acting in Metroid" guy, but get Ian McDiarmid in an unobtrusive roll as someone in on the Federation conspiracy or something.
This is my first Metroid game and I AM IN LOVE. I've just beat the game for the first time and can't wait to do it again. You can *see* and *feel* how much passion the devs put into every single detail and aspect of this game, everything was completely thought out and thought through. I am just in awe.
You should play Metroid 1-4! Zero Mission (GBA), Samus Returns (3DS), Super Metroid (SNES), and Fusion (GBA)
Going off of the previous comment, the easiest ways to get those games are through the Wii U Virtual Console, 3DS, and Switch Online.

I am so glad you're enjoying your first venture into the Metroid world! Dread is a truly fantastically polished game, and I'm glad it was your first! I hope you get to try other great entries in the series! If possible, try Fusion, Zero Mission and Super! The gameplay might feel a bit clunky to you, especially after Dread, but you'll get even more of the extaordinarily unique atmosphere of this series!
I'd start with super Metroid after you're done with dread, it's already available on the switch.

@@007psyren it requires alot of exploration and trial and error. But it's so so so fun. I reccomend it highly. It's extremely rewarding when you do beat a part you struggled with for a bit . And the story will capture you. It's awesome!!
@@007psyren game is "hard" in the sense that you will die, but there's basically 0 penalty for death. Emmi death respawns you right outside the door, boss fight death respawns you directly outside the boss room. The bosses all took me several attempts but they were fair challenge and just required me to recognize their attacks, which was easy after seeing them so much.

@@maichu6584 Yes! I think they will with the installment in the franchise. More people are realizing how expertly Metroid games are designed. Plus Sci-fi subject matter is something everyone can appreciate. Dread is the best selling Metroid title by far so I’m almost certain they’ll work on another 2D title if they aren’t already.
@@carpediem8314 They are still working on Metroid Prime 4 right now, which is 3D. By the way, I think the next 2D Metroid game we are going to get will be on the new Nintendo's next generation console. And it will be probably a remake of Super or Fusion. Since the main series has ended in Metroid Dread.

The E.M.M.I. sound fx are starting to give me chills and I haven't even finished my second playthrough.
Theres gonna be a whole couple generations of people who hear that sound effect and get anxious, as it should be.
There was a sense of stress for me in the beginning but as I got to meet more of them and got my bearings around the game it really isn't all that scary. Being a lot younger though, I'd probably be a lot more intimidated.
I hope Dread becomes the best selling Metroid so that it shows Nintendo how much people genuinely love this franchise!
Dread is phenomenal. Surpasses even some of the best Metroid titles. Extremely worthy addition to this amazing franchise.

@@BigBrezzy Literally makes zero sense at all. The Prime series is canon but it’s not majorly connected to the 2D games outside of Proteus Ridley. Even then, what good would it have done to purposely delay Prime 4 for Dread? Zero logic.
@@BigBrezzy, it seems they didn't get enough of life from fans after announcements, so game is long dropped probably, and Dread was a very safe way to check how the fanbase reacts on new Metroid.
Buy this game people. Its soooo good. I havnt played a metroid game since the super Nintendo and not only does it live up to the nostalgia factor, its a solid modern game on its own with a great difficulty curve that makes you really feel yourself get better as you play. Its so awesome. Please go out and buy this game for yourselves, its worth every penny

This game quickly became my favorite Metroid game so far. It's the one I died in the most times out of all Metroid games, but everything about it just makes it so much fun, even after dying to any boss or E.M.M.I. more than 20 times...

yeah you have way more aiming than the 3ds one
And the fluidity in the movements is just off the roof! Speedbooster and shinespark puzzles have never been more fun!
I'd be 100% open to a DLC pack that is basically Metroid Fusion HD using Dread's gameplay as the basis.
That would be so awesome.
I think the only DLC they could reasonably give us is Fusion difficulty.
That or maybe something that randomizes the placement of missile and energy expansions
That's too much effort to be a DLC. If they do that it'd be a full new game.
But I'm 100% open to a small DLC that adds a randomizer and/or a mode that you start with the metroid suit and have to rush to get to your ship.
Funny thing you say that, because MercurySteam's original pitch to Nintendo was a Fusion remake
Super Metroid and Metroid Fusion are the two games the never got a remake. Of course, they don't need one. But If they did use the Dread engine to remake those games, I'd be very interested, especially if they can bundle it all together into one epic long journey.
Kinda funny how DLC has become the gamer word for "more". Dread doesnt have room for DLC. It's a finished game already. Anything big to add would just be a new game.
However! They should add a mode where if you own Breath of the Wild, then you can travel to Hyrule and back through some extra doors... Or at least put in an item randomiser, to take ideas from the fandom. But none of that should be DLC. Just an update.
I'm playing metroid dread, and loving every second of it. I'm just about to start a new game and fatal frame maiden of the blackwater as well. Lot of good releases recently!
I already 100% the game twice and going for a third time! The game is just too good!

Amazing controls and gameplay, masterfully crafted interconnected world, great combat that is challenging but fair and incredibly rewarding to overcome, cutscenes that makes Samus look like a complete badass, almost like a female version of doomguy, a new twist with the stealth/horror E.m.m.i sections and an interesting continuation of the story of a series that is an absolute classic. This is easily game of the year for me, I'm so happy to see Metroid back into the spotlight that it deserves

Nice! The entire series is amazing. If you can, you should play Super Metroid. Such a cool game. Or Zero Mission. And the Prime trilogy
I preordered this game when it was first available, and it surpassed all my expectations. I love 2D platformers, and even more so Metroidvania style games, so even if it was mediocre I would have enjoyed it. This ended up being one of the best games released in a long time, and game to game, is probably top of my list for Metroid games now. It's taken all the developments of the genre over the years, and incorporated them in an amazingly polished and fun to play way but in a truly Metroid fashion. It's punishing but forgiving. It ranges from easy to thumb blisteringly difficult, but nothing feels like an impossible challenge. Even the harder speed boost puzzles feel as though the solution and execution are right there at your fingertips.
Question, do you think hollow knight is better or not? I enjoyed dread but hollow knight really blew me away with the size of the whole thing. Dread felt really on rails in comparison and alot less atmosphere, that's just my opinion tho

@@emperorskulls I'd say there has been a lot of good games this year, but none of them fill the "cinematic cutscene filled game with top notch graphics" that basically GOTY always chooses.
Metroid Dread is my favorite game in most recent memory. Amidst the countless first person shooters that keep getting released, this humble slick 2-D game will have your undivided attention until you finish it. Complete with a plot twist at the end that even M.Night Shyamalan would be proud of.
10/10 Masterpiece please don't stop making Metroid games, Nintendo. This was my first Metroid game and I think I might love the formula more than Zelda or Mario. Ended up playing Zero Mission and now I love the franchise even more. It's definitely my favorite franchise now next to God of War so please don't stop making these absolute gems🙏

Can’t thank you enough at Mercury Steam for making Metroid Dread for the switch. Every single staff member wether worked on it a little or a lot, I appreciate your hard work and the game turned out to be amazing. I bought the special edition to show support to Nintendo for this franchise. Again thank you for bringing back my childhood of me playing my original gameboy advance and having a copy of Metroid fusion :)

The interactive cutscenes are so cool, especially the Kraid intro and the Corpius victory, oh my god, it's like Samus KNOWS they aren't a threat, she's just toying with them
And then there's the special melee counter opening up free missile firing with Samus getting the arm cannon right into their faces.
This might be one of the coolest promotional videos that have come out. The editing and VA are very cool and serious sounding

Fusion and Prime are excellent if you want recommendations. Other M and Samus Returns look good but I have yet to play them. I can personally speak for the others, and Prime is an experience I will not forget every little detail of. It is ingrained in my head forever.

That's what always drawn me to Samus as a character. Yes, she's the best. Yes, she's the top of the food chain. Yes, no one in the galaxy even comes close to her.
...but what does that do to a person? How do you cope with having to face eldricht abominations on a daily basis so that innocent people don't? How does it feel to know that your chance at a normal life died on K2L, that fateful day?

MAN this game was just amazing from start to finish. I love the emphasis on dread, and keeping the continuity intact is something I wish Nintendo did with more series. Really hope Metroid gets more games in the future

I see a lot of comments saying they want DLC, but outside of extra skins or another difficulty mode I don't think they could really do much to add on this game
The modern age of gamers is a depressing sight. DLC is how an unfinished game makes you continue paying for it until they're finally done. Metroid Dread is a fully finished game though. Like you say, there's no room for DLC.
Large chunks of the game were cut during development including an hour of cutscenes and boss fight with draygon

When a game that has the players opinion on it split in two won last year it was already rigged a game should have a mostly positive reaction in order to be game of the year a 50/50 split shouldn't have won
It's likely between this and ratchet and both are definitely deserving candidates. Id vote prime personally but would be happy with ratchet as well.

My very first Metroid game. I don’t think I would have enjoyed the previous ones but I sure as heck loved this one. Maybe we will get lucky and get dlc later down the road or a new game in a few years

Did the same and afterwards got the game myself today, you wont get disapointed, the rest of the game is just as good... or even better! Couldnt stop playing it till the end. 10/10 👌
