I remember playing retro bowl back when It first came out, there was no customization, only one save slot, etc. It’s cool to see how the game has come a long way since then
Yeah, back when you could only play 4 games in the free version, you only had 10 man rosters and that little change where just the helmet appeared instead of a player chile choosing th uniforms.
Man, I've been playing Retro Bowl since it came out. It's so good. On top of that, the developper actually cares about the game and continues to update it.
That moment when your player is caught in an bad altercation, and you consider to bench that player for a game for it(or even release him), only to realize you might lose without him in the lineup, was when I was like, "woah, this is a lot more immersive than almost every sports game I have ever played."
The PS2 era NCAA titles had similar mechanics, but unless you were a small school it didn’t hurt as bad on the field. Where it got you was in off-season recruiting if you got probation.
If you are a fan of Soccer (or football) and Retro Bowl, they also made a version called Retro Goal. It lets you play 10 games free before you have to purchase the full version, but it is as fun as retro bowl with the same depth.
Ngl (sorry to break the chain) I think Retro Goal is worse than Retro Bowl. Not as good plus you have to pay to play the full version unlike Retro Bowl where you can play as much as you please
@@platinumdiamond7 good sir, I do agree with this opinion. With retro bowl, you get as much depth and customization as retro goal. A similar thing happened in another save where I left a team that I had built into a dynasty for a new upstart, and losing to that same team in the next Retro Bowl
I get super attached to players. Had a reciever for 12 years won 4MVPs. Once he retired I drafted a reciever and immediately changed his name to star Jones

Retro Bowl is the game that will change football gaming when more people play it... This game is a golden egg and the fact it's a nod to techno bowl and can still be that good... ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I recommend turning on 'Extreme' mode, and downgrading your defense. It makes it so you pretty much have to score every drive to win. Bonus, turn on 2 mins per quarter for realistic football scores.

This is the best football game I've played since 05 and tecmo before that. This is the best football game period and my brother introduced me to it and I want this from Madden and you can tell that the devs actually care about this.
I made a full 32 team College Setup, with mostly accurate Uniforms and colors. Really cool and fun, and it has been a nice change of scenery with the new teams. Although, it was hard to suspend my disbelief when Illinois won the Retro Bowl over Iowa State.
I’m mad you uploaded this tonight , I have so much school work to do and I ended up wasting two hours taking the Detroit Lions to an unbeaten season and a super bowl win
The one thing I want is maybe a stats per season for your players so you can see their rookie season, ups and downs, etc., and an Award Race would be cool showing other team’s best players and how your players stack up. Also a quick nitpick is I wish their wasn’t so many ties it’s ugly looking at the standings and seeing 4+ teams in the league have a tie.

So fun to make a dynasty and actually CARE about your players and have intriguing storylines. You don’t even miss out on anything by not paying the $1. The dev works so hard to make a good game, and the discord server is so active. Been waiting for this one for a long time. So much better than madden.
Honestly, I've been noticing a trend with franchise style sports games lately. That 5 star ability/potential system is everywhere I've found. I think this game is someone attempting to make a football game with the same level of control and depth as say, OOTP Baseball or Franchise Hockey Manager. I really like that, ngl.
You probably won't see this, but last year I messaged you on Instagram telling you to check out this game. Although you never read it, I'm glad you got around to reviewing it.
Sunday Rivals got a few updates, and it's even better than when you last made a video on it. WAY bigger playbooks, spectator & coach mode, and season awards being added really have made it my favorite football game to play, and I highly recommend it to anyone who is interested in an arcade-y PC football game with tons of customization
So glad you made a video about this! I discovered Retro Bowl about a month and a half ago and it has been a blast. I'm already 13 seasons into my franchise cuz i'm a no-life.
I downloaded this game a few months ago, and I literally have a file with 27 years on it on my favorite team (Cards). Could you imagine playing Madden for fucking 27 seasons with 2 minute quarters, and only offense? I can barely make it through one. Props to the devs, this game's fun as hell
I think a cool option to add is scouting before the draft. Maybe we could track the top players and choose to play their big game, that way we know how the player can fit into your scheme
Retro bowl is such a good game. I've played it for ever since I've started watching football and I've grown with that game as a fan for about 2 years now. It is an amazing game.
Cannot stop playing this game! Have 3 save slots dedicated to my pro league with a relegation system, and just started up a typical dynasty mode based on the collegiate level. Could be even better with more immersion: injuries having an effect during the game, changing game strategy or resting players between quarters, mini game drills to level up players instead of just paying out credits, a general overview of the upcoming draft so you can adjust your roster and free agency moves accordingly, having underutilized players request more attention or trade. Would also be cool to have individual stats for teams other than your own so it actually feels like a competition.
I wouldn't say its the animations on madden, there are so many problems. First is a ragdoll doesn't belong in a football game. Second there aren't enough animations, it makes every player seem the same. Older madden games use to have that occasionally one hand grabs. I remember playing madden 08, losing to the ravens 1:37 left in the 4th ball on the 25. We were down 3. I was playing with my created team Houston Bulls. I throw it up to my main wr Johnson. I overthrew it a little but he goes up with one hand and comes down with it on the sideline with both feet in. Anyway they need more animations based off chance and style.
Playing with a controller is the very best, plus you get a yellow marker to know where the ball lands. The developer told me playing on a controller is difficult so you get a marker to help.

I was playing retro bowl when I got the notification for this video
Since no one has said it, that pasta is pronounced “no key” not whatever you said, great vid btw
Controller Support Excellent
The tone at the beginning of your videos always reminds me of the start of Cars by Gary Numan.
Good stuff, keep being awesome!
I was playing retro bowl and I ended making college teams which was amazing to see
Playing with a controller is the very best, plus you get a yellow marker to know where the ball lands. The developer told me playing on a controller is difficult so you get a marker to help.
