Great content - Joseph taught and preached against polygamy until the day he was murdered. We’ve been fed lies for decades, but the truth will always shine in the darkness.
Fantastic compilation of teachings, thank you. I am fascinated by how that unmistakable warning against what had just been proclaimed as doctrine (many wives and concubines) ended up in the Millennial Star! It seems obvious to me that some percentage of Utah Saints knew what it really was, and were trying to remind the others of correct principles so they too could discern truth. I wonder who was on the Millennial Star editorial staff, and if/what the repercussions were for publishing something so clearly “against counsel.”
My Great grandfather was Shadrach Roundy and stayed married to the only wife and remained faithful to the teachings of Joseph Smith. I was not aware of this teaching. Thank you for this truth, and your willingness to research this.
Thank you for your hard work in researching this information. Spirit wives and the United Order came from the Cochranites. Augusta Cobb was Brigham Young's second wife who is believed to be an cochranite. In 1976, Mormon prophet Spencer W. Kimball taught that the church teachers should avoid teaching false doctrine that has been taught by General Authorities of past generations, such as the Adam God Theory, the priesthood that was taken away from the blacks after Joseph Smith died and blood atonement. I am concerned about our current prophet Russell Nelson who is a member of Skull and Bones and Owl and Key. He admits it in his autobiography HEART TO HEART
its so nice to know there are people out there who have connected the dots and feel the same way as myself (and many others actually) again- unless they REPENT by CONFESSING AND FORSAKING their sins (including holding to a belief that these false doctrines were EVER even correct) then they are still in a state of Apostasy and have NO AUTHORITY. modern day ciaphas, saducess (leaders in church b/c they are wealthy) and pharisees (prominent leaders b/c of last names/ corrupt lineage- i.e. young, anderson, mckonkie, romney etc.) etc. Etc. Thanks for your videos and everyone's comments. I would like to ask if you people are witnessing to your friends and families of the apostate/corrupt state of the church/leaders/members??
Great video! No Joseph didn’t practice what he preached against! He had revealed to him 4 revelations in the D&C stating one man and one wife. He translated the B of M. Jacob says in chapters 1,2, and 3 , plural wives and concubines are a “wicked practice “, “an abomination”, and “whoredoms”, and does it with a “thus saith the Lord”! He also says that their father, Lehi, taught this truth! In Chapter 3 it states that the Lamanites will be saved from destruction for the sole reason that they practice one husband loving his one wife, and she loves him, and they love their children! And all the other scriptures - on man one wife! And then there’s section 132 - a complete fraud! Do some research people
Joseph and Emma taught the Isaiah 4:1 celestial lifestyle aka the Way. Joseph was plagued with opium addiction due to childhood use of morphine based home remedies. Hyrum was possibly the father of Joseph’s children. On the frontier if a patriarch died the oldest son was used to keep the mother bred. Children were the capital asset most required.
He said it was an excerpt from Joseph Smith history that the editor was showcasing in this edition of the Millennial Star. It says at the end of the article that it’s history of Joseph Smith.
I'm grateful for the information that has been coming out which exonerates Joseph and Hyrum from polygamy. Although it's been somewhat of a painful realization in view of what I was taught , it is liberating to realize the Joseph Smith was great prophet I've always believed him to be.
Great video! I just discovered your channel, so I'll explore your other videos after this. One little thing I disagree with was the part near the end, when you said that the church has said that the priesthood ban was wrong. I have never heard any church leader say that. I have, however, heard them say we don't know why God didn't allow blacks to have the priesthood for a time, but He definitely didn't, and then He allowed it in 1978, so it's all good now. It's the same with polygamy. The church still teaches that it *was* commanded by God for a time, but now the commandment is different, rather than the truth that it was always evil from the start. The church leaders must repent of their dishonesty and of the false teachings of the past by *confessing* the reality of those falsehoods, and *forsaking* the belief that they were ever commandments from God. They don't want to do this, of course, because it will also reveal that John Taylor and Willard Richards murdered Joseph and Hyrum Smith, and that the priesthood keys were lost with Joseph's and Hyrum's deaths, meaning the modern LDS church is in a state of apostasy. But until they admit this, the church will remain under condemnation, and will continue to fail in its progress.
Forget the part of my comment above where I said I just discovered your channel. I must have really bad memory, because apparently I have watched several of your videos before. Why didn't I subscribe back then? Maybe I did, and UA-cam unsubscribed me. Anyway, I'm (re)subscribing now!
Uuuhh... I feel like I was reading one of my very own comments and then I stead it was yours heheheh. Thanks for your post.
I usually agree with your research and I went into this video willing to change what I understand if the evidence led me there. I completely agree that "wife sharing" and listing after another man's wife is against God's law. He even told us if we just after another man's wife we have already committed adultery in our heart. In Jacob it's interesting because on a surface read it does seem to say that having many wives and concubines is wrong. I couldn't help but notice though that Jacob was telling them they couldn't do it anymore because they were already committing adultery and whoredoms outside of their families and because of that they were wicked. I have been especially focused on this for about 4 years because I am really trying to find the truth. If it is marriage as God set it up with Adam and Eve where the man loves his wife (takes care of her, is faithful to their covenants) and she is cleaving to him (helps him, is faithful to their covenants) then how is doing it twice different? There are so many examples of multiple wives with righteous men as well. I listened carefully to what you said and the parts that Joseph Smith condemned were clearly sin on top of having multiple wives. I'm not sure if I am explaining my thoughts well but I hope you can see i am trying to seek truth- not justify my own lusts.
I think the issue Jacob brings up is don't justify this practice because of things you find in the scriptures. The church does this so much with polygamy. "Well, Abraham did it and he was righteous so it must be okay" For me, I have found 2 ways to explain Abraham's story. 1) God never commanded Abram to take another wife. It happened due to Sarah's lack of faith. Then we see the fruits of it causing a rift in their family dynamic. In order to repent, God commanded Abram to separate from Hagar. It was after this repentance that God then made covenant with Abraham and gave him a new name. 2) Also in Galatians 4:22-25 Paul teaches us about Abraham and Hagar, "which things are an allegory". Sarah and Hagar represent 2 different covenants with God. So perhaps this story didn't happen in real life, it's an allegory or we shouldn't understand these stories in their literal sense. When we do, we come up with a lot of bad doctrine and commandments that seem to contradict. Like Thou shalt not kill, but go kill all those canaanites. Which may be what Jacob was alluding to. The Nephites were taking David and Solomons stories of multiple wives literally and Jacob tells them you are doing this because you don't understand how the scriptures are to be interpreted. Anyways my 2 cents if it helps.
Nope... Joseph fought polygamy He died because men in the Church wanted to take over and he and Hyrum both said that any person teaching this doctrine would be excommunicated.

Where does it say you can? Section 132 was written well after Joseph's death. This is easily proved through diligent unbiased research. If you read the surrounding verses from the great prophet Jacob's words in chapter 2:30, it's easy to see what he really meant. Taking one verse out of context doesn't disannual the clear message from the surrounding verses. But sure, we can believe whatever we want, and we can twist meanings within our language if we desire it. It's set up that way.
It's all throughout scripture! God's law of marriage is one man to one wife so they can cleave unto one another and be twain and let no man put asunder. It's easy to study this out for yourself. Start with D&C 42:22-25 There was an earlier marriage law in D&C in Joseph's time which clearly stated polygamy was wrong. It was section 101 and you can find it in the Joseph Smith papers.
