This is the first adventure game of Lucasfilm, the studio that created the most iconic and legendary adventure games of all time. The game itself is simple but at the same time quite frustrating and messy. There are no hints of what you have to do, you just go on solving puzzles and see where the game leads you. The problem is that it is diffucult to explain to someone who hasn't played the game why you do some thing that seem illogical. I tried to solve the puzzles in the most logic way but sometimes it's hopeless. Still, a great game though a little creepy. Who doesn't like that?
The Maniac Mansion Deluxe is a fan made game that I played for completion purposes. I included all kids in a single video and I hope it's not much frustrating. I show only the parts where there are differences between the kids. Extra deaths and fails included at the end of the video. -

Can't play this without the soundtrack. It was such a massive part of the experience.
After watching nine (9) Longplays of this game, I have a lot of questions.
Why does Nurse Edna disappear after chasing you out of the kitchen?
How does Green Tentacle eat and drink?
How does Purple Tentacle enter the basement from the opposite direction he should?
How does one touch the glowing key and fill the jar with radioactive water without getting a lethal dose of radiation?
Why is Jeff the only one besides Dave who can't come up with a way to get past Purple Tentacle?
And finally: Why does no one think to use the hamster on the cage to put it back, or the cold Pepsi on the Meteor?
Also, since this game takes place in late fall 1987, that Elvis stamp shouldn't exist, since they weren't a thing until 1993.
The hidden feature of Jeff is that he can fix the phone. That's what I like about this game, full of surprises and bad leads meant to trick you.

Maniac Mansion Deluxe is a very good remake. However, it would be superb a talkie version of it.
Maybe some MM fans could put a talkie together someday...
That would be awesome. Also, the ability to play it in SCUMMVM.

@@terrorbyte5352 Id say no for one reason and one reason alone... They wouldn't even TRY to capture the feel of how people talked in the 80s and would try to make it to "modern". Doesn't need em, just sound effects, some good music and the crickets chirping :). How it should be.

Old comment but I thought this should be put here for if anyone reads. It's actually pretty meh, the voice acting is... terrible which can kind of be forgiven, but what can't is they changed the entire feel of the game. Maniac Mansion was an 80s spoof of the horror genre, that fan game actually tried to make it spooky by putting jumpscares and atmospheric music in it. In doing so, it just made it seem terriblly cheap and the modders look like they didnt know what they were doing. They also censored the boobies and hamster so no, terrible game XD lol
I don´t understand why the didn´t use the NES port soundtrack...

How do you get the deluxe version on the steam deck to run ?
That’s a good question! I bought an OLED 1TB SteamDeck and I bought the original on Steam. I didn’t see the Deluxe version available to me.

I guess long play means newbie play? This is the worst play through I have ever seen. So many wasted commands.
The longest, most unorganized, walk through ever. The best watching of this would be if someone for the first time seeing it did different clips of what they saw, learned, and put together to defeat the game. Certainly there are a lot of lots shorter walk through's. Have to give this a "thumbs down".
