- Hey!
This video talks about how to do contemplative riyaaz where we as part of learning a vocal exercise connect and associate the notes to a song that we would like to sing.
Guruji has always stressed on thinking about notes outside of our riyaaz sessions and this is a very powerful tool to build on in order to enhance our singing.
It explores our thought process and how that helps us develop as a singer. In the video, we learn the nuances of a simple song -
🎶 " Ek pyaar ka nagma hai " 🎶
We discuss how we arrived at that song by thinking about the violin that plays in the song and how to work out the nuances of a song.

Thank you so much for your support 🙏
Mesmerizing! I play this tune on the keyboard Poojaji on D Major, but this class was so enlightening with the nuances of the song, the meend, the khatka, the landing of the note. Today is Guru poornima. Patkiji has been my online Guru for a few yrs now. Ur my Musical Guru now. :) Someday, I may join ur classes, until then vl learn from u thru' ur vids. It is for Granted, how a student wishes the very best in life for their teacher. Wishing the very best to you in life. :)
@@Mishtiman Thank you so much🙏 You are too kind ☺️ Wishing you all the success in your musical journey. God bless.
Really nice lesson. I always believed that true guru always demonstrates, that is how you engage students and make the concepts clear. Since you are using popular old songs to teach, I'd really appreciate if you could also touch upon the elements of western music (like harmony and chord progressions) used in the song.
Thank you for subscribing to my channel. The primary focus of this channel is to bring the teachings of my Guruji Pt Sanjay Patki to the audience who does not understand Hindi. I believe a strong foundation of a classical base helps us understand nuances of Hindi film songs. While I do understand chord progressions being a pianist and learner of western classical music, the goal of this channel is to bring forth love and appreciation of notes and ornamentation (meend, gamak) and develop a culture of building a strong classical foundation through alankars, paltas and learning ragas. Hope that answered your question.
Bravo! What a talent mam.. 👌
Thank you! Cheers!
Really really good 😊

Hi,Pooja I am carnatic vocal Music teacher. I didn't learn any instrument. Struggling to identify the swaras and raagas of any song. Can you identify the swaras with out any instrument? Can you identify the raagas of any song? For example if I give you a kriti in carnatic music can you identify the swaras and raagam of that particular kriti?
Learning how to decode the notes without any instrument takes years and years of practice. I'm at a stage where I can decipher the notations by listening to it with the support of the harmonium/tanpura. You have to first begin by figuring out the sa of the song/ bandish in case of raags. Then you figure out the rest of the notes. Hope that answers your question.
@@SwarPooja Thank you. Is keyboard useful to identify the swaras, raagas .I want to buy keyboard and learn. Actually I want to buy Veena and learn.but many suggested to learn keyboard first.
@@suvarchalak3639 Keyboard will work as there is not much of a learning curve as opposed to the Veena which will take time to master. The knowledge of swaras recognition of the sound and frequency increases when we spend time with ear training. We need to bring all our attention to the notes and how they sound while we practice our basic paltas and alankars. Hope that answered your question. Thanks :)
@@SwarPooja Thankyou so much

Can you please stop talking in fake English? It just ruins your personality. You have an Indian heart, emotional touch & spirit reflecting in your singing. If you insist on speaking in English, stop the Western accent and speak plain normalized Indian English. I am just your innocent fan. Forgive me if my words may hurt you.
@@sunilbidri Dear fan,
I was born and brought up in the US. So this is the way I speak. The sole purpose of my channel is to bring my Guruji Shri Pandit Sanjay Patkiji's content to people who do not understand Hindi and are Indian but live abroad to share my passion for singing with like minded people. It is my mission and responsibility to do this for my Guruji as his shishya and not my profession. Thank you for watching.
@@SwarPooja Great.. now that you've been born & brought up in the US, and have great musical skills, I am quite certain you can teach us an English song too... Won't you be kind enough to teach us an English song in simple sa re ga ma..notations? Or, at least just sing us a song in plain American English? Cheers.
