Save yourself a *lot* of time and stop at 2:00 and skip to 7:04. The entire tub assembly is attached with springs, so just tilt and you'll have access to the suspension pads. At least on my model, there was absolutely no need to go through disassembling the entire thing as described in this video.

I was able to do the same. No need to disassemble it all the way

This video has helped me out tremendously. I’ve had to change the suspension pads on my machine twice over the years. And this video has guided me on exactly how to make the fix. Thanks!!!

I have a 2007 Kenmore 800 washing machine that looks almost exactly like the one in the video. It was vibrating a ton and very noisy during spin cycle. I found that the rear lower suspension pad (285744) had worn out. There was a little of the pad left, but metal had clearly been scraping directly on metal as there was a pile of metal dust on the floor just below the rear suspension pad. I decided to replace all 3 suspension springs, the counterbalance spring, and both sets of 3 suspension pads (285744 and 285219). I moved my drier out of the way, then removed only the body on the washing machine to get access, skipping most of the disassembly in this video, which seems fraught with pitfalls. With some awkwardness and difficulty I was able to replace all the parts. Once the springs are removed, it is fairly easy to move the tub around to get clearance for removing and installing the pads. The filler spout gets in the way a little. Wood shims and/or a helper can make it easier. I didn't need any special tools, just gloves, pliers, putty knife, screwdriver, and $40 in parts. The 285219 pads were the most difficult to install but I was successful and my machine doesn't vibrate anymore.

many thanks atallguynh. I replaced springs from below yday & was going to attempt this. BTW others wanting to replace the springs from below, if you can't put the spring back on the bracket at the outer edge of the tub, loosen and tilt the bracket or just remove it, hook the spring onto it and tighten/reinstall the bracket. Also if you replace a broken spring with a missing end, buy the wire holder that the spring clips on as it is likely worn through too.

Need help... I did the cliutch repair on a LSR7010pq1. The center shaft was corroded and would not come out. Took a lot of effort, hammering and time but I got it out. I removed the inner spin basket thinking it would help me get the shaft out. Wrong.
The drive block is stuck in the basket and no amount of hammering with a 4lb mallet will set it free. Replaced clutch and reassembled without issue. The drive block was very difficult to tighten and get it to lock on the shaft. But I got it tight. Now when empty, Low spin is fine but in high spin it goes violently out of balance.
I checked the suspension components and they are all in tact. The Spin basket remained attached to the shaft after several tests.
Not sure what went wrong. I think it is related to the drive block or the basket. What confuses me is that it is fine on low spin.
I am going to run it without the Spin basket to see what happens.
Any Ideas what my problem is ?

Is it a Whirlpool? Mine is 20 years old, spins out of control. I am going to order the balance tension spring and C if that's the problem. I do not hear metal to metal grinding, so I think the pads R good.

I don't have a spanner wrench......can I use something else to overcome that problem?

You can try replacement without removing the whole tub, by unhooking rear spring, and then shifting tub back and forth as needed, while replacing each tab. I used a hammer handle to keep tub lifted while replacing tabs

what are those dangly bits in that have rods in the plastic containers dangling underneath the suspension. Is it for static? Do they connect anywhere particular?

    • @appliancepartspros
      @appliancepartspros  8 років тому

They are shipping pins that the manufacturer installed at the factory. You can take them out or leave them, they serve no purpose once the machine has been installed.

It doesn't worth the pain to replace those parts, buy their parts, and get involve in so many troubles with those people to change the wrong parts they send you. Better buy a new one. I just bought a new washer for $700, brand new with one year warranty from the store, free shipping and installed. ten years warranty from company: Of course, not the same Brand. I tried to repair this Kenmore 600S and I just spend $240 plus all the pain to replace this and now the part is a wrong one, so tried to figure out HOW MUCH TROUBLE FOR WHAT?

+AppliancePartsPros Where does one find a spanner wrench? To purchase one for a one time use isn't practical.

The spanner wrench is not very expensive compared to some of the other specialized tools. You can see it on our website, part number: AP4503397

It is easier if you simply unhook back spring, and then move tub up as you replace each pad

Warning: If your old pads are Brown in color. If you order parts you most likely will receive White pads. The White pads do not fit properly in my 2002 machine, maybe yours different. They don't snap in place like the older Brown parts. I have ordered from 4 different vendors, some pictured the Brown pads but shipped White pads. None of the 12 sets fit. It's a good chance you will never find the Brown pads again. I am going to try to figure out how to *HACK* the white pads so they stay flush to the base frame. Maybe if I glue and clamp the White parts to the frame they will stay attached. God I hate Chinese junk.
You can even see at 7:54 that the white pads do not snap fully into the holes. You can try this yourself by putting the old pads back in. My 2002 pads (brown) snap back in tight and secure perfectly.
Also don't pry the old pads out using screw driver, you will break them. Use a punch or something blunt and tap them out from behind.
Finally, not sure I would replace the brown pads unless they show excessive wear. Mine looked perfect but I cracked one removing with screwdriver (don't use screw driver).

They are meant to be white. If they are brown is because they are really old
