Much respect for trying something new. Metallica was the biggest band in the world back in the 90s (arguably still are). 1.6 million in attendance my friend. Yes 1.6 million. Rock on!
Dam!
Saw them in LA about 3yrs ago and they sold out the Rose Bowl. 80,000+. It was insane.
Yeah they were up there with AC/DC
These people weren’t allowed to listen to this music. They have no idea what they’re saying, just happy to have freedom. Metallica is the top of the food chain.
I'm a hip hop head and Metillica's catalogue if legit AF. I like almost every single song they've ever done.
Thor you say?! They did do a album called Ride the lightning.
James Hetfield is as badass as Thor!!
@@metalmellie4371 Way to skinny, like the Hollywood Thor. Thor is a huge fat guy.
The modern Thor just looks gay.
I knew it!! ⚡️
@@Tommysimonsen I said He was as badass as him. Everyone has the same perception just like this reactor. No comic book nerds here, sorry.
🤣oh shit
James Hetfield is not a mythological god. He is a real God. God of Downpicking :)
god of yeah!!
@@Eurk88 and the Suckaaa!!!
On that performance:

Drums: Lars Urlich
Lead guitar: Kirk Hammett

Godly Performance... Back to the Grind!!!
Ima need ya to get on some RTJ or some solo El-P.....
Straight refreshing your damn channel for that next Immortal Tech reaction.

Back to the Front!
This is a song about nightmares. Try Creeping Death from the same show. Now that's a deep song straight from the bible. Yes Fade to Black! Excellent song.
I grew up pretty much only on Hip Hop and Soul music. But these guys right here? Unbelievable music my dude. The song "One" is their Magnus Opus in my humble opinion. Studio version before video for the instrumental experience.
With headphones.
They stopped counting at 1.6
million and just let everyone in.
Russia, their 1st rock concert -
The party had censored their music.
All of the soldiers & helicopters
to contain the crowd.
Please react to "Sad But True"
This makes today’s sold out stadiums look like child’s play. The next time someone tells you the crowd was huge, just laugh and tell them 1.6 million for Metallica back in 1991.
Fax
And tell them it was free too🤦♂️
And acdc headlined plus 2 other big metal bands & a huge Russian metal band
It’s cool to see you react when you don’t know what your about to get. Great reaction 💜
Loved it
Don't forget the Bass God Jason Newsted with his BADASS windmills!!
Never thought I’d see the day of my favorite reactor doing metallica! Usually it’s better to listen to studio versions rather than live versions because live videos tend to drown out the notes and you can’t hear it well. But I’m proud of you for dipping your toes into metal and giving it a chance! Rage and linkin park is rap metal, but this my friend is just straight up metal you’re listening to.
Gotta do metallica- one
And will do more soon!!
James Hetfield is the lead singer. You should definitely do more Metallica. Any song off And Justice for All or Master of Puppets is good.
Welcome to the best band ever 🔥🔥🔥🤘🤘🤘
"One" by Metallica.... music video version.... you like it..
Lyrics not the video
Grammy version is the best
This version doesn’t have the movie clips.

This show was the first taste of freedom for millions of people. You should check out Domination from Pantera at this concert. It's epic.
This reaction made my day! Thank you @ MichelleShow ..... i was dying at the THOR reference lol
Yea this was lit ⚡️
A lot of great metal bands that sound amazing live 🔥
Thank you ! They are sooo iconic. Thank you to propose to us some new perspectives and discover new styles ! 😁
If you want to be shocked, check out Jinjer "Pisces" - Live session and don't do any research before hand. All you need to know is it's a Ukrainian band. Like the song or not, I guarantee you'll be shocked.
Lol. It's funny that I'm reading the comments to see what everyone says about this incredible show and see someone talk about Jinjer. My girlfriend and mom got my girlfriend and I VIP tickets to see them in November. It's gonna be insane!
@@silentjay-cy8ye Damn..lucky you. lol. Unfortunately they're sold out in Portland...again😕
@@majakian I just saw Like Moths To Flames, ERRA, Fit For A King and August Burns Red a couple weeks back. That may have been one of my favorite shows of all the shows I've been to.

They are considered Metal. This band have awsome songs with lyrics that will make anyone think. This is real music 🎶!
Yes man, great video!!!👍👍
Love your concept, unique in your visual, love it & enjoy metallica, you got a new sub, keep it up!🤘!
This was the "Monsters of Rock" music festival. Metallica played along with about 5 other bands. The total attendance was 1.6 million for the entire festival and most estimates have this crowd at about 500 thousand for when Metallica performed.
This particular concert had 1.6 million fans attending
Best reaction to this event !💯💯. This should not get any dislikes
This was a significant moment in history.... 1.6 million people came from all over the world (notice all the flags flying in the crowd from diff. countries) to the "Monsters of Rock Concert". This was the end of Communism, the end of the Soviet Union(Russia was now just "Russia"), the Berlin Wall came down and with it..... the end of the VERY real threat of Nuclear War. This whole concert was an epic moment in history as the entire world was able to celebrate the END of the "COLD WAR" and the Russian people could enjoy Rock Music "freely" for the first time with the rest of the world. Peace....
1.6 million people. singer James hetfield, guitarist Kirk Hammett, drummer Lars Ulrich, bassist Jason newsted!! It was in Moscow Russia!!
Considering one of their albums is called ride the lightning, it’s not hard to see why someone would mistake them for Norse gods. But nope, Metallica are gods of Metal Music. React to Call of Ktulu next, it’s an instrumental masterpiece.
I've seen Matalica twice in Orange County in my 20's which was early 2000's IT WAS LIT BUT NOTHING EVEN CLOSE TO THAT MUCH ENERGY! DAMN IM SURPRISED THEY DIDNT OPEN UP a PORTAL 🎸🔥🎸🔥🎸🔥🎸🔥🎸🔥🎸🔥🎸🔥
Metallica - Master of puppets live in Seattle 1989
I was at that show. I was 15 years old. I cant believe 30 years later and its still being talked about. Pretty amazing.
I second that. And The Thing That Should Not Be
Dude, the lead singer is James Hetfeld, I can see why you keep calling him Thor, Chris Hemsworth because of the long blonde hair.
good point... i've never seen this many people gathered in one place before.. historic.. btw, your camera shader is pretty damn cool
Hello from Cody Wyoming! you're awesome keep it up🤠
Real real nice reaction!! Thanks
i was 21 at the time. today ppl need to see this. its called freedom & fun
metallica gods. i started being a fan in 1997. cant believe metallica turns 40 this year.
That opening was an Ennio Morricone song, "The Ecstacy of Gold," from the film "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly." It's been sampled all over the place.
Watch them do creeping death same concert its mind blowing 💯💯💯
You crack me up 😂 Thor! Great reaction 💜
So to give you the background of the band:
Lead singer and rhythm guitar: James Hetfield
Lead guitar: Kirk Hammett (his mother was Filipino which might explain the smooth face you were talking about)
Drums: Lars Ulrich (you'll see the Danish flag on his drum kit at concerts since he's originally from Denmark)
Bass guitar: in this video, it's Jason Newsted, but Metallica has had a few bass players. Originally it was Cliff Burton until he died in a bus crash in Sweden, then Newsted took over for a while. Then for the past 18 years or so it has been Roberto Trujilo on the bass.
If you wanted to see a good video of the current lineup with Trujilo, I'd suggest either For Whom The Bell Tolls or Disposable Heroes from their live in Mexico City concert
There were over 1.6 million people at this concert! This is one of the biggest concerts ever done.
Legend has it, folks are still making their way off the airfield.
Ecasty of Gold(1966 from the movie The Good the Bad and the Ugly) is the song in the beginning. Metallica has opened every concert since 1983 with it.
Great reaction! Fade to Black is definitely a great song to react to.
this is so fun to watch. Watching folks listen to Enter Sandman for the first time and just grin like idiots. It's just FUN music. makes you smile every time.
React to Korn - Falling Away From Me Live at Rock Am Ring 2006. Probably one of the craziest crowds I've seen at any concert ever.
Metallica always start their live shows with "The ecstasy of gold" by Ennio Morricone :) It was also used in the film "The good, the bad and the ugly".
You should also check out Master Of Puppets, For Whom The Bell Tolls (live at Day on the green) - that one has their legendary bass player Cliff Burton who died in a tour bus crash in 1986 :( Also check out his bass solo Anasthesia (pulling teeth)...Creeping Death from this Moscow show is amazing! There's a *lot* of Metallica to check out lol
Oh, and check out the video for "One", it's creepy and so well done...it was their first ever video for a song...after 4 albums!
I do so love to hear you rhapsodise on all things Metallica. It's a joy to behold.
Alien 👽 son :
Father, what is a “Rock Star”
👽Father
Watch this video son,
It’s uncle Thor!
😆
That intro track you recognized is called "The Ecstasy of Gold" by Ennio Morricone from the soundtrack to the movie "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly". James Hetfield (singer) is a huge Clint Eastwood fan and the band has used that track as the intro to all their live concerts since 1983.
And yes, at this point, Metallica are literal gods, arguably the biggest and most known band in rock.
Been listening to them for decades man! I'm a metal g.mom...lol. You'll find that Metallica fans are loyal, and love watching people realize what they have been missing. Continue the ride my friend, youou won't be disappointed. Please try to know the meanings of their music, it's deep! New subscriber
More coming soon
This was during the fall of the Iron curtain & the end of USSR's communist regime over eastern Europe. Prior to this time, most of western music was outlawed. So for many of these people, it was their first time hearing this type of music other than what they could get on the black market or heard on underground radio. Metallica was part of this music festival called Monsters of Rock. Pantera & AC/DC were part of it also. It took place in September of that year at Tushino Airfield, a former site of Soviet military exercises. I got this concert on DVD for my husband for his last b-day... Another great song by Metallica (same concert) is "Creeping Death" - crazy high energy & Kirk's guitar skills are beyond human. Many other UA-camrs have reacted to that one. It's a must see! I was living in Germany (US Army base- Karlsruhe) at the time of this concert. I think I actually heard all those Russians chanting "DIE! DIE! DIE!" with James Hetfield during the brief interlude of Creeping Death - LOL!
Just an FYI, Metallica is considered to be one of, if not THE, best & biggest heavy metal band...They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of fame in 2009. They've been at it for 40 years & they're still performing... Well, not now thanks to the pandemic, but they are still making music. Metallica & their groundbreaking music was the inspiration for many younger bands like RATM, who came along about 10 years after. Enter Sandman was a big crossover hit & brought them into the mainstream audience. Their best stuff came from the early days. They're genius lyrics coupled with amazing musical skills, tackled many important social issues- drug addiction/alcoholism, depression/suicide, anti war/pro military, etc. Please check out some early hits like Master of puppets, Fade to Black, One, Nothing else matters... Each band member is a master of his craft. I think you will enjoy the journey down this rabbit hole of discovery. :-)
Congrats on the 8k
Preciate it !
Queen -Bohemian Rhapsody... Literally best song Ever
Their intro song is Ennio Morricone`s Extasy Of Gold and it was the soundtrack of the legendary western movie The Good, The Bad and The Ugly. The Hip Hop versions of that song are Ice-T`s Exodus. Jay-Z`s Blueprint 2. and Immortal Technique`s Land Of The Gun. All of them are great songs in my opinion. Metallica is using the song as their intro since 1983.
This was the "Monsters of Rock" tour and it was held at the Tushino Airfield base in Moscow in 1991. Two years after the Cold War was offically declared over and ther ewas Peace betweenthe U.S. and Russia. Two years after the "Iron Curtain" fell.
This was a FREE concert
Estimates have the attendence ranging from 1.6 million - 3.5 million, however in an interview with Metallica Drummer Lars, he says it was around 600 thousand.
Still though... HUGE Crowd!!
Bands that preformed there were:
AC/DC - Headliners
Metallica
Pantera
The Black Crowes
E.S.T.
Fade to Black is one of my favorites, you will not regret it
They had 500,000.00 Tickets & once those were gone people kept coming & were let in. The gate people quit counting at 1.6 Million . The final estimate was 2-3 Million in attendance , the final estimate was based on the fact that people kept coming in droves & the concert was a 3 day event .
There's a lot of "hip hop fans react to metal" type of reaction videos and it's almost always positive, especially with Metallica and the studio versions are amazing music, of course live is impressive but Metal live recording is always messy, And of course you heard that song it's everywhere.
Get in the Metallica rabbit hole, i'm sure you'll like it and you'll definitely expand your fan base.
"Metallica - One" is where most people start.
They stopped COUNTING at 1.6 Million. Estimates are 2.5 Million. This was Russia's first open air free concert after the fall of the Soviet Union in 1992. Western Heavy Metal was banned in Russia prior to this. 55 people died. The USSR Military served as Crowd Control and the helicopters were military as well as providing moving air for the crowd. Historic concert for Metallica and AC/DC. I enjoyed your reaction. ❤
Do the songs One, and Creeping Death, and Master of Puppets from their Seattle 1989 show. One of their best performances besides this one in Moscow.
Oh shit! That made me laugh my ass off. Gods!!!
1.6 million this one of the biggest shows ever my guy.
Brother if you haven't done more of these guys yet you really should. Would love to see your thoughts on ~ One. Awesome content ~ thanks for the entertainment from NC!
James Hetfield isn't Thor, but he'll call some lightning anyway. Enter Sandman, in my opinion, is *the* song to open your set with...crowd energy is coming up, and you hit them with that driving bass straight off the blocks.
The helicopters are actually crossing above the crowd to force air to move around, as authorities were afraid so many people packed in so close would actually use up all the oxygen and the people in the middle would die - and 50-some people did, of various causes. This Monsters of Rock concert featured 4 big-time bands, and was held on an airfield, there wasn't anywhere else. It took place between the fall of the Berlin Wall and the fall of the Soviet Union, so for most Muscovites, this was their first chance to openly embrace anything Western. Hetfield remembers the Army guards were just abandoning their security posts and joining the crowd. He also says he doesn't even realize how much, if anything, they were ever actually paid.
1.6 Million people....and this is only 3rd on the all time list of crowds at an open air concert. #1 is Rod Stewart at Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil with a crowd of 3.5 Million in 1994. #2 was Jean Michel Jarre in 1997 also in Russia, like that Metallica show, with 3.5 Million.
Jay Z sampled that intro.
The opening “The Ecstasy Of Gold”
is actually from a famous movie “The Good The Bad and The Ugly”
Which you must, now watch.
It’s been used- countless times
It’s a masterpiece
The composer, Ennio Morricone, is a LEGEND, and did the music for most of Clint Eastwood’s earlier film career.
The master,
Sergio Leone, directed -
1.6 mill in the crowed. It`s from a Russian festival, 4 US bands, Metallica, Pantera, and some others I cant think of. Black crows, maybe
Try Pantera Domination live, it will be from the same festival.
AC/DC were headlining
Fade to black is dope! I think yoiu gonna like it! It makes me happy as hell to see you checking out Metallica! They are so damn good, it's ridiculous..... You gonna see what I mean if you go down the rabbithole!
The "metalheads" tend to think Metallica is soft, cause especially their later music is very melodic. On the other hand, that's probably why so many people, including myself, love them... If you wanna check out something from their earlier albums I HIGHLY recommend "Master of puppets" . Epic!
Love you buddy.
Dude you gotta do creeping death same show its even better.
I’ll check em out
@@MichelleShow creeping death is a song by mettalica same show live in moscow. 🤙
@@buzzaldrin6985 goes to show how much some proclaimed fans actually know about Metallica
Up until this concert, heavy metal was banned until the wall came down. The amount of fans who came proves the power of bootleg tapes in Russia pre 1991.😁
This was just after the fall of the Berlin wall. These Russian people had never seen live music
JayZ used it. That first instrumental is from an old western movie called The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.
Got u
You should do Fade to Black from this concert. It's A-M-A-Z-I-N-G the version they do from this concert!!! Also Harvester of Sorrow from this same concert is sooo badass! If you really want to see what they do best!
they are called metall gods for a reason
Saw Metallica live. Great band. Think they were at their best before Cliff Burton died. Orion is their magnum opus
I will never unsee the Thor reference. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
dopee
you have me laughin hard af @thor lol I saw them last in 2019 in March and they still put on the best live metal show, i've seen many over the yrs but they're still the kings... that was in Moscow at the fall of the Berlin wall, first metal show allowed in Russia, that concert has historical significance 🤘🏻🤘🏻 #MFF
LOL....7:13 into it, and he FINALLY notices the crowd size.
1.6 million at the event. Someone said Germany sent troops to defeat Russian but failed then America sent Metallica in 1991 and concurred. (Gotta find their name to credit). Shook😲tho....
Dude, watch the VH1 Behind The Music on Metallica. Make some popcorn, crack open a beer and settle in for an amazing story. You will fully understand why Metallica is a legend and why their music has endured for 40 years. Metallica was still touring in 2017. Damn dude!
If you wanna do Fade to Black do the studio version, its amazing!!
I would say your a top 5 reactor.
Preciate that
Not only will you never dislike anything from Metallica or Pink Floyd (two very different but elite bands) but you'll never get blocked or demonetized by either. 'Floyd hasta happen. I recommend starting with the "Time" lyric video, by Pink Floyd. For Metallica, a lyric video of their song "Master of Puppets" is the best place to start, though "Fade To Black" ain't a bad option either.
Need some more Locksmith my man, you should check out either of his Kay Slay or Sway freestyles, they're all insane.
They stopped counting at 1.6 million people. 56 people died. This was a free concert as it was the first concert in the former Soviet Union since the end of the Cold War and Berlin Wall that finally allowed western music. It truly was an historical event and looks like crowd was happily celebrating their freedom.
Amazing reaction! Next: FADE TO BLACK live SEATTLE IN 89 ☝️
I like your edit with Thor!!
Best rock or hard rock or metal band ever
Tickets were about $30 in 1991

Where you comment on the crowd-
The military chopper is under 75’?
Over a crowd of 1.6 MILLION.
It’s surreal
You have to do rage at Woodstock. See that crowd.
