100% agree about this camera slowing you down, but FOR THE BETTER! I have the exact same set up and I really love how it forces you to be more intentional with your choices, really learn your camera instead of doing the ol' spray and pray.
This is why I am not upgrading anytime soon. The 50sii is more than capable medium format camera for me . I have it paired with the GF 45mm 2.8 and GF 80mm 1.7. Great work you done.
Thanks for sharing! I own the 50R but I'm really leaning towards selling / trading for the 50s II. I just subscribed; looking forward to future content from you.
I love this combo, I have GF45-100 as well but constantly switching it for Mitakon 65 :) It is so good to slow down and have time to think on every frame.
So I shoot the GFX 100 II with the Mitakon 65mm. It's an amazing combo. The colors & tonality in your samples photos below me away (see 0:27, 0:32 in particular). I swear I never ask this, but what color profiles/film simulations are you using? Are you using the in-camera film simulations or a third-party color profile? Any detail would be much appreciated.
Great question! So I edit them all RAW. And sometimes I’ll use the The Archetype Process Profiles on Photoshop. But my main process is in Photoshop which has the “selective color tool” that I always use as well as the color calibration tool in Camera Raw. Those two go hand in hand to create great tones.
❤Hello, thanks for your video, I loved it, the results it gives are exciting, it is the camera that I would like to buy in the future, I have already used the gfx 100 sII, I understand you, but with you I confirm that it is a machine to work on big things, I have been a Fujifilm user for 4 years and I love the results it gives, I am xt1 hehe, thanks and greetings from Colombia, Latin America, keep making videos!!! ❤❤❤
I don’t usually leave comments on UA-cam, but MY GOODNESS those portraits are incredible!! The details, the colour, expression, separation, etc. Just amazing. You talk a lot about the colour out of the sensor; these images look like beautiful Fuji film sims, but I’m assuming you edited these raw files - correct? Did you use the camera matching profiles as a base, or did you edit these from scratch yourself? Either way, these images shine. Instant subscribe.

@@filmbox3957 fantastic edits, for real. 🏆 I think it would be really cool to be able to download a sample raw file from one of these shoots, so I can see how the colours/highlights look from this camera. Even cooler would be a breakdown of your process on that raw file, so people could follow along. Either way, fantastic work. Can’t wait to see more, especially from this camera/combo!
As a Sony A7R5 owner, I have looked into buying into the GFX system. I have owned many Fuji cameras and currently have an X100V, so I am very familiar with the system. Just wanted to ask if you ended up having any regrets about purchasing this combo? Just wondering if it’s worth the money and experience if I can get most of it with my Sony? Would love to hear your feedback and see if you found a use case for it or if you ended up feeling like there was too much crossover between the two systems?
UA-cam just suggested your video to me.. I subbed to your channel. Ok so I have the Gen 1 version because I wanted the dials .. I also have the same lens.. I was wondering if anyone else was having the same issue as me. It was hard to tell in your video but sure looked like it.. If I do head and shoulder shots I get razor sharp photos. But when I start to back up full body or more shots the photos tend to soften .. I find the sharp sweet spot around 2.8 to f4 on that lens. I almost never shoot it wide open . I have gotten adapters and have been testing out other lenses.. I have found that adapting older vintage medium format lenses on my GFX give me better results then my Mitakon.
Amazing photos and colours. Curious to see what your editing process is like with the gfx. Also, are you always shooting wide open at 1.4 with the mitakon? I’ve been shooting with the mitakon for a while now and it’s been a hit or miss at 1.4, so I’m at f2 90% of the time for sharpness.
Nice results. The GFX is different :-). Only the lens does not suit me too well. I find the bokeh to be on the harsh side. For my GFX my portrait duo are Sigmas 40/1.4 and 105/1.4. Both intended for fullframe but both are covering even the 44x33 GFX sensor. If you can, try them :-). If you like this Mitakon, those Sigmas will eat you alive :-)!
I Need some help here.... I've been doing way too much research between the Fuji GFX 100s and GFX 50s ii and am still undecided on what to get. I mostly shoot couples portraits and landscapes but occasionally want to bust out the camera to capture everyday life (kids, street, etc.) so autofocus speed would be a slight consideration I don't NEED the 100mp for printing, but the option to crop in is a nice benefit. However, 50mp is a lot better for the computer. I have also heard that many people prefer the colors coming out of the 50s ii?? I would love to hear people thoughts that have had both of them or tested both out! I know it's hard to go wrong with either since they are both incredible and now the used price between the two is only about a $500 dollar difference. If this makes a difference, I have the Canon R3 as well for sports and video stuff whenever I need that for work! Thanks!
I have now made 3 attempts to buy this camera. Every time I thought to myself, you buy a camera for € 4,000,-- and the AF hardly works and then I didn't buy again. When I switch from my Sony A7rIII to the A7rV, I also have a lot of megapixels, and a fast camera with top AF. But I think the medium format is particularly good. I also still photograph analogue in medium format. Do you happen to have a comparison with the gfx 100s II ? here the AF is supposed to be better? greets BM
Crazy enough, I do shoot it at 1.4 even at a distance 😬 I don’t always nail the focus and even the lens gets really soft at a distance but ehhh it’s usable! Not a big deal for me but I do take a good amount to make sure I have at least one photo that’s in focus
I like the content, but aspect ratio - if you mention it, you may just as well get it right? All 35mm and APSc cameras have a 2:3 ratio (more longish), also the Leica medium format camera 2:3, only m43 (it's even in the name), and all the MF systems that use that sensor size (33x44mm) have obviously 4:3: Hasselblad, Pentax and Fuji. Some Hasselblad backs may still be 1:1. No digital cameras has a 5:4 sensor ratio. At least not to my knowledge.
Good to know! Thank you! I was just trying to explain the native aspect ratio of the GFX being different giving you a more medium format feel that what I’ve gotten with other cameras. I just went by what it showed on my XT5 and used that as comparison. My apologies if I didn’t get that right!

cool shots! what's your preference for focusing this thing? (peaking vs magnified). I'm having hard time to focus this on my 50R but when I nail it, it's beautiful.
Son I do both focus peaking and check magnified! It’s definitely not easy specially wide open since the image gets so soft. I miss focus at times but I’ve gotten better haha the key is just slowing down and having a model that’s patient with you while you focus.
Hey, thanks for the video. Would you mind cutting out the music while you are talking? It adds nothing and is pretty exhausting. You are vibrant enough. Cheers.
Seeing you are working on being a perfectionist; "anyways" is not a word, use "anyway." Or even better just end the sentence without either, as it's nearly always redundant.
I decided not to switch to the GFX system: Fujifilms crappy AF, slow and noisy AF lenses, a poor development speed (if there's any at all) both for lenses and firmware, so there are too many old lenses, the system is only useable for a small niche of photography. Not using CF express cards for such huge files: ridiculous. Even the GF 110, probably one of the best lenses ever made, could compensate these flaws...

Is the 65mm F 1.4 the equivalent of a 50mm lens on a full frame camera
Yes, I believe so!
beautiful shots! i really love the edits you made, they truly look like film. did you use dehancer to edit them?
Thank you! No! Not for these photos. Just photoshop. You can probably do the same in LR. I just use photoshop bc I like their color tools better lol

Great video, Heads up at 6:12, XT5 is 2:3 Native Aspect Ratio, not 5:4.
Thanks for the info!
At a distance, what f stop are you using? Wide open, I find it so hard to get sharpness. So assuming you’re at a 2.8 or above?

@@filmbox3957 Nice. Yes, same. I'll take a few shots, refocusing slightly if I'm unsure. But I've just found I'm completely unsure all the time! ha.
“A” on the mode dial is for aperture priority mode not autofocus. Cool video.
Sorry haha I make mistakes when speaking in front of camera when nervous! I know it’s aperture priority mode haha just the nerves speaking.
Full-frame and APS-C (including Fuji X) is a native 3:2 aspect ratio, not 5:4.

On your shots, the vignetting is very obvious on this lens. However, it renders a certain look to the images.
There’s definitely look to this lens! Vignette is there but easily fixed if needed but I tend to just leave it.
if it would have amazing eye autofocus and speed, i would buy only emdiumformat, i have a lot of movement with my clients
I agree! I still need a camera with fast and reliable autofocus for situations like that where the subject moves fast!
Gfx100sii with a gf lens is perfect for that
