I bought a model 6 brand new in 1988 for $600, in the crackle finish. Also have a ‘86 model 1 in the white finish. Still have both of them. I just love the necks on these charvels. They are effortless to play on.
Around the holidays, I get nostalgic (probably because I also am sipping some Macallan 18) and go back through old videos from my days when I was just beginning my guitar hobby. Back then, you were just getting going and some others too, like Chappers, Lee, and those legacy UA-cam channels. I can't tell you how much you've influenced the choices I made along the way. I have been subbed to you for over 13 years now and all the sudden I lost track. If UA-cam doesn't keep sending new videos into my recommended, that happens quite easily. All the sudden I remember and go back to look up what those channels are up to. Glad to see you're still chugging along. I would LOVE to see an updated collection video, showing all the guitars, amps, pedals etc. you have gotten to. I will check to see if one already exist. Thanks for all you've done pal.

I wrecked mine. 😆 I had a black one with the top-loaded Kahler trem. It cost me $900 AUD, used from a shop. In the early '90s, when metal-looking guitars were becoming uncool, I took all the paint off to make it look more conservative. This hurt the sound, possibly because the paint was very thick. I then put in high output, passive pickups, but it was never the same, although I still used it. I dropped it when leaving a gig when I was drunk one night, breaking the headstock. I never got around to fixing it, so I gave it to a friend who said he would. Then it was apparently stolen from the guitar repair shop; at least that's what they said. Ha. So, whoever has it here in Australia, I hope you fixed it and are making good use of it. 😄👍

Tone King…you have a great collection of gear…you should do “deep dives” of each model…a 10-15min vid showing the history and specs of the guitar…it would be great content….just saying 🤣

That wall of gear has steadily grown over the years I've stopped into your channel, and I'm sure there's more somewhere else. I'm just wondering what it is you do for a living to have bought so much! In heads alone, it looks like you must have 20 grand worth just with what we can see on camera.
The neck for lead sounds sick
I have a 87 model 2 with gotoh 1996 bridge. Love it soooooo much
I bought a model 5 and i had my pick from that one and 3 model 6s, the model 5 neck felt better and sounded better. IT was also 600 cheaper, which didn't matter to me.
I just kept going back to the model 5 and even the guy who owned the store said, " i think that one has chosen you" this was 20 years ago and i still have it as my number 1
I LOVE my Model 6, but I think I could love a Model 5 more.

Do you think the neck angle warrants a stacker plate under the Kahler 2300? Keep hearing different opinions on the height of the roller saddles…..
sorry, this is out of topic but i would love to ask you something which i bought because of you. i bought the bugera 1960 Infinium with a intention to mod or to use it as clean amp and use preamp on the fxloop. i believe this amp its one of the most easier to mod or working on. i want to make it better with better components . my head tells me that its possible to make this amp from MAYBE FIRE to SOLID KILLER. thank you , amazing channel ,love it
My first guitar was a charvette which was probably the cheapest thing Charvel ever made and it played well I can only imagine how much better a model 5 or 6 played maybe i should try to find one….

sometimes the piece of wood could make that lower model can be sound better. I noticed it with jacksons professional pro..

I bought model 5 in 1990 that had a Khaler on it ..... worst goddamned thing ever. I HATED how it wouldn't return to pitch. Kept it in a closet for decades...Sold it two years ago for $600
