  • I save a totally disgusting charve/jackson model 6 guitar. Watch the video to see some of the steps of how to restore a guitar! Luckily there wasnt any major damage , just a good deep cleaning. Very. Deep cleaning.

    A long time ago, I had a Charvel Model 4, much like this guy here, but a bolt-on. My guitar had been modded before I got it, with the origninal nut replaced and maybe a Kahler Spyder Floyd-type having replaced a regular Kahler. I didn't have the eye for anything like that then, and the information that would have led me to look wasn't on the Internet yet. Regrettably, that guitar was lost to theft, else I would be digging it out right now!

    I think you can take those buckle scratches out by feathering. You lightly wet sand till the they are harder to feel then lay more clear in or over them , then wet sand and polish. The clear coat however is usually more expensive than paint. I think automotive painters also sometimes scuff with lightest scotch brite pad just a tiny bit before brushing the clear on. Anytime you are doing this with your color coat you want it to bulge out of your scratch a little because its going to shrink when it cures. Of course on cars this kind of thing is done with your color coat as touch up paint, and if your provider knows what they are doing they mix a bit of clear coat in to it.

    my input jack on my M6 disintegrated , i assume i just need a stereo jack, could you tell me what wires go where to the jack? the wires are still attached to the jack bits but they are free floating so i have no reference.

      @guitarforall  2 місяці тому

      @@davidcastle3292 try cleaning the jack with electronics cleaner and steel wool. that could help bring it back to life. if not… then there are some wiring diagrams on google that show you which wire goes where, just look up your year and model on google and you’ll see plenty of them. i had that issue before and it was pretty easy to solder them

    how'd you fix the bridge? just more alcohol?

    • @guitarforall
      @guitarforall  7 місяців тому +3

      using an air compressor first to remove all the loose dust. then alcohol and cotton swabs. lastly i used wd -40 to clean it off better in the hard to reach areas. then a penetrating oil in the saddle rollers so eveything moves freely again.

      You did good man. Made it playable .. have a model 4 , .but the model 6 neck thru W/kahler is considered top tier... Great guitars ..I had a model 2 ..but sold it long ago. ,That model 2 humbucker was a fire breathing dragon. .. considered@guitarforall

    This was my second guitar but it had an Floyd Rose. I modded it stupid me but these are not exactly the most pretty looking guitars.
    It turned out to be ways cooler but as worth nothing.

    I also had just recently purchased a model 4 and had to do basically all the same things to refurbish it haha, unfortunately tho my electronics are a bust and im gonna have to rewire it completely

    • @guitarforall
      @guitarforall  7 місяців тому

      no signal from the electronics? try the 9v battery first, then the input jack .. maybe a cold solder joint somewhere that isn’t allowing signal to flow through

    • @anglesupremacy123
      @anglesupremacy123 7 місяців тому

      @@guitarforall the problem is that somebody fucked with the electronics and changed the pickups and messed up the wiring and also one of the coils of the seymour duncan invader (which was placed in the bridge) is dead. So yea im gonna have to rewire and rework it

    • @guitarforall
      @guitarforall  7 місяців тому

      @@anglesupremacy123 at that point i’d highly recommend just get new pots , wires and pickups. but i noticed that regular EMGs or other pickups aren’t as big as the stock jackson pickup in the model 4. the pickup ring is bigger so there will be gaps if you end up using other pickups. but it’s no big deal honestly , just depends what your going for .. looks wise. Unfortunately the screws in my model 6 are corroded so i can’t even take them out to try
