THANK YOU COLIN!! That was a great starting point. I'm thinking that it's WORTH the extra $85 for the SFR-1 vs. the USM-RC-3. The Speed Controller has many more cool options! I can control Throttle Exponential with my Hobbywing ESC, but nothing like that. I will certainly be watching this Series whilst installing my Beier into my 8X4 Tipper!
You're welcome Carmine. I don't know what the selling price is in the States, but the unit is currently £75 cheaper than the MFC in the UK. Albeit without the LEDs, but they don't cost much at all.
I wouldn't even consider the MFC... The Beier is just so much better, more versatile! I believe your Series will iron out the "bugs" I've been having with mine. I look forward to MORE!
@@tamiyatruckbuilding7426 Colin, I just watched this Series again. I just realised that your Model that you're using, is relevant to my Tamiya 8X4 Tipper Truck with Actuator for the Dumo Bed!! As far as wiring and Sound Teacher setup. I joined the very helpful Beier Forum. ☺️ Andy told me that my USM-RC-3 has the SAME functionality and wiring as the SFR-01!! Except for no ESC, and mine has eight Prop Channel inputs vs. six. 16 Switching Outputs, Four Servo Outputs, and a 3 Amp output. Because of that, I bought 10 Channel Receivers for my FlySky FS-I6X Radio. I SHOULD be able to control everything but Motor, through the Beier. .... As soon as I can sort the MESS I've made of it!! Your Videos so far, and the Beier Forum has been invaluable in sorting this Old Fart out!!
Watching this series as my new Scania 8x4 sits in the box. Taking information in to see what light/sound equipment I will go for. Looking like this is favourable
Hello George. Royalty free sounds off the internet, joined together using Audacity, saved as a .wav file. Upload to SFR1 and call your file from the 'Startup Function' (STeacher>General>Model Configuration)
Hi Paul. Thanks for your enquiry. The cruise/normal control uses (in this case) Prop 5. Under Prop 5 Channel Assignments set 'A' 'In Position Static' to 'Cruise Control on/off'. Then assign Prop 5 to a Tx switch (via a receiver channel). This way, a two position switch will give you cruise either on or off. As for reverse; this is also a prop command. Select a stick position of your choice and use the short or long in position drop down list to find change of direction. I hope this answers your question. Any further help please contact me again. Regards Colin.
Hallo Colin, watched over for the third time. learned much more from you then the german tutorial from Beier. Very curious: when you switch the beier on you here walking, slamming doors, ( inreior lights will go on/ off) then the engine starts. I really wonder how you manege this in the programming . Audicity?. i have a .wav sound but i cannot play because engine kicks right in. Can you help me out here. please?
Hello Willem. Thanks for watching. The walk to the door, door open and close etc is a .wav file made up (joined together) of royalty free sounds off the internet. You are correct in that I used Audacity to join buts together. You can then point the Sound Teacher software to the file or, as I have done, a macro (sequence). Within my macro I have a few actions which all run consecutively (Sequence 1) at startup. I can send you a couple of screen grabs if you contact me on thorn503257@gmail.com.
Hi Colin, love your videos. I'm looking into getting the beier system but I'm just so short of time to learn and I would like some advance stuff of which I know the unit can do. Mainly a very good v8 engine sound with realistic gear changing. Do you offer a fitting service? More than happy to pay for your time...
Hello Richard. Last question first; yes I do a fitting service. Happy to provide customer references if you would like. Thanks for your message and kind words. I'm pretty sure I won't win any acting awards, but my videos are about the product - not me lol! I'm happy to discuss your requirements. Perhaps best to email me at thorn503257@gmail.com Regards Colin
Watched this again Colin gradually getting my head around the system. Great tutorial.
Glad it was helpful!
Great lesson! I will use it when I put my hands on my own model. Thank you!
Thank you Marius

Hi. Beier is in a class of its own.
Colin, I do hope that you will go into the more advanced features of this amazing system.
Hi there. Thanks for contacting me. Yes, I'm aware I should. I have a build coming soon and I'll go through S Bus and some more stuff.
Thank you!
These videos are a great learning tool, can I ask where you get the sounds, walking, door opening/ closing ect

@TamiyaTruckBuilding many thanks, I will have a look. Any new projects in the pipeline?
Very interesting, would like to run this system, but unfortunately I'm still running windows 8 😢
I can't get My USM-RC3 to play sounds reliably the often skips and there doesn't seem to be any actual control over engine speed
Can you tell me about the stand you use. Looks great.
Can get from Tim Wincer at Ipswich RC Trucl club.
hi colin could you tell me how you set up the three switch cruise/normal and rev engine switch ?
