What is a MOBA?
Multiplayer Online Battle Arenas, or MOBAs for short, originated as a sub-genre of the RTS (Real-Time Strategy) genre. Because of this, in most MOBA games, the player takes control of a single character from the isometric (top-down) view akin to most RTS games. Typically, in MOBA games, a player takes control of a single character on one of two teams. Those players choose characters that all have their own abilities, or “kits”. To win, the players must use a combination of abilities, teamwork, and strategy to not only best their opponent, but destroy the opponents main structures. A bonus to the genre is that most MOBAs are free games, which is definitely a contributing factor of the their massive success. The genre has many titles, the largest of which being Defense of the Ancients (DoTA) and DoTA 2, League of Legends (LoL), and most recently SMITE!
What is SMITE?
SMITE is one of the more recent free MOBA games to enter the fray. In SMITE you don’t just choose a character, you choose a god. You’ll instantly feel an attachment to characters like Thor and Zeus because even if you don’t know the lore behind them, you’ve at least heard their names before! What makes SMITE so immersive is Hi-Rez Studios’ inclusion of historical lore into the gods’ abilities, kits, and play styles. Thor and Loki aren’t just characters from Marvel comics and movies. They’re also a part of Norse mythology and you can take control of them in SMITE!
What makes SMITE different?
SMITE takes all of the strategy of the top MOBA games and adds another layer of difficulty by putting you into the action! Unlike most MOBA games, SMITE offers players the chance to experience the MOBA genre they know and love from a third-person perspective. This unique perspective allows for an extremely immersive experience unlike any other game in the genre. While this doesn’t sound like such a big change, once you play it you’ll understand! the part of the lore that isn't mentioned is that Fafnir is eventually killed by Sigurd and his mighty blade gram.
I was thinking about that too, except how would we be playing a dead dragon in game :P. They changed it so he wasnt dead

All the bots their attacking have no items, Which means they die really fast, not actually going to deal that much damage in game

He's actually pretty balanced.
He is overpowered. I went full magical power in a private match with him and he 1-2 hits people, he does 300+ dmg a tick with his poison with full magic, he could honestly just be a mage if he wanted.
Inb4 people say it's impossible that I played him, there's Public Test Servers (PTS) where you can play patches before they come out.
That ultimate looks like it lasts a shockingly long time. I'm curious to see the actual numbers for it and his passive.
He looks like Smaug from The Hobbit.
Of course, the series was inspired from Norse Mythology.

Ao Kuang would win. Fafnir is super vulnerable when he comes out of dragon form. He can't move for like 1-2 seconds, enough time for Ao to blow him up.
He seems ridiculously OP...like, even more than normal new gods lately.
He really isn't. He has low damage compared to other guardians and his only cc is his clear. Unlike Kumba or Ymir who both have an ability to clear and cc.
i was kind of hoping Nidhogg would make it in first. But still, glad we finally have a more proper dragon themed character.

Vamana's ult feels so useless now.
How so? Vamana gets huge damage reduction, Fafnir only gets extra effects on his attacks not damage reduction.
atleast vamana gain heal and stuff .. stats boost rather than fafnir skill boost
Also Fafnir can also be silenced, stunned, etc, while in Dragon form

are you kidding me? is this a joke? he has two forms of CC disarm and stun - his disarm is suprisingly hard to hit and his stun is a skillshot that rewards you with one of the smallest stuns in the game - he has cooldowns that and literally a quarter of a minute and he does fairly average damage. Fafnir needs a buff - or other gods need a nerf

+Inconspicuous Username He has: a wave clearing stun, a buff that gives damage/as/healing, and a crippling gap closer plus the ulti which is just ridculous. I think you can call that broken. Hes supposed to be a guardian but he looks like a solo laner to me
from what I've heard his early lane clear is pretty bad for solo lane

his clear is extremely bad in Solo lane. his heal is very minimal, and since you often see better healers int he solo lane, they can just stand by the melee minions, absorb the hammer and then he'll struggle against archers

I can already see the nerfs, like they always do on Guardians:
-Reduce the effects of the 2
-Increased cool downs on everything
-Reduce the effect of cool downs
-Decrease damage on everything
Can't wait for him to become a useless as Xian Tian, or he will be nerfed on every update like Khepri. You know, it's not like there are gods like Loki and Scylla that can one shot most gods. No, let's just keep merging the class that barely has a gods in it, and can't do anything unless they have a team mate. It's not like we have gods that one shot like Loki or Scylla. Oh, wait......
First off. they have buffed Xian and he's ok now.
Two: Kherpi is STILL top support after all the nerfs.
Third: Loki is useless aside from casual pumbstomps and Scylla only works well if there's a team to set her up during the lane phase
Scylla can do well in the laning phase with soul stone + red pot
Xing is cool again. I have no idea how people can still say Khepri is good. His early game is just awful now. I used to main him in S2, but when all the nerfs came around in S3, I just couldn't.

Metalks I mean, it's meant to be a buff in the form of an ultimate. If that was his regular form, he'd be pretty big for a regular god and the damage on everything would have to be reduced.

Not a noodle like Kukulkan, or a single ult like Ao Kuang, but a full classic dragon. Could have done something akin to fenrir instead where the character is already a beast and becomes even more beastly as an ult. After all, if he can go back and forth between dwarf and dragon, why shouldn't characters like Scylla? But I guess it's well known they go pretty fast and loose with the lore.
If you ult and auto with fatalis do you still get the movement speed penalty? Because that sounds op

7:42 almost half health > tanks ymir's fully charged ult + full duration of kukulkan's tornado and survives... wonder how much protections his passive give or what items he had at that point but that seems kinda crazy to me
