I guess one possible interpretations is that Godot is death: he might come tomorrow, but then he doesn't, and you just wait and wait, filling the wait with whatever you can... Monty Python's 'Life of Brian' outro for counterbalance
Wonderful play from a renowned playwright. The work "Waiting For Godot", is a Modernist play which talks about the absurdity of life and surprisingly, talks a jab at Christianity 😒😒 . As Vladimir and Estragon await Godot whom they have never met to provide and give them a better life than the one they are living, so also Christians await God❣️ whom they have never met before to give them a better life and save them from the hardships of life. As we ponder on all the characters in play, and how absurd they are ,(since that can't do anything but wait especially Vladimir and Estragon) likewise Beckett views those who wait on God(ot) to be absurd! Wonderful play no doubt, but is waiting on God, absurd? That's the question!
While we might be waiting for his physical return, I believe God is already with us in Spirit, and has always been. We can also be present with God in prayer and thought, and while reading the bible. Since we can connect with God in those ways, we don't need to wait for a physical return in order to enhance our lives.

nothing to be done, what does it mean??
Why do they wait?
Because they're still alive.
Because they’re hoping to find meaning outside of themselves and hope that Godot can move them in the right direction of finding that meaning.
