Guys, dragging H, P, B to see which axis you are rotating is for people who want to be ironically lazy and cause more trouble than it needs to be. H P B stands for Heading, Pitch & Bank. All you need to remember is Heading is like using your head to look left and right or H for horizontal... changing the direction you are Heading, get it? Pitch you remember by the pitch of music, which goes up and down so you are rolling the object forward or backwards like using your head to say yes. And for Banking well you can either remember that as tilting your head left and right because you are trying to remember the other two. Once you learn Heading, Pitch Bank. You will never be unsure and have to go dragging sliders again.

That's actually a brilliant way to remember it. Thanks alot!

with this kind of objects I go this way. really fast to do.
    1. create object
    2. keyframe at frame 0 with 0°
    3. another keyframe at 30 with 360°
    4. open up the timeline view
    5. select the object with the keyframes when not selected yet (you may change the keyframe interpolation at this point to linear)
    6. on the right side (standard c4d layout) under track properties, there is a "after" option with "constant". you can change the constant to "continue". this way it will go on and on with the animation. (there are several other settings you can do)
6.1. you can do that also in the timeline viewer. on the top is a section called "functions". under track after, you can also say that the animation should continue after.
    7. to adjust speed. just adjust the second or first keyframe.
    8. thats it. its easy to make and easy to adjust later on and you can do different things this way.
PS: doesnt work with everything though. but most of the things XD and you dont have to think about degrees and radients and stuff lol
other then that. the expresso method is nice too ^^

What about using the time effector from mograph? In my opinion it's much easier. Just drop it inside the object, set deformer to object and you're done.

when keyframing the constant to make my object go slow, then faster, then slow again, the rotation changes direction when reaching the keyframe. anyone got a solution for this?

How do you control the initial rotation

    • @ratemyfuneral
      @ratemyfuneral  5 років тому

If you have set up your Expresso correctly it will just start depending on the constant value. e.g. the higher the faster. If you mean something like a ramped start, you could keyframe the constant value to increase. These are all nice if you want to retain easy control, if it's a simple thing and a one-off you are doing, sometimes it's better just to keyframe the lot! :)

@@ratemyfuneral not a "ramped start". In my case, i need to know, how to change the "initial state" of the object. Imagine that you have a scene with a bunch of objects. All will have the same rotation speed, so the same xpresso settting. But it would be great to randomize the initial state of the objects, to avoid all moving synchronized. Any idea?

i have found a way. I am trying to make the rotation exponentially decay. Yet i am having trouble. Do you have an idea on how to do it?

Simon Chemnitz-Thomsen There will be a way with the xpresso setup but I'm not sure off the top of my head. You might just need to play! :)

Hey, its an overlay texture. You can make it with noises and alphas in the material editor... (Or there are a couple of variants included with tex. :)
