David Garza - "No Name #1"

Elliott Smith would have turned 44 on August 6, and in honor of the occasion, the Friends and Family of Elliott Smith are throwing four concerts around the country that will raise money for charitable organizations. Local rocker David Garza stopped by KUTX's Studio 1A to share a couple of Elliot Smith songs. David will be preforming at all four of the "No Name #1: A Celebration of the Life and Music of Elliott Smith" events.

Captured the emotion of the original beautifully. Elliott is hard to cover with any kind of sincerity because he was kind of under his own spell and it's hard to replicate that. This one does it beautifully

I've noticed that it's really hard to cover Elliott Smith and sound genuine or convincing. But this guy gets it.
Some people just overdo it. But this is good stuff.

Beautifully played and such an interesting and pleasant voice. This is one of the better covers of this and yes, while very reminiscent of the singing styles of Iggy Pop or Lou Reed, it totally works and sounds wonderful.
