Good question! Illegal is a strong word. It is not permitted in the US or Canada. It’s been many years since this new code was made. Any new building or old building that gets a new fire alarm system cannot have audible silence. The claim is those who are deaf can’t tell the difference between a normal alarm condition and audible silence. Older systems that are set up to have audible silence can keep using it.
@@ExitSign250 If I had a system that was enabled for audible silence prior to the new code, I would just switch it immediately as soon as I hear about it.
Let’s be honest Fire Lite/Notifier are reliable companies. in your videos board 1 have never failed a test but board 2 has failed a test and should be replaced. Also you should check the buttons and the instructions. I can’t find them online for board 2 but I can for board 1
I agree with you. I’ve had many strange issues occur with my EST FireShield panels. While I’ve had absolutely no issues with both of my Fire-Lite panels. Unless something drastic occurs to either of my EST panels, I don’t plan on replacing them.
Genesis’s were never called “Commander 3.” I think you are confusing this is the Gentex Commanders. Gentex makes the Commander 4 which is a ceiling mount alarm.
@exitsign250 You could do a system test with the call points where the notification appliance are and the notification appliance where the call points are
ESTs are great! Maybe the problem with the panels are the frequent power cycling? Anyway, wouldn't the FIRE trim plate go on the one without fire lettering?
I do like EST to some extent, but the panels are notorious for issues like I was experiencing. And as far as the trim, that is up to the installer. You can have one with and one without the lettering, both with it or both without. I’ve always personally liked having both the trim and device with the fire lettering.
@@ExitSign250 yeah, true, I just would have thought the trim plate would go on the one without lettering on itself to indicate it's a fire alarm. Just my opinion I guess
There's one like his at my school, placed in the most random outdoor place ever where an integrity would go. I think he did it as you see it more often.
It's not a police station it's a edwards 278 siga addressable fire alarm pull station Also it's not a afire shield panel it's the Fire Alarm Control Panel (FACP) door
I love EST!!!
Cool😊
Me too 🎉

Good stuff! Hope you are well!
Is Audible silence illegal in the US now? I realize that it is illegal in Canada... And no I don't live in Canada.

Did the 2nd panel die?

Do you have the manual for the panels.
I do.
Nice test! EST has always been a favorite brand. I really like the 270’s and Integrities. Also when your SIGA fell it really caught me off guard 😝

I'm more of a 278 type of guy.

Isn’t there a Ceiling mounted version of the Genesis called the Genesis Commander 3 Ceiling Mount
Genesis’s were never called “Commander 3.” I think you are confusing this is the Gentex Commanders. Gentex makes the Commander 4 which is a ceiling mount alarm.
@@ExitSign250 yeah Gentex! That’s the one!
Don’t Genesis also make a ceiling mount version
There was one shown in this video…
@@ExitSign250 I’m not a American fire alarm person so i didn’t know
@exitsign250 You could do a system test with the call points where the notification appliance are and the notification appliance where the call points are
That would require quite a bit of rewiring in the panel
i have the horn strobe. i connect it to 24v and i don't get a horn?
My schools alarms
Same
On this test i like how you test every single pull station 😎
Speaking of your dual action EST Sega I have a Edwards 278B-1122 which is dual action too also with a key lock
Nice vid bro
Another Fireshield acting up, when will we catch a break? Lol
As for my favorite device, it’s definitely the chime/strobe
4:35 it sounds like when you opens the emergency door in a school bus

@16BitDoggo Yep you can totally do that! I personally prefer fire alarms to have fire lettering.

Power cycling on Fire Lite panels like the ones found on S.E.R safety that are power cycled they never stop working.
Imagine if there was a 759 candela strobe. haha
Ultimate blindness
I like your EFT panels
I love your videos
I love est❤ and my school has eat! And when my fire alarm gets old I will buy eat fire alarm!
Sorry not eat est😢😅
s.e.r. safety
Quick question I just got my first panel what back boxes do you use for your systems?
Just standard metal new work electrical boxes. If you’d like a nicer looking type you can buy Wiremold back boxes but they are more expensive.
@@ExitSign250 Could you tell me the model number of the older genesis seen at 2:57 please?
Literally my school's system lol
I like the Genesis divices
