Very simple! Very cool song Affirmation (played by George Benson)
Let's use this song to sharpen your guitar skills. I already have a few video lessons at my Guitar Wisdom for study if you don't know these funky chords or 7th chord arpeggios etc.
3 Levels:
1) Basic rhythm guitar on E-7 & B-7
2) Learn all chords! ..A-7 D9, GM7 C9, F#-7 B7(b13), E-7 A13, DM7 ..D#dim7
3) Basic 7th arpeggios. E-7 (GM7), B-7(DM7)

First heard this song sampled on Nujabes “Counting Stars,” amazing to hear the original.
That is not the original, The original was composed by José Feliciano, George Benson recorded it later as a Jazz interpretation.

Through my music journey I've learned that I love all genres of music. But jazz! I absolutely fell for, then Japanese City Pop came along and damn I'm in heaven. Actually Japanese rock bands are my favorite too, I think the Japanese really capture the essence of whatever they do! Jazz(jazzy pop) or Rock, Ryo Fukui is among my all time favorites, Mariya

that made me recall doing jazz solo transcriptions. A lot of work. I always wondered, how can you pull off a solo like that in live performance scenario. All I can think of when playing in front of the audience is "where is that pentatonic box again?" or "what key we're in guys?" ...
Lots of respect for your playing, and great stuff, although the amount of practice you probably put into it already hurts my fingers!

Tomo's pedigree in the industry is undeniable and legendary.
I think his talent is much much greater than his ability to express and convey his message in English.
His teaching style is something I find will take me a long time to adjust to because I am a visual and a verbal learner. Everyone has a different learning style.
But it is a privilege to be able to see Tomo play.

Good chord!
The version I play uses a Em9 chord rather than Em7, I think using the Em7 creates a dissonance because the flat 3rd is a semitone above the melody which starts on an F# - also I've always played F#m, F9, Em, Eb9, Dmaj7 on the descending sequence. Love your videos BTW - I'm slowing to half speed and stealing the good bits ;) (Written by Jose Feliciano as I'm sure you know, I think some think George Benson wrote it - personally came to it through Al Gafa on his album :Leblon Beach)
That's cool too. I made simple so that all my students can play "chord changes" making sure hitting b3 of that chords (for effective way, practicing the material) That's all cool too! I teach the original & I teach the original of original which is much simpler version so that you will have more choices when you play someone who plays slightly different ways than you normally play. That's all. Music ... even wrong notes. All good!!

Tomo Sensei, around 8 minutes into the video you start adding in bebop lines. I hear a lot of Charlie Parker there. Would you say listening to his solos would help developing the ear for that style?
