There is no prescriptive formula at work here, we are playing music, not constructing mathematical arguments, you don't play blues improvisations according to a strict set of rules, you feel the music and respect the chord progression, you are essentially 'singing a solo'-I think Tomo is conveying this, many beginning players seem to think there are strict patterns, like you must include a scale, or mode - listen to the chords, listen to the rhythm and tempo and sing.
Music first! then you can analyze it! Same thing to anything "work" "business" If only formula works then.... crazy!

I love your 3 levels approach, especially the limitation part. It really does force you to come up with melodic ideas instead of playing licks verbatim. Melodic phrases that actually 'sing' to the listener and have a purpose. A beginning a middle and an ending. Like you say, it's a like train ride and you need to go where you are going.

本日もとても為になる動画ありがとうございます！3Levels、レベルをリーブスと読んでました（笑）よく見てよく聴いてない証拠ですね😣 そして今回の動画で バッキング、トライアド、limitation=制限をするということが分かりました。いきなりスケールとかでガンガン弾かずに少ない音でいかにメロディを作れるかという事なのですね！
昨日から熱出して寝込んでるのでギター弾けませんが横になりながらUA-cam拝見させていただいてます。

コンさん、実は、３年前ぐらいに買ったカメラとマイクです。操作とか難しいと勝手に思い込んでて、このカメラはデスクの上で２年間、今回の登場を待ってました。もう少しで誰かにあげるところでした。（笑）今になって思うと面白いです。操作は簡単でDLも簡単！画像も綺麗ですね。部屋を掃除しました！音質も細かく伝わっていますで以前よりも機材のご紹介をやりたくなってきました。それはとっても嬉しいです。このトピックは、とっても大事ですね。コードの音（形ではなく）トライアド（覚えたものではなく）この２つがってこそソロが？じわじわ美味しいお茶みたいですね。毎晩お茶作るのが趣味です。ありがとうございます。

I guess I was just ready for this lesson. It opened my eyes to memorizing the G,B,E strings for easy triad access, and just... I don't know but I was able to move around the fretboard in a way I never have before. I guess I was already close through hours of practice, but it all just clicked because of this lesson. Thank you! By the way, I am enjoying your guitar wisdom course!

Tomo rockin that reverb??? hahaha Reverb was on 11! hehehe Sounded like you were in a huge airplane hangar. :) Minor blues... except over the 5 dom7 you can play B harmonic minor instead because you have the Bb in the 5 chord instead of the A like in a full minor chord progression. nice lessons. I am trying to absorb things but it's hard to do in your spare time.

I'm stuck at knowing what note to hit next, I sort of go by the feeling, I know my roots and have experience of playing over chord changes, but still stuck at getting the same licks over and over
Maybe think about "Practice" "Performance" Maybe you need to think simple thing deeper when you practice (without feeling)

Hello, tomo. I noticed that you always teach triads on the lower strings positions (1st to 3rd string) during your solos, do you use triads on upper strings (4th to 6th strings) or just the plain pentatonics? Thank you for answering.
I don't teach everything here. I often repeat top 123 set strings. Lower strings, 654, 543 and 432 sets are also great for chords & soloing! You're welcome!
I have this horrible tendency to always play licks with exactly the same phrasing and always always ending on the root. What can I do to improve......... Ps. My biggest dream is to go to Berklee and meet you😁🤟🏻🤟🏻🤟🏻🤟🏻🤟🏻Thanks for the inspiration

I started learning relatively late, just do a little bit each day and you will progress fast. There will be times you don't think your fingers will ever be able to do what you want, just know many others went through the same thing and it just takes practice. If it takes you a month or a day to get something it doesn't matter because as soon as you get it, nobody knows how long it took :)
