Sandra, it is kool watching your choice of chords on a song such as this. I actually switched to one of your fingerings on the E7---walk down section. I use the full chords using the 6th and 5th strings in chords such as Bm7, GM7, etc. throughout the song because I play it in a 3 piece band and need the fill. I have never really had much of a chance to play in a manner such as you are doing because I have mostly been involved in 3 and 4 piece bands. But I love the variations you use as usual. 33 years of jamming and love it as much today as ever before. Thanks for a great video.
Thx S. Revisited this one and worked hard to get it but thx to your excellent teaching i managed to get somewhere near. like the Em9 and Dmaj9 chords and the ending. great stuff
Wonderful wonderful! I really enjoy your approach to jazz and instructions. Just bought a beginner, Grote hollow jazz guitar to learn how to play. Thank you for taking out of your valuable time to teach.
My dear Sandra, this full pack music funk song is so marvellous The beat is going on. I had to learn it, in so many time. Congratulations for this great lesson. So much, on you and greatings from Tony.
Everytime I look for a tune I’d like to learn, I always find lessons from you, which are, each time, such an easy and pleasant moment, as good as if I was in a real course I had carefully choose. Can I ask for a song? What about D’Angelo, Lady ? I’m taking a chance
Oh wowzers, this one gets me all excited. I love Bensons rendition and you perform it really well. So relaxed. My 16th notes always sound hectic. How come your right hand is so easy going?
Wow, what a great lesson. Exactly what I needed. I always come back to this tune, but I never really learned that quick change starting with F#min7 and ending on Eb9. Your explanation and the voicing you used is perfect. A lot to learn from this one, thank you!
If you take the first 6 notes as a scale run (beautiful part) land on the first chord and stay there for awhile moving only the first finger to mess with the bass part of it. Don't analysis a special way of doing it. Just do it. It will result identical to the way he plays it.
Take the first 6 notes and land on the first chord. Play with the bass with the first finger but play also the melody behind it. In other words your playing the bass and melody using OPEN strings also on that chord. It's on D major. Don't play exactly like the record. Just improvise. Then it will be identical within days.
Excellently Done; Very Informative. Thank You So Much. I'd be delighted should you do others [George Benson] in a same vein? One such is: Before You Go? THANKS Sandra.
Sandra!! Great job on this Benson tune. I loved his CTI recordings - cut my “jazz” teeth on Body Talk. Nice to see you hitting the funk (I like the guitar too, sweet 👍😄).
Wow! Sandra, it's always gutsie to take on Affirmation. I could sit with you and talk about this song for hours, my friend. There's so much I have to say about it. And it's one that has a special meaning to me. It's also one that is a lifelong quest of mine to master one day if I ever get my brain working again. Is there going to be a solo/head/melody follow up video? Beautiful guitar, by the way. Thank you for doing this. As always you have my loyal respect. J.
Glad you dig it and there's so many memories attached to it. There won't be a follow up, I guess, since this one already got a copyright claim, which means I earn nothing with it.
@@GuitarversumSandraSherman You are a great teacher & I'm sorry the music world is so harsh & unfair & doesn't allow room for music teachers without such harm. It is odd, because there is 'fair use' copyright law for teaching purposes. I wonder why that doesn't operate here? I wonder if there is any way you can approach the copyright 'claimers' to make a deal with them for such a 2nd video? I am an artist & made art from some living masters photos, etc, & contacted them for permission to include it in a public art show, & every single artist I contacted, even famous ones, replied & gave permission. You never know. I'll pray you have favor & receive it. That would be a great lesson, & you would be my top choice to teach it. I think people would at least subscribe over that video.

That's a Fender Dup Sonic, but I exchanged almost all parts. I just loved the aspect of having a 24" scale length 😊. The neck sucked, so I had a new one made. Lace Sensor Pickups (gold and blue), new bridge too.

Hello sandra, i need some advise. Looking to purchase a hollow body guitar. I have narrowed it down to 3 different instraments. One is a godin uptown 5th avenue, one comes witn p 90's and also comes with humbuckers. The other is the ibanez g b 10 s e. The last one is an epiphone emperor 2 joe pass. In my area i cannot find these guitars to play. But i definitely need a dedicated guitar for playing standards & jazz. Any help & advise would be much appreciated. Thanks don
@@GuitarversumSandraSherman oh yes i can see this happening ! I guess it's time to go at it again, I started playing 2 years ago and my right hand has made some very good progress, i have a very good flexibility and can play chords i though i would never be able to play, i focused mode on fingerstyling those chords, and when i use a pick it's mostly for palm muted high gain stuff, and once i got back to learning "easy" strummed open chords songs it sounded catastrophic lol
