when this video came out i was obsessed with this side of her, i learned the dance and everything. i knew she was struggling a little bit but i would’ve never guessed how bad it really was. really changes my perspective rewatching this now 8 years later.

she just liked the drugs and drinking. Not everyone does it cuz they're in pain. The pain comes when they realize they need off.
@@Underyourbedeyes Sure, not everyone does it because of pain, but Demi did. She didn't start doing drugs because she liked drugs. She liked that she didn't have to feel anything while on them. She liked masking her pain and anxiety and depression, but that does NOT mean she liked drugs specifically. She also did it for control, ANY control over her life. She has mental disorders that were never properly addressed because she would hide her trouble and her pain from her loved ones for fear of judgment and being ignored. She talks about the fact that she was raped in 2007 by a fellow actor she was working with on a movie. She initially blamed herself, which is beyond problematic and then she told people about it and they pushed it under the rug and still allowed the person to stay with the project. You think that trauma isn't a huge breach in trust? You think that wouldn't affect how you see people especially given her other mental disorders and trust issues? The best decision she could have made was to walk away from a famous life but she earned the money for her family. People really do not understand how that kind of stress and pressure on such an underdeveloped brain can easily lead to life long mental and substance abuse disorders. Growing up, I totally blame her family for not doing what they should have for her. Now, she's the only one to blame, but I'm pretty sure she gets that now.

I was OBSSESED with this video and dance when I was a Lovatic kid (still big fan of her but you know we grow up) I still think Demi's pop rock era is the best for her but the fact that she was depressed, suicidal, and addicted to drugs and alcohol is just... like we really had no idea we all just wanted to look like her, have a life like her.. its so weird and sad

It's almost like in her ideal image months public eye of being a role model and mental health advocate she can't act this way anymore. But to me this behavior despite the drugs is so much more of a natural free spirit.

I’m so glad that she’s much happier now and that she’s living the life that she deserves, I’m so grateful she’s still here with us. Thank you for staying strong demi! We love you 🤍
Hollywood abuse children habitually because it's filled with pedophiles. Most of the kids are drugged up so badly, it's no wonder they develop drug addiction later in life.

Read the original comment and the reply above mine. What she was on this video wasn’t the subject matter, her 2018 overdose was (which was different drugs she was on then compared to 2009-2010). The last line of the original comment is actual subject matter (if you actually payed attention in class you would know, which line is the real subject matter of a conversation).
If you bothered to read more then just my reply and actually carefully listend to her song sober (which is when basically said she relapsed (it is right in between the line of her lyrics) and people ignored it), you would know what we were talking about.

I remember back then, this guy wrote an article about this party, he said this party was a huge mess, Demi was completely wasted. There were pictures of the afterparty at a hotel and you could see bottles of vodka and even cocaine in the back. I was 11 at the time and totally obsessed with Demi and I didn't believe that. That girl who played Nick Jonas' girlfriend on Camp Rock 2 was one of Demi's best friends at the time, I never liked her, she didn't seem like a good company for Demi. When Demi was on rehab for the first time in 2010 or 2011, this video and the whole article about it popped up in my head and suddenly it all made sense, I never thought she was in such a dark place, even thought I remember wondering why she looked so weird back then. Can't believe it's been almost 10 years since I saw this video. I hope Demi's okay and recovering well from the overdose, I'm sure it's been hard for her.

when i was younger i wanted to be everything that demi was and i just wanted to live in her life for a while to see how amazing it was... but when she came out with all her struggles i was like woah, maybe celebs do still have all the same problems as regular people and coz i was young i had this idea in my head that celebrities were immune to sadness and problems, like even if it was being shown on tv that some celebs had problems, i never actually paid attention to it until demi came out with her struggles. i have been a lovatic since as the bell rings and i remember watching barney when i was like really really little like somewhere around the age of 3-4 and i just remember loving that show

This video made me sad actually:( Demi once said: before I go to treatment, I held a birthday party and there were couple hundreds of people there which I considered them as friend. When I came out from treatment, I was expecting many calls and messages, however, there were only 4 messages.
Well one of the people on stage was a great friend who was scared for her because she caught her doing drugs so tried to tell an adult so yhey could get her help and Demi manipulated that adult into telling her who told him and she in return went and sucker punched that friend and sent hundreds of thousands of fans after her in retaliation. So id say the chunk of mutual friends they had together likely sided with the girl she fucked over.
LMAO I remember me and like 6 other girls did this whole dance for the grade 7/8 dance competition. This brings back so much memories 😂🖤

I remember my 14 years old me watching this thinking, "fuck, i wish i was her" and now that i am 22 and we know all the thruth behind this party, i see myself struggling with almost all the same issues Demi was going on during those days (bipolar disorder and eating disorder) and the only thing that comes to my mind is, "fine gurl, your 14 years old dream kinda came true" and it's so sad.

watching this back, and knowing she had to be loaded on whatever, makes me so sad. she's an incredibly talented woman. she was my inspiration when she came forward about her struggles with addiction and her mental health decline in 2011. my own mental health had taken a serious hit when I was in college in 2012. I was taking pills, cutting, and skipping class altogether. I was studying psychology at LSU, and just couldn't handle it. kinda ironic. I had gotten "stay strong" on my wrist just 3 days before entering treatment myself. I was diagnosed bipolar. that diagnosis has now been changed to borderline personality. I truly truly hope she stays clean and sober. the damage to her brain because of the severe drug and alcohol abuse is extremely evident. she deserves to be sober and happy.
If someone who doesn't know Demi and sees this video, they would think "She's having so much fun on her birthday". The truth changed everything..
