    This was absolutely fantastic. Me and my wife both laughed and we cried, and it actually brought us closer together. Life is way to short to throw away on a job you hate. Stop chasing money, and start chasing love, friendship and happiness. That's all that matters in life. Ricky, if you for some reason sees this, thank you. From the bottom of our hearts. Thank you.

      @eddiewinehosen Nice. A bit of pedantry for the grieving widower. You showed him, didn't you? Whilst I do appreciate accurate prose, this sort of grammatical one-upmanship seems poorly targetted. There are plenty of very unpleasant users on this platform with significantly worse writing. Perhaps you could 'help' them instead.

    Watching this series made me feel better about getting an chronic illness as a young person. Knowing your health is finite is hard to come to terms with and like Ricky's character I reacted with bitterness and anger, but like him, I realised being finite makes life so much more beautiful. The blue sky, the azure ocean, the green trees and shining sun are so much more magical than they were before. Instead of being bitter and cynical, we should try to make the best of it and enjoy it as much we can.

    A show that pretty well sums up some of the reasons I thought about taking my life and the exact reasons I didn't all in one. This is a beautiful show that mixes the dark comedy that makes me laugh and the hard hitting reality of life that tears away at me daily. Ricky Gervais shows that he knows comedy and the human condition in one show. I love it and I hate how much it connects with me on a very personal level. I suggest everyone watches this. And at the same time you give hope and confidence. Rarely have I been so deeply touched by such quirky characters, rarely has a series had such unabashed depth with all its sunny and dark sides. A jewel in the age of all the TV garbage that's raining down on us at times.

    Amazing how polarizing this show is .
    You have to be the kind of individual who specifically looks for shows like these I think. Gentle , poignant, somewhat uplifting with its moments of hope. The occasional use of lighthearted humour can make it somehow feel more tolerable when we are facing a battle such as he is.
    It makes you cry but at the same time makes you feel like you too can maybe make it through another day. I thought it’s been a pleasant little show thus far . I’m grieving the loss of a loved one right now and this makes me feel so not alone . Crying and laughing …… it’s not a bad thing for someone needing the support .
    I just have to update this- just watched another episode. Yeah ….. delightful. Ricky Gervais wrote something with an amount of humility to it. I love it .

    Grief is complex. My husband's been pushing up daisy's for 30 year's now. Something I've learned is there's no time limit on grief and waves that washes over you can come out of nowhere. I've learned to ride the waves and allow the grief to wash over me. Something I've learned it's okay to not understand how to live without someone you love. Life never teaches us how to let go. I remember when my grandma died she could've lived to be a hundred and still would've been too soon. I'm glad that she left on her terms she didn't want anyone taking care of her. No matter how many deaths I've experienced in my life including my husband's while I was feeling our son kicking. No matter how painful the loss life is always still kicking around us. And the loss of my children losing their father without even a picture of my son and his father. Still haunts me being a mother not being able to be their father and take away the loss they still experience. I felt I wasn't enough because he was gone couldn't even talk to my son about puberty. That's when I missed my husband the most, was when my son struggled with things I could never understand as a woman. I finally got to see my father son picture when my son became a father. Life never is fair but it does give us a reason to live. Even when we can't understand why. Thanks for being open about your grief this series will help others thank you.

    I can relate to so much of what he's going through on this show, but on a different level.. Being 41, and coming to the grand realization that I've had nobody, nobody has ever believed in me, and the few that did, I've managed to let down. I feel too worthless to bother trying to get anyone cuz I'm unattractive, jobless, on disability, bad dental hygiene (missing half my teeth) .etc. I've got good sides too, but those only (mostly) come out when I'm feeling good, but I feel like shit all the time.. It's like, in order to reach my potential, I'd need someone to actually believe in me, and stick around through the bad stuff, to get to the good stuff. Therapy isn't going to help, putting on a lapse of confidence before reality smacks me in the face again, isn't going to help. Corona isn't going away.. I'm just at my wit's end..
    Unlike Ricky's character, I've never really been loved, or felt loved for a prolonged period of time in my life. So the question, is it better to have loved and lost, than never to have loved at all; it's actually wrong in what it's asking. Because the good feeling we get isn't from loving someone, it's from being loved, and feeling loved, and that's why we in turn love the person back. I have struggled with the alternative question; 'is it better to have been loved, and lose that, then never to have been loved at all?'. And I think it would come down to how long you were with the person. If you were with the person for 40-50 years, and then they passed, well, then you've had a good run of it, but the concept of never having felt that, or of everything you've felt having been a lie; imho, that's the worst thing ever..
    How do you live with yourself, when the only value you've ever had in this world, is imaginary?
    PS: Like Ricky, I'm a realist, so please don't come at me with that "god loves you" crap. Thx.
    Religion has it's place, and it's mostly in insane asylums.

    • @rocky-rookie2905
      @rocky-rookie2905 3 роки тому +1

      You've made me stop & think about "the question" well, i believe it would be different as u said from one person to another, or how long or how intimate the relationship was. To consider my answer as one of the many answers that could occur. i've only loved/ been loved once & breaking up had me traumatized, along with anxiety, locking up from the world & many other mental issues that i cannot heal from after 3 years. So yeah, although comments indicate the show is great i don't think i'll be watching, can't handle it. At least now now.
