To be honest, Volo's final battle theme is terrifying. Hearing the Champion theme start to play however on top of Mt. Silver is far more haunting if you ask me.

I had such a hard time with volo. At one point I filled my team with legendaries and DESTROYED him. It felt great. Then I reset and continued trying for real
I beat him with no legendary Pokémon, it was hard but awesome. Fighting Giratina with your last Pokémon who happens to be your starter is such a good feeling

I best him with my level 70 luxray and sylveon luxray did most of the work and I did max out their effort values I was thinking I would need my whole team then giritina was soloed by my decidueye which was level 78 both phases

honestly i love the fact that Volo really was this one final test, just like Cynthia was. and more importantly, that he instilled the same primal fear of pianos that Cynthia does, by not only being the toughest trainer in Hisui, but also by fucking you over with a 6v8 battle with NO healing breaks, and you do not get to know that he has those two extra pokemon until they come out. i mean, you may have a hint, but it's never truly confirmed until you behold them yourself.
For once in my life I feel genuinely good at the game while reading these comments cause I had no problem with Volo's fight and only had to use Decidueye, Vaporeon and Toreterra. Still, a super fun fight, and Volo's betrayal really hit hard.
I'm always confused when people talk about this fight because I had no issue either. The only one I had is, as I was not expecting a third fight, I decided to play dangerous just for fun so when the third fight happened I kind of regretted it xD But it still went well

For the longest time of moving backwards, the series has finally started moving forwards. I hope they keep this up and keep expanding the game instead of keeping it the same and boring.
Cynthia’s theme is focused on fear, because they are the champion. While Volo is both fear, and anxiety. Fear because they are the ancestor to Cynthia, but anxiety because it was unexpected. Due to the fact he was revealed to be the cause of all the madness with the literal gods of the universe by siding with satan in an attempt to enslave god for his little school project.
This was basically my first response to hearing That piano that I dropped my switch lite out of surprise that everyone just stared at me... because most of them remember when I first battled Cynthia in Platinum.
I thought Volo was gonna hit me with that weak ass togepi then he sent out fucking spiritoom and saw a full team of six and I SCREAMED then I beat him and had to fight giritina and screamed again.
He can't have, surely. If he's Cynthia's ancestor then he needs to parent, well, someone of her family first and I'm pretty sure he's too young to have done that in the PLA canon.
I like how while Cynthia's is more fast pace to eager the player for the fight Volo's is more menacing and threatening due to the high stakes Cynthia's theme excites you Volo's theme makes you cowar in fear
my favorite thing about legends arcues is they go a different route then the what they did with the other games,like making the ancestor of cynthia a villian instead of a hero,and the team plasma members and leaders ancestors good guys it spices things up
When I heard Volos theme I felt my heart drop like a earthquake had hit and that’s when I started having the horrific GRUESOME flashbacks of when I caught Cynthia and in that moment I thought….. “I f’d up”
Volo’s betrayal felt so real. It was like he was actually backstabbing me. Ouch. And I can never get over it. I’ve been betrayed by fake friends in the past. I can never get over it. And watching Volo betray the player. It feels like I’m living trauma. I’m not gonna lie. He is a good character, but the fact that he wants to take over the whole world is wow.. for those of you who are telling people to get over it you guys clearly don’t know what it’s like to be betrayed. Some people had a hard time with Volo the first time… meanwhile I creamed him with my level 90 something alphas. Only took like two of my Pokémon to take him down, mostly one shoting his team. Plenty of max revives on hand just in case. I hadn’t seen any clips of this battle before hand but I knew roughly what to expect when he was laughing by the Giratina statue and I was told to climb to the temple again, so I pulled my most powerful Pokémon and over prepped healing items (which I didn’t need)
I did the Volo fight yesterday. My team was well over-leveled (like 80+). I had only lost two mons in the initial battle against his six, so I thought I was doing good. Yeah, so, I won the fight with a 13 HP Shaymin (Land) that kept using Air Slash as the only survivor. The Shaymin was in Sky, but the battle drew into night which forced it to change. That was probably my saving grace, as S-Shay has weaker defenses than L-Shay.
Volo is THE best villain in pokemon history. The psycho look he has on his eyes as well as his undying will makes him so awesome. He looses his grip on reality so much, he even results to trying to kill a child. He literally gains your trust just to try and harm you in the end. His song is also amazing due to the fact that it’s a sick piano remix of Cynthia’s theme, that also shows how crazy and powerful he is. ALSO NOT TO MENTION HIS DESIGN, ITS SO AMAZING. He even has amazing cutscenes that make him even more insane looking. As well as the fact he is literally an ancestor of Cynthia. This man is literally the best villian to ever exist in pokemon.

the problem i have with volo's fight and alot of the late game is that it just all of a sudden ups the difficulty 10 fold . still a great fight but late game just feels like gamefreak being like " wait the games to easy , quick make everything 10x harder suddenly "
The difficulty jump isn't as much of one if you're remembering to use the Grit items to raise your stats. Iirc a lot of the late-game trainers have their Effort Levels at 8+, which makes more of a difference than a level gap does.
