Buffy and Spike save each other | BTVS

- Every time Buffy and Spike have attempted to save each other physically or emotionally. I thought it was very interesting how often they do save each other despite initially being mortal enemies so I compiled every moment they do throughout the series.
I do not own Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Rights are given to its' creators and producers.
Nobody will ever convince me that she wasn’t in love with spike . Spuffy forever
Well, it depends. What type of love are you writing about? Friendly or romantic? She certainly loved him as a friend. I also think that if she was given more time, she would love him romantically. Notice that the last scene in the house before the battle, the creators left it to us to decide for ourselves what they were talking about.
Of course she was. But she was too clever to give in. It would have been to difficult
She was in love with him in S6. Their interaction in Hells Bells says it all. She just fell harder for him in S7. So did he since he had a soul.
They got together in the comics awhile after the shows wrapped up. Its canon.
He stayed with her through everything she loved him he knew a part of her did. She wouldn't save him so many times if she didnt
They both grew together as people. Angel was her first love but Spike was the love she needed.
BEAUTIFULLY SAID
He made her stronger and stronger with true love and she made him a hero from a brutal killer. The two saved each other and saved the world.
This is true love, they were close, understood each other on some special level, trusted each other, relied on each other, saved and complemented. They helped each other understand themselves.
Ditto.
The comic where Buffy actually sees the trials Spike went through to get his soul was great. She finally understand what he went through for her.
What comic was that
@@courtneywimberley5250 It was a dark horse comic. I can't remember the name of it. In the comic, Willow helped her navigate into his memories and she saw him undergo the trials.
Ok thank you
@@courtneywimberley5250 I'm sorry it wasn't much help! I tried looking it up, but there are so many to sift through.
Buffy Season 10, issue 14 Relationship Complicated...
Buffy: "He... he really loves me, Wil. I can feel it. It's not some storybook pure love. There's fear, and lust... doubt about himself, that he doesn't deserve it... An instinct to run... That getting hurt now is better than later.
Sometimes I annoy the hell out of him. Sometimes he thinks he'd be better off with someone else. Or no one. All the things I feel sometimes too, and would never say.
"But that's all temporary. Fleeting. What stays... What's always there... Is love."
Then the next issue after Spike gets mind controlled by this lord of hell. It tries to get Spike to kill Buffy (same way the First did in S7) and she fights Spike for a while then realizes it's no good. Covered in her own blood Buffy drops the scythe and lets Spike have her...
"I can't kill you. And I know you won't kill me. Remember who you are, Spike. I saw it. I saw you. You're better than this. I'm betting my life on it."
And right when Spike is about to kill her, Buffy's words get through to him. He let's her go, picks up the scythe, and goes berserk mode on the demon that had him almost kill Buffy. Afterward Buffy and Spike have a heart to heart about it and he thanks her. Her answer... "I didn't give you anything you don't also give me. Every day."
Angel and Buffy fans fail to realize one simple truth.... Buffy was only 16 when they met... she was still very much a child. She hadn't faced life yet. Not really.
Spike was there through all of it. Life, death, joy, pain, triumph, hardship, loneliness, fear.... Spike was the one who loved her, believed in her and would sacrifice anything for her no matter what. That's what real love is about.
Angel loved Buffy the hero. Spike loved Buffy the woman.
You are right 🙌
Very well said.
Nice! I like the whole, "Angel loved Buffy the hero. Spike loved Buffy the woman. Angel's whole purpose was to watch out for Buffy as she came into her power, but it is Spike who loved her for the woman she was....all of it...the good, bad, and straight ugly. There is no way Angel would have put up with a S6 Buffy- Buffy was in a dark place and Spike loved her through all of it. I read a comment before how Buffy's love life is just like "Three Loves Theory". First Love(Angel) pure and innocent. Riley (I guess, but it's the Intense Love) where there are insecurities and doubt intense highs and low) ..Riley definitely had insecurities and so did Buffy. Then there is the 3rd Love "Unconditional Love"(Spike) - I feel like this one is self explanatory.
Couldn’t agree more!!
Well said ❤😊
“I touch the fire and it freezes me”
Their hands ignited 🔥 she finally felt it burn again 😢❤
I agree 💯%
Great montage. It was cleverly put together.
The heartbreaking thing is Spike died believing Buffy didn't really love him but she did
I keep telling ppl she did love him she was in love with him especially at the end
He did not die.. Appeared in los Angeles Jajaaj with angel. And buffy fell in love with some other demon
@@veraluramsam9403nah that was a decoy, it wasnt her
Not in my story he didn't
We're both dead actually
Cut off the best part when Buffy was pretending to be Buffybot and kisses Spike and his face when he realizes it's real Buffy.
'Oh Spike you're covered in sexy wounds!' xD
12:37 - Spike's best moment with Buffy, the best SCENE in the whole series. The way how Spike was introduced, first as a bad guy, then, because of popularity, he was brought back, became the redeemed villain, and over a very long time he pursued to be with Buffy. The dynamics from season 4,5 till all the end are so perfect and Spike is a character how actually should have had his own series, instead of Angel. Angel was boring, he was dull and also drooling. The guy had no charisma, and within the series I actually never really understood why Buffy fell in love with him so quickly but it took ages to recognizes Spike. The endgame was so touching and actually I felt so sad that Spike died, but at least he felt his soul. I kinda stung.... 😊
I can totally relate to you. I've watched this series many times, but it's hard to relate to her feelings for angel and now, the scene of B/A is so boring that I skipped it
100%
"I actually never really understood why Buffy fell in love with him so quickly..." - That's simple: "tall, dark and forehead" xD (7x22)
But I get what you are trying to say. Watching season 1 again (each episode), you can immediately see that she is fascinated by him, and even infatuated. What girl wouldn't be?
But that's not love. She rarely saw him in first season. There wasn't enough time to develop such a relationship. Things changed in the second season, but I get the impression that we, the audience, are supposed to believe that love blossomed between them off-screen.
"I kinda stung" - I see what you did here ;-)
"it took ages to recognizes Spike" - it all comes down to a lack of soul. For her, soul is a necessary criterion, just as for many women today the criteria are 6 feet tall, 6 figures income.
@@GreyDeathVaccine Well, as a Spike fan I gotta say: He was kinda hot in season 1.
Oh YES yes yes one of my favorite things about their relationship is how much they're looking out for the other one, even when their feelings are mixed! Thank you for this!
You know you have an ally when they've got your back while they hate your guts.
Yeah he truly cared for her very much despite there differences
Love buffy
One of the most rewarding ships in the lifetime of fandom.
“Hey, stay away from Randy!” Greatest thing ever 💀
Even when they had no clue who they were her first mind set is to protect him
"A vampire with a soul? How lame is that?" xD
IFKR 😂
I shipped these two from the first kiss, to the end. Spuffy, then, now & forever.
“I wanna see how it ends 😈”
Hero’s die with smiles on their faces
I have loved Spike for soo..long. His ability to love Buffy & care for Dawn (&others) proves he deserved to be redeemed. I think Buffy did love him & in the "end" he helped save the world❤
I love it wen spike gave his speech bout buffy and her courage and strength and they spent the nite
Probably the best declaration of love I’ve ever heard in anything, honestly. And most shows would result in a sex scene, but just holding each other and Spike calling it the best night of his life was just so beautiful.
@@alexman378I loved that speech
@@oland637 It was genuinely beautiful, I go back from time to time and it always gets me teary eyed.
I also love the fact that Spike makes her smile at the end of the speech.😊❤️
Still loving Buffy in 2023 ❤🇦🇺
Spike wasn’t afraid to call her on her shit. Something Angel never did. Out of all of Buffy’s relationships, Spike was the only one who could handle every side of her. And they definitely had the same tempers lol
Yeah, Spike called Buffy on her crap BUT at the same time he NEVER took ANYBODY'S side BUT Buffy's. They fight, they argue, BUT, unlike Angel, Spike never turned on Buffy.
As much as I love Angel and Buffy together, Spike and Buffy's unique relationship was truly something to watch. Thank you for all the great moments of these two from the show. You saved the best parts for last with the "You're the one, Buffy" speech and Spike's dying scene. Despite Joss Whedon's reputation in a bit of a dump, his line of "The hardest thing in this world is to live in it" still resonates today. Love Buffy and the show. Awesome video.
Oh yes the speech of spike was the best thing, very deep
@@andreacastrocortes620 Definitely.
Absolutely ❤❤❤
I'm madly in love with these two.....❤️
Spike was never a monster even as a vampire. It was Angel's influence that made him monster. Angel never apologized for or even acknowledged that. Spike fell in love and became a good man WITHOUT a soul. Angel was always selfish and self absorbed. Angel was the hero the Scooby gang wanted but Spike was the hero Buffy needed.
OMG, THIS 😢
Way before its time, Spike is a legend and always gave me strength
The truest, deepest an most complex love story and the most hurtful one.
Word
I like how Spike was always 100/100 with Buffy and gave it to her straight
i don't wanna be this good looking and athletic. We all have crosses to bear... LMAO. i've always been camp Spike/Buffy; their relationship has always been so complex and multifaceted, more in what they don't say to each other than in what they do.
He really loves her🥺
What they shared was so passionate, intense and complex that it was beyond understanding. Buffy felt just as strongly for Spike as he did for her and she couldn’t admit it because the scary part was she was moving on from Angel. That she could love someone else just as deeply as him and even more so.
Great video and I liked how Spike and Buffy looked out for each other in the show.
Of all the compilations about them, I like this one the best. Thank you
The one thing I hated was the fact that she was in so much denial about her feelings for Spike she knew she loved him but fought against it didn't allow herself to feel it so she treated him like shit so bad because she didn't like the fact that she actually did love him
She was the Slayer, he was a vampire, with Angel she has the big excuse "he's different, has a soul", but the soulless Spike protected her mother and her sister... he could be a monster, of course , he was a violent vampire, but he was loyal, and pasionate, and romantic even without a soul. But she was the Slayer and she fought vampires and monsters.
@@liaheben Spike was better than Angel as a vampire or as a human... Spike 10000% better.
Angel was shit as a human and even shitter as a vamp.
I also believe that she loved Spike, but was afraid of her feelings for him, and she fought against those feelings
I'm certain Buffy didn't want to leave Spike in that last moment... he told her to go.
I just love Spike & Buffy ,I sometimes forget he's a vamp.& I think they have times forgotten she's a slayer& he's a vamp. They are 2 people that have a very strong attraction to each other.
Spike was totally loyal 2 her, that's something we can all learn from!!👍👍
Yep, protecting Dawn and Scoobies after she died.... all of this without soul (but with a chip).
Twin Flames
A bond no one can break
Every night I save you.. 🥺
I did loved Buffy and Angel but Buffy and Spike's relationship was unique because you never thought it would never worked out.
I really don’t understand how anyone can still be a Bangel shipper in this day and age 😂
Angel never tried to rape her 🤷♀
As a teen i loved Angel and Buffy relationship, as an adult i understand more the Buffy and spike relationship and i can Say for sure i changed my mind, i was Little and naive and now i know that Buffy and spike are WAAAAAY more better
Spike is the best character ever
She had A soft spot for Him. 💅🏾🤷🏾♂️.
❤
She loved him she was just scared
I like her best with Spike ❤
Because she said I believe in you that’s what kept him hanging on. When she walked over with the knife and cut the ropes he immediately grabbed her to make sure she was real and she looked at him no words needed and she took her friend to her house and took care of him!! 🤍
From Arch Enemies to Best Friends
@@just4laughs686Best friends to lovers a least in the Canon comics
@@Killerbeats1585 in the end he was the only one who didn't abandon her
Not even Willow or Xander or Angel did that
@@just4laughs686 Honestly angel never really abandoned her . they just have a very complicated relationship . I Agree with you on Willow and Xander though.
@@Killerbeats1585 Angel did abandon her though…he went back to Darla and also fell for Cordelia. Spike never gave up on the hope that Buffy would come to love him.
3:45 to 4:28 HITS DIFFERENT FOR ME ❤️❤️❤️ They eyes told everything for me #Soulmates
I think spike was the better man because angel left when it got too hard spike stayed and was the only one by her side when her friends all choose faith and kick her out
Although Joyce influenced it, Angel's departure was a sign of maturity and true love. Love is not kisses and hugs, love is putting the other person's needs before your own. Doing everything to bring happiness to another person, even if it means getting out of the way. He knew he couldn't give her complete happiness: offspring, sex, higher education away from Sunnydale, be with her during the day.
@@GreyDeathVaccinePlus, EVERY time you look around Buffy had to "save" hapless Angel.
Omg that end one had me in tears!
"What makes you think you'll ever be good at all in this world?1" (the First as Drusilla)
"SHE does. She believes in me."
Spike finally no longer cares what Dru thinks about him (even if it technically wasn't her). The only person's opinion he cares about is Buffy's
Oh, my God
I remembered every single day of my childhood 💗. I never liked Buffy with angel instead it was a great relationship with spike 🥰
I know every single word...I miss buffy so much
It was always about Spike and Buffy for me. More importantly, it was always about Spike for me.
Eso es el amor...apoyo incluso en circunstancias difíciles, querer mejor para el otro, olvidar el egoísmo....si eso no es la definición más profunda de amor, no se que lo es....
That last clip… Perfect
Tender, witty and thoroughly disarming.
Oh Spike. He was who made me swoon.
He's the coolest. Girls were in love with him and guys wanted to be like him.
James Marsters did an incredible job.
SPIKE WAS THE BEST AND THE WORST AND MAN I LOVE HIM FOR IT❤ BUFFY AND SPIKE DESERVED A HAPPY ENDING😢 YOU SUCK JOSS WHEDON
I agree, Spike and Buffy should have ended together.
@@rachelarroyo9460well...they do in the cómics "the last slayer" and that's canon for me 😢

Buffy : 😨🫨
It would of been cool if what spike did help him realized the prophecy
The trouble is you two will not stop saving each other
Yep we know
🙏🙏
I like that Spike heel turned to the good side but I wish it was more for himself than to be in favor of Buffy.
I'm in the Army now I'm not behind the clouds. Vampire Slayer
2 mins.25 seconds that's when she fell...❤ and so did m
We 😢
Of gosh in here u can really see that Buffy really love Spike, because of her worries that she really wanted to save Spike already. Also u can see that Buffy really worried, cared, and love Spike well that start in season 6 since Spike is always there for Buffy he never leaves her from the start until the end. Well to Spike his love for Buffy never fades whether he don't a soul or he has a soul his love to Buffy is always there forever. But their bond together get stronger in season 7 as in, it's always Spuffy that 💞❤️😍❤️💕
I love when Spike saves Buffy from burning up from song and we get this Buffy and Spike moment..but then Dawn speaks killed the moment..just saying
7:23 does anyone know what episode this is from? I’ve been trying to find it for ages and it’s just not anywhere? 😂
It's the one where Tara's family come for her - Family?
@@jaclam1 thank you so much xx
"No you don't, but thanks for saying it"
Angel will forever be my number one and I do believe he’s buffy’s soulmate. But after finishing the series I found myself wanting more Buffy and spike. There love is beautiful and intoxicating.. I even searched up what happened in the comics and (spoilers ahead) spike comes back and they have a successful relationship until it ends… all over again and honestly it hurts. And it bothers me how angel never fought for their love. Ik it wasn’t but it seemed so simple when he left. But the fact that spike had to fight so hard for her love is what lead to there inevitable separation💔
Maybe I’m in denial. Am I spuffy shipper?? 😅 i might just have to admit it.
Angel is cursed he can never be happy or Angelus would be back, and lifting the curse never comes to him or his group of friends, they always do the spell again, and again, and again... I don't get it.
It's funny because I said the exact same thing. When he left the show to go to his own I remember saying how stupid that was because he was the best thing on there and I stopped watching the show. 23 yrs later I watched it all and I ended up going nope, Spike is the one that made the show.
Meh, I don't put a lot of faith in the Joss' comics post Season 8 because (well) of all the comics post Season 8 Joss has personally written a grand total of FIVE issues: Season9 Issue 1 (September 2011); and the entire last "canon" Buffy season, season 12 (summer of 2018).
The ENTIRE last season of Buffy? That seems like a lot for one writer to undertake! Except that Season 12 consisted of FOUR comic book issues TOTAL that ran from exactly June 2018 to Sept 2018 and composes the "final" season of Buffy. Here's how Joss spins the final Buffy season:
Dawn has a baby and Buffy and her friends including Spike are all having a house warming party for Dawn and Xander and new baby Joyce where the gang has been happily living in San Francisco since the end of Season 8 (2010). Angel and Illyria (Angel's been living in England this whole time) meanwhile arrive at the party unannounced because there's an apocalypse - not because of baby Joyce or the housewarming. Joss also included one panel strip to show that Buffy's sister and Angel had a deep friendship this whole time too (because why not?). And also Angel and Illyria are happily in a relationship together that we never found out about until just now at the start of S12 (2018) and Angel is technically single by the end of S12 ((again, grand total of four issues)) because Illyria doesn't survive S12 - except that Angel is still deeply in love with Illyria and is actively searching for his lost love believing that Illyria is still out there. We never find out and that's how that story closes.
Meanwhile Buffy and Spike rekindled their relationship in Sept 2010 at the end of S8, officially got back together Feb 2015 (start of S10), and were still together at the end of S11 Oct 2017.
Things are good and healthy? Cue Joss Whedon.
Sometime between Oct 2017 and June 2018 Joss decides to have them breakup off screen with the "explanation" that it was a mutual breakup, even though later on in S12 we find out Spike still loves Buffy and it was only "mutual" because Spike didn't want to pressure Buffy into sticking with him if she was unhappy - again nothing specific was provided. That's Joss Whedon folks and his "canon" explanation.
Well what about Spuffy back in Season 6? It was not the most healthiest of relationships. Now taking a moment because this needs to be said to keep things 100%: Buffy was 20 years old then and was traumatized with PTSD all throughout S6. She was suicidal multiple times and I don't think she would've gotten through it without Spike. That doesn't excuse Spike in Seeing Red but that bathroom scene was very poorly portrayed compared to an actual attempted rape and while Spike was in the wrong (given the context of their "relationship") I see both Buffy and Spike as the victims. Buffy because she was suffering from PTSD and no one but Spike was seeing that. And despite the progress he had made, Spike - up until that point - was still held up to the standard of someone with a moral compass and capable of understanding what Buffy was going through. When someone screwed up as he is doesn't understand the difference when no means yes and when no actually means no? And can't understand how damaging Buffy's abuse of him during their "relationship" was? It was a ticking timebomb, and Buffy and Spike ended up victims of Joss logic:
Joss Whedon: "So Spike needs a soul, but he needs a catalyst to get one. Can't kill Buffy. Can't rape Buffy - but he can attempt to rape Buffy!"
That's just troll logic is what that is. How about instead of an interpretation like that, how about Spike naturally comes to realize that a soul could help him understand better. Or maybe unlike other vamps in Spike's case there's enough William leftover inside of him that he eventually gets a clear understanding all on his own - soul or no soul. Check out IDW's Spike the Series ((canon)) for what it looks like when Spike DOES lose his soul. Spoiler alert: he's still the same person.
Spike after he loses his soul ((IDW Spike the Series issue 6+7)):
Soulless Spike: "I feel empty... I was good..."
Badguy who nabbed Spike's soul: "I know, that's over."
Soulless Spike (annoyed and eyeroll): "Not what I meant. Before I fought for my soul. I fought Evil when Evil was inside of ME. Before I met HER... Even After I knew HER... I did terrible things. But SHE made me want to be better. The Evil was strong. HEART was stronger. Before it was official. Before the *bleep* voodoo. I was GOOD. That glowy ball? ((Spike's soul)) That thing you've had a hard-on to tear from me? Hang it on your wall. Bronze it. I DON'T NEED IT."
((A bit later after more badguy monologue about all the evil Spike did))
Soulless Spike: "Wow mate. Hearing you talk, really makes things clear. I'm SORRY she's broken ((Dru)). I'm SORRY for what we did all those years. I'm SORRY it took so long to fight my way back. I'm SORRY they made you think we're connected. I'm SORRY WRH teamed you up to get under my skin. I'M SORRY... But I can't take it back. It Happened. LET'S ALL AGREE TO STOP WHINING ABOUT IT."
((Later on Spike has the choice to have his soul returned and has it returned to him for reasons. Makes no difference.))
Spike: "Soul's restored. Friends saved. Should feel better than it does."
Yay for maturity.
What began to happen for Buffy and Spike during S7 of the TV series continues to happen after the tv series ended and the show went to the comics. By Season 12 its been nearly ten years and Buffy's nearing 30. And during that time of Buffy growing up Spike continues along his own individual journey of self-discovery and growing that moral compass of his and not relying on Buffy for direction. For one example Buffy has trouble killing humans even when its there's no other way to save an innocent's life from torment, thankfully Spike has his slayer's back with things like that. And it's not just the slaying. The pair also enjoy barbecues, board games, kittens, bad movies, taking vacations, sharing drinks after patrols, and just sitting together on rooftops enjoying each other's company. You also have Dawn, Willow, and Xander all hardcore Spuffy shippers. And so by the time S10 rolls around (Feb 2015) Buffy and Spike decide to just go for it and end up in a very healthy relationship that didn't revolve around apocalypses and funerals and series finales. They also enjoy telling critics of their relationship to politely *bleep* off.
When you do the math, you end up with seven years of Joss absence in all Buffy and Angel comics and comic mini-series, only for him to swoop in at the very end to put his own personal spin on how he wants things to end. To quote Joss during his DVD commentary of Chosen (BtVS tv series finale, 2003): "Angel shows up because it's the last Buffy episode. You can't have Buffy without Angel."
Yeah, well, I think SMG says it best in regards to absentee dads: "Just because you donate sperm does not make you a father. I don't have a father."
This comment went long, but whatever. Joss has a great talent for storytelling but is a classic narcissist who gets more credit than he deserves given how he pawns off the actual writing. Cheers
@@merikano2985 I maybe wrong but from what I know Marti Noxon produced season six, not Joss.

People don't seem to get something about Angel. Sure he was broody and kind of flat but that's just how is character is. There are actual people like him irl. Spike will always be my favorite character in Buffy for various reasons but I think character like Angel are also necessary and that's what made that show non one dimensional one. Most if not all Buffy characters were very different and it is a great strength of the show.
