My favourite band. Free meant less is more !!. My fave vocalist and guitarist. Add Andy and its a band made in heaven. I was lucky to see them many times. Bass f#cking amazing
Definitely one of the very best blues/rock songs ever! The sound coming from Koss and Andy is just unbeatable!!!! Four supremely talented guys: Paul Rodgers, surely the greatest vocalist ever, Paul Kossoff who influenced so many others, and revered by so many of his peers, Andy Fraser, God’s gift to the world in the art of playing bass guitar and last but by no means least, Simon Kirke, who complimented Fraser & Kossoff so well, brilliant drummer and is no mug with a guitar or as a vocalist. Surely, collectively the greatest group of guys ever on the blues/rock music scene, and they were so young!!!!!!! Talent like this only comes round once in a lifetime!!!!!
If Free would be longer together than those few years, i am sure that they wold be much more famous today as they are now ,the Music was outstanding and Pauls Voice was one of the Best, and Koss on Guitar was awesome.
Alot of Folks , sometimes do tend to FORGET about SIMON KIRKE n ANDY FRASER contributions to the success of FREE as the BACKBONES of FREE. Rest in peace SIR PAUL KOSSOF and SIR ANDY FRASER .Thanks for all the Happy and unforgettable moments of my life growing up in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia in the 70''s and I am 60 years old now and yet I would not go to sleep without hearing Free's and Bad Company's songs.
@@tellstar1795 Looked at this once more, a few days later, and it f***ing made me laugh again. It's like a brilliant little-kid joke, just so plain, and goddamn funny. Thank you twice. I needed a good laugh today.
Funky Base, Great Guitar and a bloody great singer What more could you ask for? Bit slower than the album version. PAUL KOSSOFF one of the best guitarists ever. Sometimes his guitar does gently weep...... Yeah give me some more of those SONGS OF YESTERDAY!
Man, i love these guys! Simplicity and style. Nothing is over-cooked. Just great music with catchy licks. This is what music is about; raw and live. I love it!
U know what, it's something that this world never saw before, like Jim Morrison! His unique poetry & crazy moves on stage! Something original which beats everything before it and in the present! A group of people come together & make a miracle which stuns d world! Makes us wonder why didn't such creation happen b4! Bad Company is good, but Free is like cold pressed spices from India! The essence is raw & alive.
Ya Know, regardless of how much Koss didnt like soloing, ( he once stated that he didnt like his solo parts, he rather liked backing Rodgers vocals better ) I cant get enough of watching him. I watch all these old free vids JUST to see how he did his thing so well, so freakin badass...
When Koss turns his guitar up at 1.45 - that's what's missing today - sends shivers down my spine - too many pedals nowadays - Koss hasn't got ANY in front of him!
I was lucky enough to see this great band twice in my home town and they were great because they were a band. Koss was an absolute star and a great loss, what that boy could have achieved?
I NEVER get tired of watching footage of them. Paul Rodgers is by far my favorite singer of all time. They don't call him "the voice" for nothin'. Free made music like it was meant to be played. It's a shame no one makes music like those bands put out back then. It just came natural to them and didn't need tricks of the trade they use now to sound good.
Couldn't agree more. I loved their music when they were around and still love their music now. Along with Floyd,Zeppelin etc one of the greatest bands. RIP Paul Kossoff
@2:14.......Oh my f*ck........that is one of the funkiest changeups i have ever ever ever heard.....scrap that. That is the funkiest change-up I have ever heard. I wish it went on forever.
Thank you. I remember them as a callow youth who went to the Isle of Wight in 1970. You never realise what you've got till its gone....Paul Kossoff, Peter Green ( 1st time round), Jimi Hendrix, Rory Gallagher, Phil Lynott, and many more
The true essence of cool this is. Each young man with his own style of sound and appearance coming together for a beautiful performance. How fleeting it all was though. However, for a short period, four talented fellows made a little magic and the world can enjoy it regularly.
Proud to be English this is pure meeting of talented young men couldnt make it up vocals bass paul kossoffs geetar and drums a movie would do it no justice x
Strange watching this and thinking back that I saw this band 3 maybe 4 times. After the IOW which was the last time I saw them impossible to get tickets anymore. Remember saw them at a club just outside London, maybe 150 people there, incredible they were just so great live.
I'm not sure that Andy Fraser was technically old enough to drink in some of the places the band played even by this time. An amazing group of young lads.
Must be the best band to perform live, so young a so raw. Andy Paul, Simon and Super Paul K, wow only if they matched the likes of one direction now a days ....
I put it on every morning at Robin's Drumworks to get the day off to a rockin' start...they were fantastic...Bad Company too but Free is much harder....
Free was up there with the best, Wishing Well is a classic far as I'm concerned. I admired how they were one of the better bands that let each musician's talent shine in every song, not just be support for the singer. But when Paul Rodgers toured with Queen, I thought I'd died and gone to heaven! Like a fine wine, he gets better and better with age.
They were unique ! every one of them , that was the Reason why they were so good ! Just like Led Zeppelin , everything fits together and out comes , the Best Music ever ! ..
i love bands like kiss and alice cooper. what they create visually is innovative and fun but look at this band. naked. the song, the musicianship and the musicians personality.thats it. o powerful band
Absolutely Unreal !! Granada Studios Manchester UK 1970 , Best British Blues Boom Group by far !! Even though big fan of Tull ETC , No one matches the Free groove and stage presence , schooled by Alexis Corner RIP , never beaten on this score ..sorry Zep !! ...and not one of them over 21 on this performance !! Rock bands today .....watch and learn !!!

well my father used to sing the blues, and sometimes it was good, but my mother never saw the use, and she chased him for his blood. says it all for me
Still to this day they are the most underrated band there ever was.

Straight up blues and no studio tricks
Young and talented Musicians, in their twenties, destined to leave a deep trace in the history of rock music.....amazing Band.

Holy shit! Paul Kossoff, ladies and gents!
Kossoff was an amazing guitarist very powerful vibrato.
He managed to develop his own sound at a time when all guitar players sounded kind of the same.
I liken him to Peter Greene. A true original. Frigging drugs took away such a brilliant talent
Love that man 💞
tempo change during the solo is soooooo sweeeeeet
The tempo actually stays exactly the same. The timing signature changes

Paul Rogers may be the front man, but Andy Fraser commands the stage...effortlessly & brilliantly.
Yet he was just 17 when this was taped. Understand the purity of his talent
