I also read the trilogy after watching the movies, though I watched them when they came out. The books took me a while to get through. Lots of new words. Peter Jackson did a flawless, amazing adaptation.
Gandalf spent 30 thousand years riding horses, traveling the world, climbing mountains, drinking wine, smoking, reading obscure texts, counseling men, elves, dwarves, and kings of men, pranking people, trolling them and having a merry laugh at their expense, killing orcs, trolls and other vile creatures, leading armies into battle, partying, telling stories and recalling adventures of old, hitting fools on the head through his staff with impunity, faced Saruman, a Balrog, the Nazgul, and Sauron himself in single combat and lived to tell the tale, and was always welcome as a guest of honor and the life of the party. If you think about it, he had a great life.
None of the dozen or so times I read _The Lord of the Rings_ as a youngster did I ever imagine such a great movie trilogy would be made from those books, and when I watched the movies the first 30 or so times did I ever imagine such a *culture* based on and surrounding the films would persist, grow, and bloom into so many and varied forms 20+ years later. "Have you found about the ring yet, Gandalf?"
"No, not yet, the dark lord is clouding my judgment"
"Good, I ll keep on studying then"

"The veiling shadow that glowers to the east takes shape.
Sauron will suffer no rival.
From the summit of Barad-dur his eye watches ceaselessly.
But he is not so mighty yet that he is above fear... "
I would love too see Studying with gandalf part 2! Love the background noises, it so chill while reading!
We already have "Reflections with Gandalf". We will do "Meditations in Gondor", before the battle of the Pelennor. Greetings.
i always love listening to gandalfs dramatic record collection!

I used to listen to the LOTR soundtrack a lot growing up, and hearing it now I can smell the plastic glue I used on my Warhammer mini's back then. It's like that with the whole soundtrack for me.
Thank you for your comments and visiting Middle Earth. Greetings.
Perfect video! Just the thing I need to remember while researching and writing my thesis: Be like Gandalf in finding the truth of the One Ring.

listening to this piece while reading silmarillion is the best yoga for my soul
I'm very happy to hear it. Greetings.
A wizard never scores low on a test, nor he scores high! He scores precisely what he means to!
Go ahead with those exams. Thank you for studying with Gandalf. Greetings.
I always listen to this while reading Lord of the Rings :)
Thank you for studying with Gandalf and visiting Middle Earth. Greetings.
To all of you seeking some solace for your impending exams...
Bad news is: It never ends. Exam after exam, and after that, when you think you are finished, suffering only begins... As long as you think happiness is around the corner, just after this next hurdle, it never is. Truth is, happiness was always there, long before and during all exams. Exams have nothing to do with our well being. Do not forget that, and you'll be just fine. Forget that, and it shall be to your own peril.
Gandalf.
Thanks for your comment. Greetings.
This is so perfect! Thank you so much!

I’m currently two chapters into THE HOBBIT, need a score to accompany me on this journey, always have loved the films, now I gotta actually be a “true fan” down the rabbit hole we go!!!
Oh, it is a wondrous, sad and joyful rabbit hole!
@@SandraNelson063 Thank you for visiting Middle Earth. Greetings.😊

@@queenvictoriann Hahaha, yea it has been!
I'm doing good. How about yourself? Still alive and kicking obviously!
@@Vikingr4Jesus5919 Glad to hear! Yes thankfully I’m alive, but just much more busy these days with university and all that! I’m a tad less active on UA-cam because of it, but you’re still likely to see me in places like this LOTR channel. Always using the best soundtracks to study 😅
Thank you old Wolf! 😘🥲🙂
"All that is Gold does not glitter but not all those who wander are lost." J.R.R Tolkien.
"But"?
I just sat down for an hour and studied and exercised (exercise also helps me sit still and focus). May not sound like a lot, but this is helping me get back into a study rhythm. I need to work on being more consistent
Thank you for your comments. Greetings.
Thanks for the ASMR, I'm now officially a wizard in training.
Sorry man... can't train to be a wizard in middle earth. Your either created a Maiar and then clothed in mortal form or you're not.
@@HarrisonTheGreynot entirely true, there are a good few "lesser" magic users in LOTR
@@jago5193 those are lesser magic users. Not wizards. My comment stands.
I'm deep into my law studies, and with this I feel I can be a judge that would make Mandos proud

The squeaking mouse is very distracting, but I love the page flipping, the firewood cracking and music
