This moved me to tears multiple times! I was listening to older podcast because I have not listened to them all. When I heard about this movie and knew I had to watch it. I have watched all of her movies more than once! I was just going to comment as well on her infectious laugh!! I LOVE IT SO MUCH!! Love this movie. It is so heartfelt and moving. The memory she shares about her mother. Reminds me of a very specific memory I have of my father who also died of cancer when I was just 11 and he was 31. He took us to Six flags every summer. He did not miss that last year. Even though he was so sick, skin and bones with an PICC line in his arm for IV infusions. I remember people looking at him and pointing. I can just remember how strong he was and how hard that was for him holding on for so long. 🥺🥺🥺. Thank you Sally for sharing you story and touching so many of our lives. - Choose strong.
Just watched this again for like the billionth time and it’s still just as good. I would love to meet Sally someday. She’s an incredible person. Great job on this video Billy!
You effing ultra runners made me cry. This is a beautiful and amazing story. Sally's strength, and beautiful spirit shines through every time I see her in video. I love that she had a bunch of dudes crewing/cheering her onto the finish. And yes, please make more running films/videos. I've seen the *****'s over and over. I can't get enough.
A truly inspirational Film As a 54 year young man who is trying to get back to his roots of running, this one piece and Sally's story will be my future goto when times get tough. Thanks So Much for sharing your story with us.
Thanks for the amazing film! I am not an ultrarunner yet but is a lover of running, soccer, tennis and many other sports. Most importantly, I have wanted to become a medical doctor ever since I was a child. I suffered many setbacks to my dreams, both in my academics as well as many personal issues. After watching ***** 's many race videos and crewing states video, I found this today. These videos have helped me get through year 12 finals. The tenacity, determination and positivity of ***** pushed me to continue to want my dream, to push for it no matter what. The powerful mindset of these ultrarunners as well as my own experience of the beauty of teamwork and persistence both in my own sporting endeavours has propelled me through this difficult time. I realised this mentality does not only apply to sports but are essential to success in all facets of life. So I want to say kudos to all the amazing ultrarunners out there and hope I can accomplish something this big physically in the near future or metaphorically, by attaining my own 'ultramarathon' of that MD degree.
Billy Yang you have been able to harness the struggles and the reason why we get out there and pound miles. What a touching story Sally!!! Having lost my mom last year and making the decision to run a marathon this year in her memory... your story really hit home with me. Thank you for sharing.
What a marvelous film! What an inspiration to runners everywhere! What an incredible athlete! My 9 yr old daughter loved watching her first 1k race. Sally McRae had the spark that later brought out the flame for her Western States top 10 finish! Man, I'm stoked for her!
Amazing documentation of such an inspiring story. I lost my mom and watching the old videos reminded me of all the times my mom went to my games and sporting events. Thanks for sharing this and congratulations on your accomplishment. I wish you many more.
Terrific job, Billy. As much as in loved the Western States footage, it is really the way you incorporated the video of the 7yr old Sally racing to exhaustion that brings the sweetness, exhilaration and the heartbreak to the strory. It was almost as though Sally's mom was there...cheering on "her Sally" both in that little 1km race in the park and at the biggest 100-miler of them all. Its sad that she lost her mother at such an young age. But Sally is so fortunate that you were able to bring her mom into this moment...somehow sharing in Sally's tremendous achievement many years since her passing. Her mom was obviously proud of Sally - her biggest fan. Your film gives us the distinct sensation that she still is.
Just got done watching this for the third time and like always I come away inspired, grateful and with a few less tears in the tank. Thanks Billy, Sally and team for sharing your passion and inspiration!
"If ever I hit a low spot in a race, there's two things my mind always goes to. The first one is always God". Incredible and inspiring! Best of wishes for you Sally in all the days to come.
What a fantastically done video. Not ashamed to admit it made me cry. This video and her story are going to be some of my own go to thoughts when my races and training and life get tough. "I chose to believe..." love that phrase.
Very wonderful film. I have a watch thousands of youtube videos and this is the first 1 that brought tears to my eyes and didn't even realize it until the tear fell off my face . also I have to say that she is very blessed to have a crew and group of friends that are so positive and very supportive
Tomorrow is my first race of the year, a mere half marathon, but hilly at that. My aim for the year is to complete a 100 mile ultra along the Cotswold Hills in the UK. This film is totally inspirational and have just watched it again to give me the motivation to give it my all tomorrow, even though I haven't trained properly and the weather is going to be rubbish. Would love to run the WS100 one day, visited the area years ago and loved it.
Running my first 100 miler on Saturday and found it fitting to watch the documentary that helped springboard my love of ultras. Thank you Billy and Sally
This video came up on my suggested list...I guess because of some hiking videos I've watched. I had never heard of Sally McRae and I don't even run but by minute 19, I cared enough about her that I actually got chills! That, my friend, is good film making!!
Great job! Very inspiring and very well made film. I've been listening to Sally as a podcast guest for quite some time now, and it's incredible to see how she has the willpower to take it to a whole new level against the best ultrarunning competition in the US, while at the same time battling the demons onside insisting that she should quit. Fantastic job, Billy, on telling that story here!
I am so happy to have come across this video, and all of your videos Billy. Truly inspirational. I love hearing these beautiful stories of hardship and perseverance. It’s amazing what we can accomplish, especially our very own bodies. Thank you ♥️
I cried! Thank you for sharing such an amazing moment. This shows are we can all crush our goals. Sally sure did and I see that she did it again this year! Hopefully, without an injury but that sure didn't stop her. Very inspirational!
Out of the park! Loved this and love all you guys - you show what it means to volunteer, crew and run. The kindness and love comes shining through. Thanks so much!
I could watch this a thousand times. Thank you so much, *****, for capturing for us and captivating us with the depths of struggle and the heights of accomplishment. Much love for you & your work, for ***** and her life-journey, and for all the crew that made this possible.
This is one of the most inspirational videos on ultra running I have seen. Sally is a true inspiration and after watching this film it gives me the push and motivation to accomplish bigger and better goals in my running career. Don't ever give up no matter how much pain. I love how she goes to happy place when she is suffering and in pain; as runners we all have that place we go to when we need that extra push. Once again awesome story and great video...
Watched this inspiring film for a second time. Made my wife watch it too - she got emotional twice! Such a great story, and beautifully shot and scored! All involved deserve congratulations.
It's great to watch it again Billy--I had the Privilege to have attended and meet you guys at the Premier In L.A. and was Itching to watch it again...Thanks again for giving all of this Masterpiece in the Ultra scene.
I absolutely love this film, Billy. Have watched it multiple times over the holidays as I reflect on 2014 and plan for 2015 goals. Have also shared it with lots of my friends. I also love the title and its tie in with the great title track by Dan and The Wildfire. Keep up the great work!
I'm a runner, but ultra running was not something I thought much about. I think Billy popped up on my Instagram because I follow Brave Like Gabe and Justin Grunwald. I've been more and more curious. This is my favorite film so far. The resilience needed to run 100 miles blows my mind! I felt tested doing a marathon so I really can't imagine. Sally is such an inspiration. Staying warm and positive in the low moments, what a cool person! Seeing how emotional her crew was to see her succeed was really touching. A lot of love and care there, very cool! Loved it! ❤️
Thank you for making this film. So inspiring for life. You don't have to be an ultra runner to find the stories of people like Sally motivating. Great work!
A wonderful and inspiring movie. Truly shows the deep emotions that we all go through in preparing for and in the midst of our greatest runs. Well done Billy, keep them coming
Absolutely sensational. It managed to be so warm and yet so raw, Billy, really well done on an exceptional piece of work. Sally continues to be an inspiration to us all.
I've been waiting for this film to be released online ever since I saw Ethan's "Crewing States", and you know what? I was worth every minute of the wait! Amazing story, amazing scenery and above all, inspiring like nothing else I've ever seen. Thank you Billy and Sally.
So courageous, and inspirational. Go Sally and her loving supportive friends! Easily one of the most moving films that I have ever watched. It does something beautiful to the soul. Great work.
Billy and Sally, thank you for sharing your passion for life with all of us. My 11, 9, 6y/o have also been inspired by you and frequently say, "run like Sally" when we are hiking or running outside..... :}
Damn, fool. I just ran 7miles at a 6:58 pace and during it I was thinking to myself “fuck yeah man you’re getting after it” got home started stretching and watching this and told myself “mother fucker, you ain’t doing shit compared to these people”
it's all relative. a sub 7 pace for me would be beyond getting after it. for any miles. Push farther than yesterday and last week. that is getting after it.
It's hard to come across films like this. As a novice runner I seek out inspiration and I don't often discover something that ticks all the right boxes. Plenty of amateur stuff about that fails to connect at the emotion level I'm after. Fantastic stuff!
What an inspiring film. When I watch these efforts it is hard to believe that I completed this event several times in under 24 hours. Amazing. My sweaty hat off to all who come and complete this challenge.
Excellent story. Excellent film. Congrats to Sally, Billy Wang and their support in the Western States 100 (the crew), and in the making of this film. Just very well done. I could make many notes here of many things I observed in this film, most all of them of 'excellence' on this human story of "human journey" (amidst ultra running backdrop), but I'll make it just one, possibly for effect: Sally throughout the two races is clear about the effort, about the journey ... it's about the team -- it's all "we" and "us" from her; never "me" or "I". Exemplary attitude. It is not only the appropriate "human" one, it also the one that maximizes your crew's support. It is great to see all this human inter-connectedness and support. Kudos, to Sally, particularly, but also to all involved. Inspiring. Finally, and really quite off topic, but .... I have not purchased a stitch of Nike in 7 years (nor any Trek, Oakley, other funders of Lance). If Nike is choosing now to consciously (i.e., knowingly, and in good conscious) support people like Sally (real, admirable humans), then I could be changing that, and possibly soon. I do have to recognize and accept that there is redemption ... for people, and for large corporations.
I love this video, it epitomises everything that is great about running. The guts, determination & camaraderie. The passion of the pacers is highly emotional, inspirational lady.
This is so inspirational! Thank you for creating this documentary. My friend and I are running our first 50K in a couple of weeks and this video is just what we needed. Sally is incredible! Very excited for the journey ahead!
A simply outstanding production. Billy you continue to raise the bar. Great job Sally (one strong mother) with truly heartfelt support from your crew. I had tears in my eyes too. Here's to next year.
Wonderful flim. I really started getting into running specifically trail running over a year so I really enjoy watching this flim. No matter what you do in life, if you believe you could achieve, no matter how hard or painful.
This movie inspired me to sign up for my first ultra (50k) last summer, and now my first 100 miler this summer! Can't wait! Thank you so much for sharing this experience :)
What an amazingly made, inspirational video. I watch all of your films and come out the other end smiling and believing my old, slow, half marathon running body can also accomplish those amazing ultra feats!
So crazy to watch this knowing how much she has achieved in the 200s. This is a real testimony of time and effort. Nothing incredible comes quick and easy❤❤ thanks for the video !!
Thank you for making and posting this inspiring film. I loved when Sally said the two things that she thinks about are God then her Mom. Beautiful and touching.
Watching this anticipating Sally’s Western States 2024 so excited
Same
It’s incredible how powerful and meaningful this film remains even after 5 years have passed. This film made Billy and embodies Sally. 😎
Fantastic! Ultras are about so much more than just running. I never tire of these race videos. They keep me going in my own humble pursuits.
Exactly my thoughts

Just watched this again for like the billionth time and it’s still just as good. I would love to meet Sally someday. She’s an incredible person. Great job on this video Billy!

It is a pity that I cannot give two or more likes to this video. Truly inspirational story and great filming!

How’s this guy not have more subs. I’ve been binging the running content. Amazing work man. Truly inspiring stuff.
🙏🏼🙏🏼
What a marvelous film!
What an inspiration to runners everywhere!
What an incredible athlete!
My 9 yr old daughter loved watching her first 1k race.
Sally McRae had the spark that later brought out the flame for her Western States top 10 finish!
Man, I'm stoked for her!
Thanks so much Billy and Sally for making what is very obviously a labor of love.
Amazing documentation of such an inspiring story. I lost my mom and watching the old videos reminded me of all the times my mom went to my games and sporting events. Thanks for sharing this and congratulations on your accomplishment. I wish you many more.
What. A. Beautiful. Story. Definitely on the top 3 list of most inspiring stories I've ever heard.

I started to run 1year ago. With the help of your films i began trailrunning. Please don't stop making films.
Absolutely fantastic! Candid, transparent, and determined. Thanks for sharing your life Sally and thanks Billy for telling a beautiful story.

Running my first 100 miler on Saturday and found it fitting to watch the documentary that helped springboard my love of ultras. Thank you Billy and Sally
I wasn't prepared for this. Bawling at the stuff about Sally's mother and the video of her winning the race as a kid.
This video came up on my suggested list...I guess because of some hiking videos I've watched. I had never heard of Sally McRae and I don't even run but by minute 19, I cared enough about her that I actually got chills! That, my friend, is good film making!!
Thank you Brian. High praise.
I watch this before every race.
You get me every dang time Billy! Such a talented gift your skills are to your friends and all runners alike. Cannot get enough of your work.
I’m not crying…you’re crying. ❤️
The music, the people, the drama! Sally! Wow, this is inspiring. Thank you.

After 9 months of not finding intresst in running ...... this made me go out and run ......... thank you so much and good luck in WS 2015
I had to google the results from 2015. She did get back and she did even better! ♥
I could watch this a thousand times. Thank you so much, *****, for capturing for us and captivating us with the depths of struggle and the heights of accomplishment. Much love for you & your work, for ***** and her life-journey, and for all the crew that made this possible.

I love coming back to this whenever I need extra inspiration and motivation. Hoping Sally kills it tomorrow!!
Sally you are the best! Billy, great job, again!
One of my favorite films, Billy. Must have seen it 100 times.
A simply outstanding production. Billy you continue to raise the bar. Great job Sally (one strong mother) with truly heartfelt support from your crew. I had tears in my eyes too. Here's to next year.
I laughed, I cried.. Goosebumps all over the place! Thank you for this beautiful and inspiring video! I absolutely loved it.
Wonderful flim. I really started getting into running specifically trail running over a year so I really enjoy watching this flim. No matter what you do in life, if you believe you could achieve, no matter how hard or painful.

That has to be one of the best videos I've ever seen on UA-cam. Congrats and keep it up.
This movie inspired me to sign up for my first ultra (50k) last summer, and now my first 100 miler this summer! Can't wait! Thank you so much for sharing this experience :)
God. She reminds me so much of one of my nieces. What a terrific lady. WTG, Sally. God bless you.
What an amazingly made, inspirational video. I watch all of your films and come out the other end smiling and believing my old, slow, half marathon running body can also accomplish those amazing ultra feats!
Wow...awesome film! Great job Sally, Billy and all. Can't wait to follow Sally's race in 2015...good luck :-)
So crazy to watch this knowing how much she has achieved in the 200s. This is a real testimony of time and effort. Nothing incredible comes quick and easy❤❤ thanks for the video !!
anyway to get the playlist... been injured for 3 months (no running) this has helped keep me motivated! Great film!
Thank you for making and posting this inspiring film. I loved when Sally said the two things that she thinks about are God then her Mom. Beautiful and touching.
