I think you nailed it, with inflation and probably a recession, people are going to spend less on new clothes and opt to buy used, and more practical, long lasting clothes, and I think that's reflected in these trends. I think the gorp/outdoor style fits perfectly with that because people are going to be looking for clothes they can use in multiple scenarios. With a prominent war consistently in the news, it was inevitable that the military aesthetic was going to come back in a big way, and it also fits all the boxes of being able to find quality second hand, that is practical, and looks cool.
I agree, speaking of the economic downturn and subsequently more mindful spending I think this will be a year where fast fashion brands will take a big hit. People will be inclined to develop their style rather than opting for the fast fashion trend fix. Maybe this could result in people's style becoming better in general or not I could just be idealistic.
this is rational and therefore the wrong analysis. people dont give a fuck about economics, they give a fuck about looking better than others. during times of economic hardship it may even be exacerbated - to out compete others you probably want to look like you have some money to spare so you'll probably dress up even more
when it comes to streetwear trends, the summary will always be "white art students dressing in streetwear that Japanese kids dressed like 15/20 years ago"
Imagine living in a country where its not eazzy getting those fashion brands at all or if than to pay an immense amount of taxes for zoll while the clothes are mostly costing biggass bucks itself… THASS ME 😭🥲😈
@@lildoffy2317 Trust me I know how you feel! I'm from New Zealand, we have one cool store that gets minimal international collections and they're stupidly expensive. I have to wait years and search everyday to find the things I want on Grailed for a reasonable price. It sucks but it makes it so much more rewarding when you finally get your hands on a piece!
All valid points but I think a good pair of baggy Tripp nyc jeans are just sooooo timeless. The hardware on em mixed with the fitted waist all make these the superior baggy pants for alternative fashion
gorpcore as fashion? no, out with it, gorpcore and functional pieces for actual lifestyle purposes, sure. I just cant stand the Arcteryx/TNF Puffer + Parachute pants warriors anymore.
ok u know a lot karsten but the i love cats hoodie was pretty fire ngl. not $500 fire but maybe sub$260 depending on fabric quality, which I imagine was probably pretty cozy...
I liked this video a lot and loved your suggestions on what could and will be in but there are some things I have to disagree. I don’t think artisanal is getting out next year. I even think it will get more in. More brands try to drift in this stile direction which I personally really like a lot. I don’t have any artisanal items but I can see this blowing up even more.
Yeah honestly I believe artisanal fashion is somewhat in its own lane especially since it prioritizes the craftsmanship, quality, functionality, so on. Although I agree that the whole "artisanal" aesthetic has been played out, I don't think artisanal fashion is going to be left out ever.
Nice content. Although I will say youre a little hard on the early 2000s for being someone that i (assume) wasn’t alive in those times. You look young haha.
Naaaahh idk, you got some cool ideas but i dont see Vamp Owens style, Mullets or neither Cemetery Fashion being out this year, NoLie for realsy. 💯😈 But again your vision with gore/survivalish styled brands is cool yeah.
I'm in my sixties Karsten. I have seen all fashion trends from the 1960s to present. Your hair length is how i wore mine in 1975/76. Did you say being a hater is a trend for this year ? Being gay, I find that disturbing. I have been through enough hatred in my life. Hoodies have been around for years I don't like skinny jeans. So you consider yourself a role model on trends. I was fashion conscious when I was young, but as i got older I realized that's its not important what you wear. Wear what you want, it can be fun, but don't place to much importance on it.
You get it right at the end of your comment. Trends are marketing. Trends are lazy. What we want / what is fun is personal style. Please keep in mind that these posts pull in a big audience. Karsten is schilling for his channel. Everyone on UA-cam has to at least a little.
bro watches pinterest for his ideas. Abstract jewellery has been in for the past year and a half. Oakley as well, this guy just refreshes pinterest its funny. Also whats his problem with guidi and ccp. Ive never seen a corny person wearing those brands nor for the purpose of a trend. They are always cool dudes who have been wearing it for a while now. Also dont compare kiss heels with opium fanboys pls
@@rhubn well I looked it up after and kryptek makes a bunch of similar patterns.. So yeah, the one that says mandrake is mandrake, I don't remember the other pics he shows..
Honestly to account for inflation I think situationships should be left in 2022 and what’s in for 2023 is love-bombing on the first date and then ghosting right after
Jokes aside though I actually do hope that the futuristic sci-fi/post-apocalyptic/militaryesque core develops in 2023 so that more ppl will hopefully start wearing masks
One of, if not the best, In/Out list I have seen thus far. Especially love that IRONY IS DEAD. Be an unapologetic hater, worship your own gods, and dress not for the future we want but the future that is here!!!
I don’t agree with all of this video tbh, I think blending that tacky Y2K style with alternative motorbike aesthetics is how the cyberpunk subculture will start
Demna is a good designer. The modernity of his design and countercultural references are really good. But that being said I will never support the house after their recent stint (not that I could really afford to lol). Also yes atheism is out. Christians: 1 Atheists: 0
Thank you for giving me my opinion Karsten! Now I know what to think about the trends in 2023

Can't see Guidi ever being out of fashion, quality is just so much better than anything on the market
exactly, people who have been wearing guidi and other avant garde labels don't care if its "trending, in or out" lmao
