My 2nd year too Nick, I’m should make ptf soon, I’m number 5 In my city….I made just over 79k, and that’s with being out sick for 3 weeks In January because of covid, wouldn’t say my office is a bad office, i love it , i know all the routes and its 5 minutes from my house…Its small( about 30 routes), but no one shows up to work 😂…so i averaged around 70-75 hours for the entire year per week…was a great year, lot of hard work , but if you’re lucky to be at a good station with good managers (lol i realise this a rare for the post office) it all felt worth it, worked less hours towards the end of the year because they hired alot more cca’s, and I actually liked it, have more time for myself, i think 56-60 hours a week is the sweet spot for me right now, and hopefully start working less hours as my pay rate goes up.
Once I learn the routes I won’t mind working late but being dark sucks and trying to deliver with no light poor gps and no knowledge of the area just sucks. I will probably always do amazon Sunday. Easy money

My station only has 21 routes, so I don't catch all the OT you do, but I get enough. We've got a lot of regulars who have been on the job over 30 years and they don't take much time off. In our office, in NJ, we have been severely short staffed and have been working 60 plus hours and six days. We currently have 6 carriers out due to various reasons, and it has been impossible to get CCAs into our office. Our supervisors have been begging to get help, but we barley get help. We have been getting letters each week to work on our non scheduled day as well as Sundays. It has gotten so bad that the AM supervisor, took a two ton and delivered parcels, yesterday, The POOM even told the PM supervisor to put his shoes on and get a satchel and deliver mail. I'm trying to get a transfer to another office, because this has become untenable to work like this.
As someone who lives very close to Cincinnati and is considering becoming a CCA or RCA what's the over time like around the Cincinnati area? I'm close to Fairfield.

Nice mailman nick nice, I wish I knew more about the sequence number and how it can pretty much tell you when packages are coming up. I feel like turn around for this job would be better if more CCAs knew about this
No for regular routes, when using load truck took it also has a sequence number that’s usually 1-800 and the sequence is the stop you make so if if a house is sequence 233 then that’s your 233rd stop on that route. If you write the sequence number on package you can put them in order from lowest to highest and it pretty much tells you which package goes first without even looking at address. It helps me on new routes and ones I know. Lol there’s only three ppl at our office in Lancaster Ohio that know about this and use it
I was told working out of craft is a grievance only if that craft has enough people there that moment. If clerks are short, no grievance will be paid if you get told to do clerk work.
It's up to the clerk craft to file a grievance against management for violating the APWU contract when carriers are doing clerk work. And the same for when clerks are doing carrier work such as delivering mail and packages.
I see you really skinny. I hope the job does the same for me. And I want to start training again in ITF Tae Keon Do. Since the pandemic started, my dojo closed and my instructor teaches out of a gym. So I’m hoping to start again but in the meantime, I’m looking forward to staying in shape because of the job.

I started my government job in 1998 making $19,000 per yr. ..I have been 6 figures for a few years now. My point is that with regular steps and grades one can move up in the Govt.

Nick...what's up! I finally made it over to CCA. So they got me pitching parcels, freaking boring! Mail clerk shut. They also sent me to other hub to help move heavy ass crates and toss Advos...they for got about me over there and I did 12 hrs.. Is this normal? I feel like I need to be doing CCA stuff to learn how to get this mail correct...ty
They get mad when we make overtime where I’m located. They want us back at a certain quick time, so I can only get get 55 to 60 hours if I’m lucky. Also never call off so for but our new post master said CCA don’t suppose to call out. He claim in the CCA contract without a legal documentation saying why you was off , you can’t call off. what if I’m sick, wait a few days after a doctor appointment for a note. Any true to CCA don’t suppose to call off or he’s scaring us to not miss?
CCA will be paid 4 or 6 hours depending on the office size for 6 holidays (New Year's, Memorial Day, July 4, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas.) Once you are converted to PTF status, you no longer get paid for any holidays. Instead, you PTFs get a higher hourly rate in compensation for the holiday pay.

LOL what's the point of making $100K if you're pulling 80 hours a week to do it? That's like saying you made a million dollars by working a million hours.

Most people say I earn X amount of dollars a year with the unspoken understanding that they're working a reasonable number of hours, not enough hours to be working two full-time jobs. If I'm putting in 80 hours a week, and it isn't something like starting my own business, then I'd BETTER be making AT LEAST $100K a year. The only thing I found to be redeeming about USPS was the overtime structure, and IDK if that was only for carriers. I would imagine the pension is pretty good, but what else? Almost every single job now pays +/- $20 an hour (like USPS), without hardly any of the downside/risk/occupational hazards like: driving all day (delivering packages), not having to walk around in inclement weather etc. Hell months after I quit the post office I found an entry level job nearby paying almost $30/Hr. and basically all I do is hit some buttons on a machine every 5-10 minutes, and we get paid 3X when we work holidays. Mind you, I don't have a degree, etc. and going to make about as much as you. Only things that suck about it: swing shifts, and shifts are 12 hours. But we also get SIXTEEN days off every month. I guess how I look at it: What's $100K if you don't have any time to yourself? Yeah you could be setting up your future, you also could be destroying your physical and mental health, for a relatively small piece of the pie that you deserve. Think about this: 80 hours a week, 52 weeks a year- that's 4000 hours (for sake of ease) a year. Divide 100,000 by 4000. It's $25 an hour, actually less than that. No way I'd run myself ragged for $25 an hour, unless I was my own boss and trying to get my business off the ground.

You need to get there first no schooling and experience this is one your best option you won’t make nothing of yourself only pulling 40 hours at regular pay
I was a mail carrier and I left the post office in 2013. I went back to School and got my degree in engineering. Now I make 6 figures without having to work O.T and I'm still a junior engineer. I don't miss delivering. Delivering is tough work, I wish all you mail carriers the best and don't run your routes

My base is 75k , this last year I pulled 92k , 28 years this coming May . Hang in there it’s coming for you to . The overtime is there .

You only get a few holidays off and only paid 6 holidays as a CCA.

@@diimyn sounds like you're a PTF. It's a career position. Offices that hire straight to PTF are usually awful offices based on the ones in my area.

I theorize mail carriers live longer than most labored profession which is a good thing. That’s one benefit of the job.
