    My 2nd year too Nick, I’m should make ptf soon, I’m number 5 In my city….I made just over 79k, and that’s with being out sick for 3 weeks In January because of covid, wouldn’t say my office is a bad office, i love it , i know all the routes and its 5 minutes from my house…Its small( about 30 routes), but no one shows up to work 😂…so i averaged around 70-75 hours for the entire year per week…was a great year, lot of hard work , but if you’re lucky to be at a good station with good managers (lol i realise this a rare for the post office) it all felt worth it, worked less hours towards the end of the year because they hired alot more cca’s, and I actually liked it, have more time for myself, i think 56-60 hours a week is the sweet spot for me right now, and hopefully start working less hours as my pay rate goes up.

    Happy Holidays Mailman Nick. I made more money than I ever have on a job and I'm about your age and I'm a year in. . Thank you again for all the vids, it's been very informative. My station only has 21 routes, so I don't catch all the OT you do, but I get enough. We've got a lot of regulars who have been on the job over 30 years and they don't take much time off. I'm not one to work 80 hours though, got other stuff going on outside of work that I gotta take care of. My break in service is next week. Enjoy your tine off and thanks again for everything. Everyone be safe out there.

    In our office, in NJ, we have been severely short staffed and have been working 60 plus hours and six days. We currently have 6 carriers out due to various reasons, and it has been impossible to get CCAs into our office. Our supervisors have been begging to get help, but we barley get help. We have been getting letters each week to work on our non scheduled day as well as Sundays. It has gotten so bad that the AM supervisor, took a two ton and delivered parcels, yesterday,
    The POOM even told the PM supervisor to put his shoes on and get a satchel and deliver mail. I'm trying to get a transfer to another office, because this has become untenable to work like this.

      No for regular routes, when using load truck took it also has a sequence number that’s usually 1-800 and the sequence is the stop you make so if if a house is sequence 233 then that’s your 233rd stop on that route. If you write the sequence number on package you can put them in order from lowest to highest and it pretty much tells you which package goes first without even looking at address. You're setting up your future

    • @threezysworld8089
      @threezysworld8089 Рік тому +3

      @@MailmanNick I understand that but I'm saying this: If you're working 80 hours a week to earn $100K are you REALLY making $100K? Most people say I earn X amount of dollars a year with the unspoken understanding that they're working a reasonable number of hours, not enough hours to be working two full-time jobs.
      If I'm putting in 80 hours a week, and it isn't something like starting my own business, then I'd BETTER be making AT LEAST $100K a year.
      The only thing I found to be redeeming about USPS was the overtime structure, and IDK if that was only for carriers. I would imagine the pension is pretty good, but what else?
      Almost every single job now pays +/- $20 an hour (like USPS), without hardly any of the downside/risk/occupational hazards like: driving all day (delivering packages), not having to walk around in inclement weather etc.
      Hell months after I quit the post office I found an entry level job nearby paying almost $30/Hr. and basically all I do is hit some buttons on a machine every 5-10 minutes, and we get paid 3X when we work holidays.
      Mind you, I don't have a degree, etc. and going to make about as much as you. Only things that suck about it: swing shifts, and shifts are 12 hours. But we also get SIXTEEN days off every month.
      I guess how I look at it: What's $100K if you don't have any time to yourself? Yeah you could be setting up your future, you also could be destroying your physical and mental health, for a relatively small piece of the pie that you deserve.
      Think about this: 80 hours a week, 52 weeks a year- that's 4000 hours (for sake of ease) a year. Divide 100,000 by 4000. It's $25 an hour, actually less than that.
      No way I'd run myself ragged for $25 an hour, unless I was my own boss and trying to get my business off the ground.

      There are people that work 40 hours from home and make $2000 per week lol. They don’t have to sweat like a pig inside a box truck with no ac and they actually have time for their familys and other things. Don’t get caught up in the system. Break out.

    I was a mail carrier and I left the post office in 2013. I went back to School and got my degree in engineering. Now I make 6 figures without having to work O.T and I'm still a junior engineer. I don't miss delivering. Delivering is tough work, I wish all you mail carriers the best and don't run your routes

      I theorize mail carriers live longer than most labored profession which is a good thing. That’s one benefit of the job.
